i think if he makes the team, it will be as a WR/WildDawg guy

Berry has stated that he wants four QB's in the building.  Three on the 53, one will be the emergency QB on game-day, and one on the practice squad.  So, I'm thinking that he makes the team as a QB.

he can still WR and WILDDAWG while being our emergency QB

If he's transitioning to WR, it needs to be now.   He just went through rookie mini camp as a QB, so that switch is on hold for another year, barring complete miracle.

The downside to being a Wild*insert preferred paw'd creature here* is the obviousness of the package.    The Ravens maintain +1 at nearly all times because of Lamar being their full-time starter.   Tossing in Taylen is an immediate ears-up to the QB-centric running game.   Given the limitations that would be installed in the passing game when he's taking the snaps, there's an argument to that sort of thing being an immediate disadvantage to the offense.

Disclaimer:  Not so much in pre-season.

Nope.  The emergency QB can only come into the game if the other QB's (both of 'em) get hurt and cannot continue to play.

Good point.  I guess I should have been more clear about mine, which is my fault.  Beyond a gadget, pure athlete type play here and there; if Taylen is making the change to WR this year, then it needs to happen now.      But you bring up TP, who played QB his first 3 seasons.  So, like Pryor, I think Taylen should* be given a similar timeframe.  (Unless he's just THAT bad in pre-season. To the point of not functioning)

Love me some Gruden because he loves him some Ohio.  I'm still waiting for him to make an appearance and Mount Union so I can go get my autograph.

  • Gruden doesn't know the difference between dayta and data.  🙂

I'm pretty sure that a team that needs quality WR's is going to try and switch a 6th round pick QB to WR this season.

  • If its not Watson I don't even know what the browns are playing at.

  • It depends on what game we are talking about.

  • Monken had stated that he'd like to name the starting QB, Sooner than later. Now that the offseason programs are wrapped up he says he's not worried about going to TC without a named starting QB because he's comfortable in the progress that Watson and Sanders have made throughout the offseason programs.

I take that as a positive for Sanders. That the 3 first round pick, quarter of a billion $ QB hasn't beaten out the 5th round pick. I've been saying all along that I expect Watson to win the job. But if it's neck and neck at the finish line I think you go with the younger guy.

  • From what Daryl Ruiter said on The Fan this morning, the QBs in question are wildly inconsistent. One good day followed up with a stinker.

This probably isn't getting settled until sometime in August.

Another reason you don't do it before Training Camp begins is that new starting jobs need to be earned/won at Center, LG, RG, and 1/both OT spots as well as 1-2 WR spots. That's quite a bit change coming to chemistry/cohesiveness/timing/trust, experience before they even add contact to the challenges.

The consistent Bleacher reports in tandem with what Mary Kay Cabot paraphrases from what she reads on the OBR and other message boards isn't gonna tell us anything we don't already know. Now that I'm soooooo tired that I'm RE-tired - time to take the Warden to the beach and hide the lookers in shades. The LAST thing I want to encounter there is Kvoethe in a thong wearing a t-shirt above the belly button that says "I kicked Anorexia's Ass" or "Shedeur Sanders got caught speeding!"

  • Mary K: Perhaps they would be underestimating the reaction that would be happening at Huntington Bank Field... if Deshaun wins the job

    -- --

OK....so then, we're to have the fans decide who the starting QB should be.

Should it be ALL fans? Or perhaps just season ticket holders? How about fans shorter than 5'9" so that Gabriel has a shot to start?

Not a fan of the title. "Not an NFL QB". While this may just be me sort of being an asshole for details, but it's also vaguely insulting. He is an NFL QB; but at the moment, not a good one. And yes, his rookie season was rough for multiple reasons. A couple of those reasons his own making.

Well, let's see, Flacco did just as miserable as Sanders last season. So, I guess he's not an NFL QB either.

As much as I'd like to say that Sanders sucked last year, which he did, our QB position had nothing to work with. No WR's. Injured RB who couldn't get any yards anyway because there were no holes to run through. I don't know how that statistic ended but for the longest time Judkins was the RB that was hit in the backfield more than any other. The QB position got no help from the OL, WR's or running game. All we had was Fannin and Njoku. And that was terrible because we needed to find out if we needed to draft a QB or not. Now we have to do it all over again this year. (although we probably found out that the midget isn't in our future)

  • Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders were recently spotted working out together with several of Cleveland’s pass catchers,

I read this today. Supposedly Concepcion & Judy were among those 'pass catchers'. This is on their summer vacation time they're doing this. Say what you want about Watson, but at this point in time, he's working to be an NFL QB. And as down on Judy as people have been, he's also showing effort. As is Sanders and whoever the other pass catchers are. This is good ! The more those two groups can become familiar with each other, the better it will be.
