We've tried that for decades, set up a bunch of puppet leaders, and it created a lot of resentment towards the US from people living there without actually fixing the issue. If we're gonna wage war on anyone, why not the Mexican cartels? Wouldn't that be the most important for the safety of Americans? But we went to Venezuela because this one is about oil and the new Monroe Doctrine.
The one positive I see from this is that we get to dunk on the fucking Canadians. Cancel our keystone XL pipeline? Well, we just took control of an oil rich country in the same hemisphere that we can use to undercut you. Think Alberta hates Ontario right now? Wait til we modernize Venezuela's shale fields. 51st state, here we come.

Apparently, Trump is not turning the country over to her. He says that we will be controlling it. He had a tactically successful military op, but this is the part that makes me anxious. Things didn't work out too great with us taking over Iraq after ousting Hussein.

I'm not a fan of these aggressive strikes by the USA, but I will reluctantly trust those in charge, they know a lot more than I do.
