How Optimistic Are You About The Browns In '26?
Wow. Umm...err....I dunno.
We're going to have 4 or 5 new guys on the OL. If it's 5 then most probably 2 of 'em will be rookies. The offense kind of relies on the success of that unit.
We've got 2 rookie WR's that the offense (& QB) will be relying on. How reliable will they be in their rookie season?
Will the QB position require an upgrade after the season?
Will our defense take a step backwards under new management?
How quickly will the offense master the new playbook / system?
There's a ton of unknowns as we head into the '26 season. It's as though there's a whole bunch of ducks scattered across the field that have to form a row.
On paper we should be improved on the offensive side of the ball. I'd like to think that our improved OL will help Judkins be the RB that we saw flashes of last season. He's a tough running sumbitch. And that coupled with an improved WR group should open up a better passing attack. We could be a substantially better football team. But there's a lot of things that have to go right.
Would you accept....cautiously optamistic?

When does the schedule come out?
I have a guys weekend in Atwater the last Sunday in September with a whole bunch of guys from Western PA (but strangely few Steelers fans) and am curious who they play that week.

According to ESPN, the NFL is targeting a date between May 12 and May 14 to release the full schedule. In each of the past two years, the NFL has released the schedule on a Wednesday, so if the league sticks to that plan, then the release date will fall on May 13. However, the league did release the schedule on a Thursday in both 2022 and 2023, so May 14 could certainly be possibility this year. As for Tuesday, May 12, it seems highly unlikely, so at this point, it seems pretty safe to assume that the schedule will be coming out on May 13 or 14, so be sure to clear your calendar.

Based on everything that has transpired since Shitfansky's ouster I'm very optimistic and encouraged by what I have heard coming from Todd Monken... I think this as long as QB play is good will surprise some... I'm not printing SB tix but, I haven't felt this good about the Browns in years...
As hard as I have been on AB I'm gonna give him some cred... I think the stench of Depodesta has wore off.... No more gamplan approvals from that nut job... Good riddance to him and kevvy!

I'm optimistic for a couple simple reasons:
- new coaching staff brings fresh new ideas ( I hope) to re-energize the veterans
- the addition of what appears to be a good draft class & some decent FA signings adds to what I think may be an up & coming young team
Like others wrote, I'm not expecting playoffs, but it wouldn't shock me if they got in.

I see 7-8 wins with a slightly worse defense and an improved but erratic offense
i see 7-8 wins

This is along the lines of what l’m thinking. I think as the season goes we’ll see incremental improvement, but l’m guessing we’ll see some growing pains early on.
Bunch of new guys on the O-line learning to play together, new coaches with new terminology, and the defense is pretty good but l don’t know how great the depth is so if a Garrett or a Ward goes down it will put a big ol’ dent in the armor. Heck, when Collins went down last year we saw a difference.
I figure Monken is under some pressure to “see what we have” with the young QBs and that may take some time.
Some of you are of a mind that this season is about building a foundation, and l agree with that.

Just a piggy on to your points above and that of others. If my/our intuition that we had a 2nd consecutive great draft is correct (as well as the acquisition of veteran depth on the OL via FA/trades despite losses of Teller, Pocic, Conklin and possibly Bitonio); while Dawand Jones looks like a weight loss ad for Wegovy - I think we have ourselves a pulse that's gonna circulate as far rested legs for the D. It's like the Browns replenished enthusiasm and optimism while restoring opportunities for experienced OL veterans. It's gonna be fun seeing reliable chemistries develop upfront again. Do I dare say I see good depth again on the OL and the offense as a whole? Ooops, too late.
Now, we have Receivers that can get open immediately or anywhere on the field. This has to make it easier on a young QB to be more accurate and decisive at the speed of the game. Coming off 8-26 football in the last 2 years - I'm rooting for at least 9 wins with hopes of winning 1 or 2 more by accident.

"Vegas oddsmakers have set the Cleveland Browns' 2026 win total at 6.5, with most books favoring the under (-120 to -175). Despite an elite defense, concerns regarding the offensive line, quarterback stability, and a difficult schedule have led to expectations of a 6-11 or 7-10 season. Some analysts suggest betting the over."
Fuckit, I'm taking the over ???

Good advice. I see us drafting between 10-15 next year to start. So one of these Browns QBs better play lights out.

Exactly.
Sounds simple ( is there such a thing in Cleveland? Lol).
Go at least 5-3 at home, and win in Paris. Only one more win needed, how about at Pittsburgh? #woof

this makes no sense, if our offense is improved wouldn't that intern let our defense rest a little longer instead of a 3 and out or a turnover ? also we really did not lose anyone on D and added a couple of guys via the draft, so please tell me how our defense will be worse ?

Glad you're bringing this up. Season ending injuries in your 30's aren't great, especially in a contact heavy spot like the trenches.
With how porous the OL was, it rightfully received the bulk of the attention this off-season. But with all those resources being diverted there, I'm worried we have another potential hole in our IDL again.

If the line can gel quickly and we get “good” QB play this is a playoff team. I rate both of these as unlikely. You’re more likely to see both in short spurts and probably toward the end of the year. So we could be a tough out in December and spoil our draft position.
Weapons. I think nowadays you are likely to see rookie WRs produce early. I think this group is more likely to win its battles when protection fails or when the QB isn’t perfect. Last year that wasn’t the case.
Defensively…Myles, Ward and Carson if you get 15 plus games out of each of them. There is no reason this unit isn’t at least as good and probably better than last year. McNeil Warren, Delpit and Graham particularly can shine in complementary roles next season. Corner depth worries me a bit. New staff is a bit of an unknown…do we see communication issues like we saw 3-4 years ago in the secondary?
Specials- I think we only have one way to go “up” in regard to kick coverage.
New coach buzz and schedule I think are helpful intangibles.
From a betting standpoint over 6.5 looks great. I would probably go with 8 wins.
I would expect a ceiling of 10 wins and call that very unlikely…average 7-8 wins call that likely and floor of 5 wins and call that unlikely.

1. Our D played lights out last year, just to reach that level again will be a task itself. So we may be worse by default.
2. The league has ample time to adjust to what they seen last year.
3. Swartz is gone and we have a new DC.
I think we'll still have a great D and I don't think our offense could do much worse than last year.
Does Watson come back out in good shape, or does he set the team back by getting the nod for start then crash out mid season?
Plus we have a new HC and new bodies on the line. How long will it take for all the new guys and a new system to come together? QB and WRs need time to get reps in on top of that. I didn't hear much about our running backs.
I think this year may be rough, does having a losing season cause Garrett to exit? I hope not. Or do we have enough crappy opponents to pullout some wins?

I think if we play complementary football meaning we aren’t leaving the defense on the field for 35-38 mins a game or with short fields I think they can fare better
