which is not true, and has nothing to do with what I joked. Do you know who that puppet is from?

It would be great if the Browns could get on track. It's just that haslam is still the stinking ownert.

Todd Monken is the farthest thing from a "yes man", but you keep being you.

Doesn't mean he's going to be successful, but you keep spewing nonsense that you can't back up. It's why no one with half a brain pays attention to anything you unfortunately post.

    Nate Scheelhaase, the 35-year-old visionary

oh really ? I did not realize he was a visionary, Fuck Man, I bet his phone is wringing off the hook from the raiders or cardinals

There are three reasons why Scheelhaase is the best fit for the Steelers. The first is his offensive mind. As the pass-game coordinator with the Rams, he's worked closely with head coach Sean McVay, offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur and star quarterback Matthew Stafford. Together, they've been one of the best aerial attacks in the NFL over the past few seasons.

That type of experience is worth its weight in gold, especially in a head coaching search. Scheelhaase's keen eye and attention to detail have been instrumental in their offensive success, and that's exactly the type of mind the Steelers need running their team.

Scheelhaase also has a history of developing quarterbacks. He was a QB for the University of Illinois and still holds the record for total offensive yards with over 10,000 in his collegiate career.

Aside from himself and helping Stafford sustain his success later in his career, Scheelhaase is also credited with helping develop San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy while at Iowa State University. The Steelers are a team that desperately needs to identify and develop a starting quarterback, and Scheelhaase is the best candidate around to do so."

And yet the Steelers hired 62 year old Mike McCarthy, didn't they?

Yeah, now that you mention it...it is a bit surprising.  I'd have to assume that they're not getting any calls from NY, so, they took the call from Cleveland.  And since the call was coming from Monken and not Haslam, they didn't wind up with the overwhelming urge to the offer down. 🙂

  • Impressed with Todd Monken's opening presser. My takeaway from the defensive side is that "we have great players and can find anyone to coach them in that scheme" paraphrasing of course so Schwartz needs to make up his mind pronto.

  • I just finished watching his introductory presser.

My favorite part was where he repeated what I've said somewhere in one of these HC related threads about building a system around your players to utilize their strengths that got them Into the NFL and not what they're not as good at.  He actually used my square pegs into round holes analogy.  ( commonly used, I know )  I always point to one of my favorite coaches as Don Shula because he RAN YOU into the ground with Cszonka, Kickk, and Morris.........and then he PASSED YOU TO DEATH with Marino and the Super Dupers.

I also got the impression that Schwartz is not coming back.  He answered be saying that he had, in fact, talked to Jim Schwartz.....but that's all he said....and kind of like, Yeah, I talked to him.   And later when talking about playing against our D he said, ' I wasn't to going to say it...but, I'm going to say it.  When I was chipping somebody, it wasn't Jim Schwartz I was chipping.  It was Myles Garrett.  When I was concerned about a blitz it wasn't Schwartz I was blocking, it was Grant Delpit. '.  etc.  He did state that the players shouldn't be concerned because he has no plans to change the defensive system.   -  I just felt that he was telling us that Jim's not coming back, and I don't need  him back.

He was asked about the starting QB's...he lumped the QB's among all of the players on the team without singling out a starter from a backup.

He said that the biggest change in the NFL is the analytics of 4th down.  How teams are using that down to go get the 1st down and be able to go get points.

He displayed his human side when acknowledging reaching his goal of becoming and NFL HC.

I like him.  I wish him all the luck.   Go Browns!

I'm sticking with my previous guess.. Jason Tarver will be promoted... Monken said they will continue to use Schwartz's system.

Enjoyable post!  Believe it or not, concerning this team I've always been a big fan of using that square peg - round hole analogy.  I must be getting old because I'm not using it nearly as frequently.  Then again, on a team that continued to neglect the OT position especially considering extended wear and tear to Conklin, Jones and Wills (combining for multiple IR visits among the trio).  32 year old journey man Cornelius Lucas and the flat lining career of Cam Robinson were only available for obvious reasons.  They can't help anyone's offense. I feel bad being so negative about them - but I need to be honest like the lyrics once said "You gotta be cruel to be kind."

Yeah, I hear ya.  We've got nothing personal against them.  But it's what fans do when they talk about their teams.  Whether it be on a message board, at a card table, or from a bar stool, it's what fans have always done.

Monken is in phase 1.  He's trying to assemble a staff.  He claims there's no time table for that because it takes as long as it takes to find the 'right' people.

After that he can start really evaluating the players that he has.  I'm certain however, that he and Berry have talked about the offensive personnel on the team such that he's well aware of the OL & WR groups requiring major overhauls.

And then he's got the combine.

    And then FA.

And then he's got the draft.

It's going to be a busy offseason for Todd Monken.

  • “With Todd, we love just his performance track record, what we heard about him with young players, his offensive track record was, quite honestly, unprecedented in terms of being on the open market. Pro, college, mobile quarterbacks, limited quarterbacks, star quarterbacks, air-raid system, power run game, it’s very rare that you can find a coach that doesn’t have a system but it truly fluid in adapting it to the personnel,” Berry said.

    -----

That's what I wanted.  I HC that isn't ruled by a system but can build an offense around the talent that he has.  Go Todd!

  • Planting a fan camp flag for one FA lineman Todd Monken coached down at Georgia ?

Hoping AB at least gets a FA player interview if not resigned..

G/T LA Chargers Jamaree Salyer  6th round pick #195 (draft experts missed imo)

Salyer's been asked to play well over his ski's, at every line position but Center since Georgia's 2021 Championship. Same reasons, Jamaree don't care what PFF (s)thinks..

in 2025    LT-250 snaps  RT- 42 snaps  RG- 157 snaps

Salyer is well down the PFF's FA ranking list ... GOOD !    Go get a Dawg Todd !

Nice!  Gumbs, it's also conceivable if the Browns traded back slightly there's another Dawg that played some really good LT at UGA - Monroe Freeling that could land on our draft slot.  That wouldn't suck!
