1972, BenGals at Browns. Browns hammered 'em 27-6, I was 9 years old. The BenGals botched the opening kickoff, as back then most teams had two guys back to return kicks. Cockroft put it between Boobie Clark and some other guy, the ball bounced around and the Browns recovered at the 4. The place was going nuts, I was immediately hooked on the Browns.

Two Alabama players in Kayden Proctor and Ty Simpson. I don't trust Proctor to maintain a decent weight and wonder how NFL ready he will be, and while I like Simpson, he should have never come out this draft. He has like 14 or so college starts. I always chuckle when I read or head someone say "So and so was so much better back in the day" because I still remember driving into Cleveland that day, and man, 1984 Cleveland was scary as fuck. October 28, 1984. Rutigliano had just been fired, it was Shottenheimer's first game as head coach. Browns lost 16-14. Ozzie Newsome had two receiving touchdowns. I always chuckle when I read or head someone say "So and so was so much better back in the day" because I still remember driving into Cleveland that day, and man, 1984 Cleveland was scary as fuck. Much better now.@dutch-ovenFunny you mention that. Me and my two friends used to take the bus downtown and go to the games, as far back as junior high school. It was kind of scary, walking past beggars, stuff like that. Kind of taught us a bit about being "street smart," looking over our shoulders a lot lol.
If I had young kids today, no way I'd let them do that now. The world is just a tad crazier, you can't trust anybody anymore sadly.
That game you mentioned, I actually caught Morten Anderson's game-winning field goal in that game. I think it was a 50+ yard FG in the rain?

That's crazy that you not only were at my first Browns game but also caught the game winning field goal!
I remember riding into Cleveland that day and just seeing one abandoned factory after another and thinking "Where in the hell are my parents bringing me?" I remember my dad parking in a lot in front of Cleveland Stadium, it was rainy/overcast, and Cleveland Stadium was enormous. The bathrooms were what nightmares are made of. It was fantastic. I was hooked.
Cleveland is a much nicer place now. I've never felt unsafe walking around downtown, especially in the last two decades or so. As I tell everyone visiting for the first time, as long as you don't set up shop on E.99th and trying to sell crack on someone elses turf, you are fine in Cleveland.

I think it was a 1989 model
Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I drove it for six or seven years into the early 2000s.
Reliable car the engine and transmission kept well but it mainly fell apart cosmetically - the roof liner sagged and tore open and buttons fell off.

We all drove beaters. That is why I went with a truck. It was in great mechanical condition and almost looked better with a few dings here and there. You have show trucks, this was a work truck. Gramps hauled all sorts of stuff at the end of his working years. My first great road trip was driving it back from Alabama to Ohio when I was 16.

I drive all vehicles in to the ground. I(t the only way to get your money out of them.

My dad and I took an old Ford F250 pickup.. Took off the old back panels and turned it into a stake bed truck.. Put a Wolmanized wood deck on the back for the bed then made storage compartments out of the same material around the bed then hand welded an iron ladder rack over the top.. It was a great service truck for us when we had a home improvement business back in the early 90's... I can't remember what year it was but I would venture to say it was late 60's early 70's.. We also had a chevy C-60 dump truck we called "Humble Hank"that was cool too...I wish I would've gotten snaps of them.. I have great memories of those vehicles and the jobs we did..
