The Browns Board

  • And I just saw Chris Shula gave the Browns the ?too... The Browns are hard luck losers.. If this doesn't dawn on the Haslams that they need to get out of Football.... I'm not sure what more evidence they need..  They are a total embarrassment to the Team it's fans and the entire northeast Ohio region...

That bummed me out about Shula, but at the same time it’s tough to fault a guy for wanting to start his NFL head coaching career on the right foot. The Browns are certainly left footed.

Still, l bet Shula will be a fine head coach somewhere. Please don’t let it be Pittsburgh. Anywhere but there. They’re not allowed to have any more Redhawks.

  • I think the current state of the Browns FO is an indictment of the environment Haslam created.

Think about it, what potential HC would want to walk into the dumpster fire in Berea?

  • The guy is in so much denial it drove him to make “feel better” video.

Only with the Cleveland Browns are head coaching opportunities scoffed at by not just one candidate, but three.

Mike McDaniel: The former Dolphins coach and current Chargers OC candidate withdrew from the process before a scheduled second interview, choosing not to pursue the Browns' vacancy.

Jesse Minter: The Chargers' defensive coordinator cancelled his scheduled second interview with the Browns, reportedly seeking a more secure, "better" head coaching opportunity.

Chris Shula: The Rams' defensive coordinator reportedly did not interview for the position after initial interest, effectively turning down the opportunity.

Perhaps with prior hires, a bonus in accepting the HC job in a football rabid town meant that they will have earned the status of a god if they could get this thing turned around after 30 yrs of suck.

“Fuck that” is the mindset that appears to be emerging.

I don't mind if he goes to Pittsburgh, they actually need an offensive mind as their defense is old, expensive and has peaked.  Tomlin covered a lot of holes in that organization that will now be apparent.

The thing is, and it pains me to write this, it just doesn't appear the Steelers are ever truly going to suck. They just hired McCarthy, who's pretty solid IMHO.

The hire of  Mike McCarthy means several more years of 10-7 or 9-8, QB purgatory and early playoff exits. As a Browns fan, actually pleased they did this as they really needed a rebuild with a 3-14 season to be competitive in the next decade.

I'd like to see Pittsburgh, Baltimore, & Denver go 3-14 for the next 10-20 years lol.

I don't know. Everytime we Browns fans think the Steelers are sliding away, they don't.

He's like the junior varsity version of Tomlin IMO + 3 beers meaning he'll either make it to the last week of the regular season with a chance to make the playoffs if someone loses or he'll win to get in.  They'll still lose in the 1st round. They don't have the best Rooney any more either.

Well said AP1! If we could ever get Jimmy's 2 brain cells on speaking terms - we'd have a GM that can accurately assess talent at Offensive Tackle positions and interior OL positions.  We're only as good as the apex of the organization so I'll ask - "Dysfunction junction what's your function?"  I'll help - take inventory of the HC candidates that don't consider Andrew Berry as someone worthy of answering to.

That's interesting, because from what I've seen from Steelers fans online this news was met with very little enthusiasm.

An older, expensive defense and possibly another year of an even older Aaron Rodgers.

They probably won't suck, but I can't see how this moves the needle for them out of "fringe playoff contender who if they get in will get knocked out in the first round" purgatory.

True, but it's doubtful they sink to the depths of 3-14 like the team we all love to follow.

Their ownership family won't allow it - but there is a visible drop-off from Art Rooney to the Rooney that inherited the Steelers.

I won't speak for the fanbase, but I did see Joe Haden and James Harrison discussing it in their podcast and Haden wasn't impressed.

    He said he didn't want a re-tread.

How generous you are with brain cell estimates, Flugel.

Conversely, Schoolhouse Rock ain't bailing us out of this one!
