  • I would have been happy if we hired Nate Scheelhaase instead, but this is sad.

Silver lining is maybe this gets AB out of here and one can only hope JH sells.

If this fails then yeah I dont think you can defend AB anymore. This is such an underwhelming move.

  • Coming in today, I think many folks believed the Steeler had made the worst HC hire. The Browns said hold my beer.

  • Jim Schwartz is OUTTIE!

  • They will be looking for a new head coach, and hopefully a new GM next year

Man, this defense had FUN playing together last year regardless of the score which was a reflection of the DC that fell on the blind eyes of Berry & Haslam.  That's called morale.  Now that unit just watched their owner & GM piss all over their DC.  They just don't GET IT; and the owner of our favorite team is going to go down as the worst owner in all of professional sports. All they had to do was promote Schwartz and hire Monken as the OC; because Baltimore certainly wasn't going to keep him given the incompatibility of him and Lamar.  I don't have anything against Monken per say; but he seems like he'd be better under a strong HC like he was at UGA under Kirby Smart.

We're Cleveland Browns fans -  unfortunately this is what we do get way too frequently with this owner...

I believe Monken would have pulled a Schwartz and told haslem to F Off

That wasn't going to happen.   It was between CLE & NYG for Monken - but only one of those teams offered him the HC position.

  • Jimmy has an uncanny talent for destroying everything he touches.. He is just one of those souls... No matter how hard he tries... He never learns from his past mistakes.. The sad reality is there are people in this world who aren't cut out to be a winner and Jimmy is one of those people...

  • When you are that rich from an early age and have never had to answer to anybody, you are always the smartest in the room....in your own head.

  • All this time searching for Monken?? I hope this works out but previous history tells me he will fail. What an underwhelming choice. I would rather either of the other 2 finalist then Monken.

maybe everyone are getting their panties in a twist over nothing, I said Maybe, But as I posted Monken likes to run a 12 as compared to a  11 personnel which is what I had read haslem wanted the team to run

I’ve been saying this for years. HE’S A LIOSER!!!!!!

  • I wonder now if Anthony Weaver becomes a candidate to take over the defense now that Schwartz gave Haslam the finger.. He was Baltimores D Line coach at one time I believe...

That's Jimmuh.  He always knows better than the football people.  He's a PITA.

OK, having said that, Welcome Todd Monken!   You've got a clean slate here.  We wish you all the best and much success!  I'll support you!  But I reserve the right to form opinions as time goes by.  Best of luck and Go Browns!

Apparently I can't use any emoji's today.....even though I just got home from having a long tube stuck up my ass and haven't been at my computer since now.  🙂

Ya know, we can all have our opinions on who should've been hired...and we can voice them, go on record with them, etc.  But we should give the guy a fair shake.  He's our HC and he hasn't done anything wrong yet.

do you think people would be happier with the hire if he was 20 years younger ?

  • Probably.  There seems to be a significant amount of posters here that want a young guy with virtually no experience.  I wanted Schwartz...but at least Monken is experienced.  Although Schwartz is probably gonna be history now.  🙁

haslam is an arrogant slug human being of sick proportions, imho. Is it true haslam picked this hc over the one the search committee wanted?

This hc fire is being criticized a lot already:

    https://www.si.com/nfl/browns/onsi/browns-opinion/three-reasons-why-cleveland-browns-coaching-search-failed-01kg319a3k8j

so, not an innovator, all that talent, and monken himself admits he was at fault...

and the Browns don't have the oline, or the wr's, now they won't have Schwartz, who they SHOULD have made head coach,...

arrogant haslam just wanted another kiss ass hc he could own, that is what I think.

the biggest problem, is that some ravens players didn't like Monken. So, haslam hires an OC that even that OC

admits to being the problem with the ratbirds.
