The Brendan Sorsby Saga
-
Physically talented QB who was a possible 2027 first round pick is now being investigated for betting on college football. Rumored to be considering entering the supplemental draft. The Browns since Haslam bought the Browns love them some QBs with questionable character concerns. I could see the Browns pulling the trigger on him.

dude has been betting games since grade school. fuck him,
edit : remember Art Schlichter ? this dude is the same guy

He ended up getting arrested by the FBI in my hometown at a restaurant on the east side of town.

He played for UC last year so l’m familiar with him, and l’ve seen the stuff about the Browns’ supposed interest. The proximity to the legend of Pete Rose isn’t lost on me.
I don’t know what to think. Bernie was a supplemental draft guy too if you recall.
Gambling has never been my vice of choice but it’s obviously sketchy when you have a say in the outcome. Would the guy throw a game?

I'd take the bet he'd be a Cardinal before he's a Jet
NFL supplemental draft rules
The order for the supplemental draft differs from the standard draft. To determine the order for the supplemental draft, teams are divided into three groups: teams with six or fewer wins the year before, non-playoff teams with more than six wins and playoff teams. The order for each of these groups is then determined by a weighted lottery system, giving an advantage to the team with the fewest wins the year prior.
Teams then place bids on a player they are interested in taking and the round they would select that player in. If multiple squads bid on a player in the same round, the team higher in the draft order lands the player.

The Clase thing didn’t ruin the Tribe but that’s a different organization in every way.

Not mentioned in this whole thing is that because of Iowa State many years ago, all B12 athletes were mandated to load an app on their phones which would notify school admins if any betting was happening. Because of this, all of Sorsby's betting was on a burner... which means he has less than no shot at winning an appeal.
I wouldn't take him because he's not notably better than ones we have on roster.

Sounds like gambling to me. Aloof politics. This is gambling but the nfl allows it, but doesn’t allow it? Which form of gambling is acceptable? Guess is the one that gets NFL Owners all of the money, not unlike Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
go play the lottery, you will likely win…. Ok. MLB NBA NFL don’t care… what puts money in my pocket. Any owner knows that is the goal.

He should have been "investing" in "prediction markets". Even better if he has any insider information...

That is because he was a closer. It isn't that hard to find a good closer. It's more about being given the ball in the 9th inning. Replacing a QB is a different matter.

Did they let him cash in on the chicken wings special before handcuffing him?

East Park had a killer open face roast beef sandwich… and pretty tasty chicken too ?
NICE! I'm not heavy - just easy to cook for...

Betting allegations? Character concerns? He sounds like a Cleveland Brown to me.

Reading into the greeting and body language when Shedeur met Monken I don’t think this is happening. Sorsby in equals Shedeur out and out without an opportunity.
