"At the rate he is going, he is set to finish the 2025 season with 27 sacks. Of course, Strahan’s record was broken in 2002, in the final game of the 2001 season. Teams played just 16 games back then. This means Garrett has an extra game in which to aid his journey.

Is that kind of like the * Maris got when he hit 61 in more games than Babe Ruth's 60?

I'm confused where you are taking that from... you quoted an article about Sanders.

But probably not about Myles. I don't recall any asterisks surrounding season records when the NFL went from 14 games to 16 in the 70s.

But I want Myles to beat the record in 16 games.

There was a link within the article on Sanders.

  • Ty Simpson offered 6.5M next year to stay in college.   New norm…if you aren’t in the top 5 as a QB you will get paid more to stay another year in college

Love to see it. All this get to the big leagues early stuff has gotten out of control. Another year of education while getting paid seems in the best interest of the human being that is the player.

Well, they're all set at QB now.  They can draft BPA.  🙂

I've been hearing that we're locked into pick #24 (Jag's pick).  Why won't we get to pick 23 after tonight's game?   -  Wait, I got it....Pit wins then Houston falls back behind the Jags in the order while the Steelers jump ahead.  -  Poopies!!

  • And there you have it.  Dante Moore back to Oregon.  He’s 20- good move for him.  And this only makes the 2027 class stronger when we could be buyers

Yep.  And I Don’t have the specifics on the NIL package but it is probably $$$$$.  Normally if you are a top 3 pick you bite the bullet because of the money.  But if Oregon shells out 5,6,7M this year why not stay in college and be drafted next year by a better franchise like the Browns hahaha

I'm trying to be serious but I'm questioning how long I can do so let's see how I do. No promises. We could be looking at the NYJ offering the Raiders all 5 of their 1st round picks combined for (2026 & 2027) and both of their 2nd round picks combined (2026 & 2027) for Fernando Mendoza.  Then of course the Browns could trade Dillon Gabriel to the Raiders QB for a 3rd round pick to compensate for the one they used on him last year.

The poor Jets.  When we think of how disappointing things can get in Cleveland - that franchise is always around to remind us things can always be worse (even when they beat us - that allowed the Raiders to out-tank the Jets for Mendoza)

And obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed. He turned down $6.5 mil to transfer to another school through the portal to enter the draft. I doubt he can make that much through what I think will be a very abbreviated NFL career.

.... If Ty is picked anywhere in the 1st round he will make between 2.5x - 8x as much as that offer.

     This is widely available information.

    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cba/rookie-scale

Edit: taking it a step further. Ty would have to fall out of the top 100 to be slotted lower than the 6.5mil offer.

  • I think it's interesting, Sawyer Robertson - has been said to be what a lot of scouts wanted Drew Allar to be. Allar got hurt and his draft stock plummeted.

I'm thinking Robertson and Gronowski  are going to surprise at the combine.

In that case it was a good decision. I was thinking maybe high 2nd round. I did not know they were now paying that high for 2nd rounders. Not the sharpest tool in the shed apparently.??

  • The NIL package offered from Miami was ONE year 6.5M.   Hes entered the draft moot point now. He should be drafted in the first round in all likelihood he will make what he could have made at Miami or less in the NFL in his first year.

If he stayed in college won the Heisman and boosted his draft stock then He’s left some money on the table.  It is anyone’s guess where he gets drafted but if it is end of round 1 this year and next year he would have climbed higher than this is not a good decision for him.

But You have Moore Sayin Manning Mensah and a slew of others in the 27 draft class.  He’s made the right move.

But It is no longer a slam dunk decision for these guys

  • I'm not sold on Mendoza in the NFL.. he looks like he'd have the biggest collection of Legos on the team to go along with a noodle arm.

2027 will have Sayin and Moore -- and at this point Sayin's inability / refusal to run makes him rd3 material.

It doesn't matter if any of us in the white noise section think there's a better QB prospect than Mendoza - Mendoza will be the 1st QB drafted barring serious injury tomorrow night.  You sound like you haven't watched Moore play against the better defenses they faced.  If it wasn't for Texas Tech's offense handing Oregon short fields all day on offense (via 4 turnovers by TT) - Moore was getting sacked, fumbling snaps, messing up handoffs and pitches; and holding onto the ball too long not feeling the pass rush/pressure in the pocket. He played way too sloppy with the basics to sell me on how much better you think he is over Mendoza.  At Oregon, even Dillon Gabriel looked great sporting a 72.9 comp % with 30 TDs to only 6 INTs to go with the talented roster good enough for a 13-1 record.  When Moore isn't sloppy - he is accurate. The cut and paste below shows you his recent struggles.  If these bad habits that were most visible at the end of the year aren't resolved in 2026 - he's probably not gonna be the consensus #1 pick next year either. As always, I could be wrong about that...

Defense: Depth, Versatility, and Translatable NFL Traits

The defensive roster at the 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl underscores why evaluators view this side of the ball as a strength of the event.

The front seven is anchored by disruptive, role-diverse defenders such as Harold Perkins Jr., Albert Regis, and Malachi Lawrence, offering a mix of versatility, length, and power that translates cleanly to NFL schemes.

In the secondary, defenders like Domani Jackson and Robert Spears-Jennings provide evaluators with press-man, zone, and sub-package options, while also projecting as early contributors on special teams.
