I don't understand the actual demands of the Minnesota protesters. Now states should have the right to interpret and enforce federal law? That's all I can make out of this.
I could certainly agree there is alternative ways to enforce the law. You could fine (AKA tax) the hell out of businesses that hire undocumented people. If there is no money to make, they will go back. These protesters have to be happy with businesses being heavily taxed/fined, it's part of their docterine.
But the idea that the current policy is too heavy handed, therefore deportations should stop is goofy. Â
It's very hard to follow the logic in Minnesota right now.

You donât understand because its deeper than people simply protesting against something they donât like.
The protesters are being dispatched.I will post a thread about that.
For starters take a listen to this woman.
Minnesota was where BLM, and ANTIFA originated.

I'd like to reply to the original topic:
What information about the death is currently available to the public?:
On January 24, 2026, Alex Jeffrey Pretti,[3] a 37-year-old American intensive care nurse for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, was shot multiple times and killed by United States Customs and Border Protection agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The incident occurred amid widespread protests against Operation Metro Surge Â
Pretti was filming law enforcement agents with his phone and directing traffic. At one point, he stood between an agent and a woman whom the agent had pushed to the ground, putting his arm around the woman.[4] He was then pepper-sprayed and wrestled to the ground by several federal agents, with around six surrounding him when he was shot and killed.[5][6][7] Bystander video verified and reviewed by Reuters, the BBC, The Wall Street Journal, and the Associated Press (AP) appears to show an agent removing a gun and moving away from Pretti roughly one second before another agent fires at him.[8][9][10][11] AP reported that a voice can be heard saying "gun, gun" right before the first shot.[12]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Alex_PrettiA further report:
'Eleven days before his death, new bystander footage shows Pretti [Alex Pretti] in a separate confrontation with federal agents during protests against immigration enforcement in Minneapolis. [...]'
Â'Bystander video from [the lethal] encounter shows officers confronting Pretti at close range before shots were fired and, later, an agent removing a handgun [a P320, licensed to carry] from Prettiâs waistband after he was down on the ground. [...]'
Â'and investigators have not publicly reported that Prettiâs gun fired. Until investigators release ballistic findings and a full reconstruction â especially regarding whether the pistol was manipulated, whether any round discharged, and whether any discharge preceded the agentâs shots â claims that the P320 âwent offâ in this encounter remain speculation rather than established fact.'

As to any claim of "imminent threat", these points appear relevant:
If the deceased's weapon was never brought out by him, then neither its presence on him, nor the license to carry, are factors.Â
The previous video shows he was possibly capable of being described as an "activist", but this is not relevant to the lethal nature of the later incident.Â
All that being so, it appears that there may not have been an "imminent threat", and if that is so the assumption must be that unfortunately the gentleman may have been unlawfully killed.ÂThe officers may have been mistaken about what was going on, but whether they are culpable only a court can decide, and the court would also have to decide if the lethal action taken by them falls within, or without any immunity. Courts will need to decide on any criminal and also civil liability.Â
The incident is troubling and should require investigation.Â
(I am not a lawyer of any U.S. law. I have an England U.K. legal qualification (retired).)
"U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement" ("ICE") have been conducting operations to arrest and remove people who have entered the United States illegally, concentrating on seeking to remove those accused of serious offenses who have been released by courts, without those courts contacting ICE.
The Democratic Party appear to favor illegal-immigration as they see it as a rich vein of potential votes.
In Democratic Party run States, the local police have been ordered to not co-operate with ICE, which includesÂ
not policing protests/demonstrations, thus allowing activists to interact with ICE ongoing operations; i.e. cause obstruction to such operations. This has inevitably led to casualties, casualties (whatever point of view one takes of the available information) that would have been unlikely had the protests/demonstrations been properly policed.

That changes everything, no one ever did anything bad that was a nurse
He wasn't being arrested for carrying
He put his hands on the agent and interfered in a confrontation all the while knowing he was carrying.Â
Carrying presents itself a new standard for being responsible, keep yourself out of confrontations.
You are no longer 'just recording innocently' if you interject yourself between federal agents and put your hands on them.
Once you do interject and become physical, stop resisting.
Seems the propaganda machine is working overtime on the left.
He was recording them. He didn't put hands on them, they came over and shoved him down.Â
Then an incompetent buffoon accidentally shot the gun they took off of him, and his idiot ape friends all thought it was the guy they had pinned to the ground shooting at them, so they shot him 10 fucking times.Â
Are you saying Noem's interpretation of events is correct? Are you that politically biased that you can't call out reality when we have it on video?

I have instructed Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, that under no circumstances are we going to participate in various poorly run Democrat Cities with regard to their Protests and/or Riots unless, and until, they ask us for help. We will, however, guard, and very powerfully so, any and all Federal Buildings that are being attacked by these highly paid Lunatics, Agitators, and Insurrectionists. Please be aware that I have instructed ICE and/or Border Patrol to be very forceful in this protection of Federal Government Property. There will be no spitting in the faces of our Officers, there will be no punching or kicking the headlights of our cars, and there will be no rock or brick throwing at our vehicles, or at our Patriot Warriors. If there is, those people will suffer an equal, or more, consequence. In the meantime, by copy of this Statement, I am informing Local Governments, as I did in Los Angeles when they were rioting at the end of the Biden Term, that you must protect your own State and Local Property. In addition, it is your obligation to also protect our Federal Property, Buildings, Parks, and everything else. We are there to protect Federal Property, only as a back up, in that it is Local and State Responsibility to do so. Last night in Eugene, Oregon, these criminals broke into a Federal Building, and did great damage, also scaring and harassing the hardworking employees. Local Police did nothing in order to stop it. We will not let that happen anymore! If Local Governments are unable to handle the Insurrectionists, Agitators, and Anarchists, we will immediately go to the location where such help is requested, and take care of the situation very easily and methodically, just as we did the Los Angeles Riots one year ago, where the Police Chief said that, âWe couldnât have done it without the help of the Federal Government.â Therefore, to all complaining Local Governments, Governors, and Mayors, let us know when you are ready, and we will be there â But, before we do so, you must use the word, âPLEASE.â Remember that I stated, in the strongest of language, to BEWARE â ICE, Border Patrol or, if necessary, our Military, will be extremely powerful and tough in the protection of our Federal Property. We will not allow our Courthouses, Federal Buildings, or anything else under our protection, to be damaged in any way, shape, or form. I was elected on a Policy of Border Control (which has now been perfected!), National Security, and LAW AND ORDER â Thatâs what America wants, and thatâs what America is getting! Thank you for your attention to this matter.
