The Brendan Sorsby Saga

  • Reading into the greeting and body language when Shedeur met Monken I don’t think this is happening.   Sorsby in equals Shedeur out and out without an opportunity.

Good points both ways.  I’m interested…Could be wrong but I don’t think it is going to take a 3rd rounder.  Would you take a 5th (we have many). He gets a redshirt year and gets help perhaps put on the Commissioners exempt list he’s not counted on the active roster.  We use 2026 to evaluate the guys we have now.  Watson likely not back in 2027, same with Gabriel and unless Shedeur flashes in a significant way we will likely look elsewhere and his team or our team will probably want him out of Cleveland.  So you have Green Sorsby and 2027 draftee.  Maybe you flip Sorsby for a higher pick in 2027.

    That seems reasonable

  • The college season will be starting before we know it, here's one guy's opinion on the 2027 QB class... which should be of keen interest to Browns fans

I'll never forget Art Schlichter or Pete Rose any more than either guy could never forget their addiction to gambling never goes away.  The NFL shouldn't allow someone like this to play regardless of how talented he is.  One has to wonder how many college and pro sports officials for basketball/football/baseball/hockey/etc that we're going to be reading about in the near future.

So, what is going on in our sports world today?  One can now gamble easier than ever as conveniently as online.  They're not missing any opportunities to advertise this either.

The NFL will probably suspend him when he enters the league.

But they'll let the TTUN coaching staff flee from college football after committing the biggest on-field cheating scandal and enter the NFL with open arms.

    Interesting.

Precisely Dutch!  And here's what followed Pete Carroll's departure from USC to the Seattle Seahawks besides a huge raise: image.png.b6a1799af816252aeed6a0d603b9749e.png

If that's not enough - didn't Jimmy Johnson already have 2 SB rings in Dallas by the time the Miami Hurricanes went on Probation in 95 from stuff that took place during 3 of his seasons there followed by others after him?  That's just two of many reasons why I worded it "The NFL shouldn't allow" from my unobstructed viewing seat in the white noise section...

Let's pretend the NFL would suspend Sorsby and give him a chance - are you saying you would want him to get a shot at the Browns?  Would you trust the addiction habit he hasn't been able to control yet?   That's like giving a box of matches to a pyromaniac and assuring everyone: "don't worry I told him to be careful..."

  • Throw in a fourth and take a shot.  4th rounders are a coin flip to make a roster anyway.

But because he's nowhere near a Josh Gordon value, I'm not risking anything before day 3.

  • I dont want the fuck in the locker room , remember JFF ?

  • Here's the deal.  The player knew that he was breaking the rules in a major way.  What's his excuse?  He's not being paid enough money to get by?  It's not like he was taking performance enhancing drugs in order compete with his piers.  The player just does not properly value following rules.  Therefore I cannot have him on my team.  I don't care that he's having a 'Come To Jesus' episode, or in gambling rehab.  He's a rule breaker and those leopards don't typically change their spots.

But wait ? there's more . some will say he deserves another chance , to them i say, I am sure he has run out of those in his football career, Maybe somewhere else in life will he receive his second chance.

His excuse is he has a problem that he can’t control.  He’s sitting on what 99% of people would say is a winning lottery ticket.  He becomes a third round pick and flames out after his rookie year he still grosses out around 5-6M.  He invests his money well he doesn’t have to work 40 hours a week for the rest of his life.   That would be enough reason for most to not do stupid things- unless you have a problem you can’t control.

You mean like another prior Browns QB on a swan?

Taking another would be just another Browns QB mistake they don't need.

We don't need to be wasting any draft picks on another QB.  Like last season, we need to evaluate the QB's that we have in order to determine if we have to go all in on a QB in '27.  The reason that we seem stuck in Groundhog Day is that we have two important additions to the QB situation this year.  1)  Watson is added to the mix.  2)  Monken is the new HC, which makes point 1 relevant.

...and we have the Olympian  as our developmental QB.  NEXT year we can go crazy at QB if what we've got flames out.

edit:   Here's how the Olympian  gets to play.  Watson plays dumb...he runs and takes on tacklers instead of sliding.  He'll be hurt in short order.  Shedeur will be playing for his football life.  He'll be running and not sliding out of desperation to keep the starting job...so he'll get hurt.  The midget will then come in and get hurt because...well...he's a midget.  Hopefully, by then, someone will have taught the Olympian where to throw the ball when receivers are crossing the field.

STOP IT!  You're spoiling us.  I hit the deck LMAO twice just in that bolded part alone.  We did finally add some OL help (veterans AND rookies) to protect the passer...

All they have to teach him is to throw it so far out in front of them there is no way he thinks they can catch up to it. That will be just perfect for 3 of them, Bond, Concepcion and Boston.⚡

    Cha-CHING!

I'd love to see this kid play WR while he's waiting to be ready to play QB in 5 years.  The alternative is to waste him just sitting or making him inactive.  I can almost hear a liquored up Dr Frasier Crane at Cheers "Would someone please explain the thought process behind sitting a 6'6" MAN with 4.36 speed and a 43.5" vertical instead of lining him up on the perimeter to catch passes downfield. Woody & Lilith please sit this one out or I'll be running with scissors again in no time!"

Ridiculous, based on past effort Watson will be sliding in the pocket and throwing to 12 foot receivers.

Incredibly versed with impulse control problems.  They tend to overlap with DiD, BPD, Manic behavior, etc etc.

The odds he overcomes his issue, without developing some other vice or comorbidity is slim to none.    To me, spending anything other than a later day 3 is just lighting money on fire for the sake of it.
