RIP Demond Wilson "LeMont Sanford".. Sanford and Son was my all time favorite TV syndicated Sitcom.. I can remember many evenings sitting on my fathers lap watching it with him and laughing our asses off! Interesting fact .. LaWanda Paige who played Aunt Esther was a Cleveland native who spent most of her life in St.Louis.. Those words by Fred Sanford.."You big Dummy" shall echo forever in my mind..

They don't make them like they used to. May Desmond and Red and others who have passed on from the show RIP!

Nicks, I couldn't believe it when I heard on a radio show recently that Fred (Red Foxx) and Esther were best friends real life. When the show decided they wanted to make more episodes without Esther the game-changing Red Foxx said he didn't want to be any part of the show without his best friend. So they kept the series alive. LOVED that show. Even my mom loved it. They don't make sitcoms like that any more.

Yeah... Chico and the Man was pretty good too but it didn't carry the weight S and S and the Jeffersons did. Although Freddy Prinz and Jack Albertson had great chemistry together..... All in the Family was brilliant too.. My 3 fave sitcoms.. easily.. Goodtimes while entertaining was just a bit too campy for my taste.. SOAP was hilarious too.. Richard Mulligan played Bert to a tee.. Ted Wass and Billy Crystal were brilliant.. They wouldve made a great episode on Jerry Springer when you just look at all of the social baggage that show had.. Now because we have raised 2 generations of sissies we can't have funny shows like that today.. All the wokesters would be offended...

I hear ya about Good Times; but I used to think Willoma was hot though. I don't think she had to act too hard about JJ giving her creeps. There were so many good shows back then Nicks. The 1st time I put Sanford and Son on my mom said "I don't want to watch this crap!" 30 minutes she couldn't wait until it was on again. The Fred & Esther dynamic was even funnier than Archie Bunker & Maude or Archie & Meathead (although this one is by the slightest of margins).

Interestingly enough the woman who played Esther (LaWanda Paige) was born in Cleveland but lived most of her life in St.Louis Mo.
