Daisy Jones and the Six

This is a 10 episode one and done season on Amazon Prime. It’s loosely based on the Nicks/Buckingham era of Fleetwood Mac, and you’ll figure that out real quick just by watching the trailer. However, this is about a totally fictional band that started in Pittsburgh, PA.
There are 2 main characters, one is Billy Dunne, played by Sam Claflin, and he’s the initial frontman for this Pittsburgh band. They start making a name for themselves locally and bet on themselves by moving to LA to hit it big.
There they get matched up with a big time music producer who engineers getting Billy to work with Daisy Jones, played by Riley Keough (Elvis Presley’s granddaughter.)
And waddya know, they have great chemistry and sound great together. Daisy is basically like the Stevie Nicks of the band, and Billy is the Lindsey Buckingham of the band. The rest of the band members in The Six also similarly resemble the members of Fleetwood Mac.
Don’t go looking for historical similarities between the 2 bands beyond that, because there isn’t much of that. There are similarities with drug use and combustible relationships within the band though.
The show was just ok for me, but the music was great. It’s a period show set in the late 1960s through mid 1970s, and they did a good job with the cars and fashion of the times. Some aspects of the plot were a little funky for me though, and it gets a little heavy at times seeing some of the downward spiraling with some of the characters.
The music though, it really is solid. Throughout the course of the series we basically get to see the band write an album, and that album is available on streaming platforms and some were even pressed to vinyl. They’re original songs written stylistically like Fleetwood Mac songs. By the time the series ends some of them will be earwormed into you.
I’ll give it an overall grade of B-.

One of my favorites from the soundtrack. it starts off a little slow but turns in to a foot stomper by the middle.
