In Case You Aren't Depressed Enough

yep the browns certainly are circling the drain and despair clouds our being:::
there are options to their overstated qb dilemma:
2000 Baltimore Rat Birds on their march to the NFL Super Bowl had a combined QB rating of 73 (Dilfer, Banks)....Early in the season there were bounties on their heads by those fans who perceived the situation as hopeless...
Rat Birds went five straight games without scoring a SINGLE TD!......the death threats increased
The team recognized they had assets beyond their half wit QB's.......they did not divide in the face of adversity and random sniper rounds
They turned to their Defense who seized the moment and carried the team all the way to 2001 Super Bowl Champs........
I conceed they did have assets (Ray Lewis and a young J Lewis) that may superseed the current Browns talent pool....yeeeeaaaa
Hey Jamaal why don't you tell the story yourself to your underachieving, thumb suckin', non play makin', so called teammates...
just maybe......how bout it.....some inspired, proud Cleveland Brown (on the D of course) will rally the troops and face the rest of the season in a matter befitting of one
who understands the responsibilities that go with donning the Cleveland Browns uniform..
it may not be too late

someone should seriously show this to Mangini. SERIOUSLY.
Garbage time statistics are something for BQ Nation and Stat Queers to ponder, not NFL head coaches.

I usually do not respond to your child-like antics, actually you are on my "don't read assholes garbage" list. You are a misguided, wretched, P.O.S. One thing is for sure, you are not a Browns fan. I actually "almost", feel sorry for you........NOT. This article was one of the best I have read, but I'm sure that you won't get it, being that you are in denial about the truth.

And if the Browns can beat only teams that DID NOT have winning records last year then they would still win 8 games this year.
You just posted an article that Flugs should have written because he did it better.
We know that DA and the Browns beat only one team in 2007 with a playoff record, and one in 2008 also.
DA is not going to save the season, but he might make it more entertaining. Of course he made my whole he does not throw multiple interceptions in any more games percentage wise than BQ (which was true before last week) pretty week after throwing 3 in one half. But the fact remains that DA still produces TDs at a fairly high rate and that is something the Browns need.
Though I actually do disagree with the benching of BQ, as I thought he deserved more starts. I also disagree with people that think DA can not learn and that he is what he is because of a season of half of play. Allot of the people saying he is what he is are the ones that were making arguments that BQ needed time to grow. I don't think that BQ got his time but I don't think DA has either.
But I would find it hard to argue with the point that the QB of the future for the Browns is not on the roster right now. DA is not that answer, he might be the answer for MR right now though while the Browns build the team through the draft.
I think the discussions on the board should move away from which crappy QB should we start and to how would you build the team. Would you build the OL or the DL first. Do you want impact defensive players or impact offensive players first. Me, I don't think that the Browns should try and pattern themselves after the Patriots but after the Ravens. Go get some defense and then you can play the ball control offense and eventually get lucky with a QB.
A QB is not going to turn this franchise around. Build the Line play and the defense and worry about the "skill" position players later. Look at the good teams in the division, they build with defense and a nice offense is secondary. That is what the Browns need to do, and I do think there are some keepers on defense. But go out and get some impact players. Don't draft a QB in the first round, draft defense and OL play and try and get a good RB in free agency. Somebody like taylor off of Minnesota, like the falcons got with turner. Get the great back up of an even better back.
Screw the QB at this point, like many have said before. Any QB you bring in right now is going to get ruined.

The article sounds as though it was written by flugel or one of the other Anderson haters.
I can't really figure out what argument it's making to start Quinn. It comes out with a list where he's ranked 21st after 6 starts. Whoop-d-doo. It's not like it's a list of top six start performers, if Anderson had been included he'd have been above Garcia at 16.
The Browns have 2 QBs right now who're apparently getting starts this season. One of them threw for a bit over 900 yards and 3 TDs in 6 starts, one of them threw for 1400 yards and 11 TDs in 6 starts. One of them pushes the ball downfield, one doesn't.... I'm thinking that comes into a coach's thought process more than what other QBs in history may or may not have done.

Listen dipshit,Flugel is a Browns fan that brings more to this board than most and certaintly more than a DA non Brown fan supporter like yourself so leave him out of this.
The article is true and factual and it is what it is DA is average with all the same tendancies and deficiencies he's always had and will never change and isnt going to lead any team to anything other than frustration and the reason why many here dont care to see him play.
I understand your nowhere near as annoying as your neighbor but leave those who have credibility on this board alone, your not in their league.
Rankings? what was your boy ranked last year 34th?
STFU.
Unfortunately, until there's a better QB on the roster it appears DA's it.

i dont care. this article makes more sense to me than the big bang theory.
You are now a member of BQueer Nation. Congratulations.
Your Brada Kappa Queera name is lotion boy.

You know, Lums..... you are the biggest asshole on these boards and then it occurred to me: If you got hit by a bus, do you even have anyone in your life that would even give a shit? Because I seriously doubt it...... no one would notice and no one would care.

Anyway, predictions for Sunday? I hope the BROWNS win. Whether it be DA or BQ, i hate Cincy and HATE that theyre the Ohio team thats coming out of the cellar....If neither of these guys can show that they can be the guy, who gives a f!ck about their confidence and ego - switch them out week in and week out. DO SOMETHING to salvage at least A COUPLE wins this year.
My prediction? Ain't pretty. Assuming form holds, the Browns are going to get blown out on Sunday.
Oh, DA starts out with another 3 picks, sure bench his ass.

Well written and researched article.
Would have been so much easier if Quinn would have actually shown something in the 10 quarters this year.
sigh
-
Yeah, Anderson got 27 starts, and had an unmentionable qb rating his last outing. Until Quinn gets the same chance, STFU.
No Anderson gets more of a chance because he goes for 5 TDs in his 4th start. That buys leash.
Getting the coach and GM a contract extension buys more leash.
Quinn hasn't done anything like that.
-
I think you guys may fail to realize something about Quinn:
He could be making all the wrong decisions
He could be calling the wrong check with me's.
He could be missing guys on intermediate and deeper routes
He could be regressing in his play
I'm not that impressed with the article, because if we took DA's first 6 starts we could do the same for him, and maybe one day this weekend I will compare Peyton's 27 starts to DA's 27 starts. Face it, not many new QB's beat the majority of winning teams they face, especially when the Defense and running game suck!
Now I don't have time to do all the guys on that list but here is a sampling of the guys he mentioned plus DA/Quinn:
Mcnair had 1700 yards and 9/6 his first 6 starts
Collins had 1127 yards and 6/6 his first 6 starts
Gannon had 1158 yards and 7/2 his first 6 starts
McNabb had 782 yards and 8/7 his first 6 starts
E Mann had 833 yards and 6/9 his first 6 starts
P Mann had 1364 yards and 6/14 his first 6 starts
Quinn has 958 yards and 3/5 his first 6 starts
DA had 1402 yards and 11/11 his first 6 starts
If you were going to be fair, you'd maybe want to give DA another chance at this thing. But that's just me.
Again, not many QB's come into the league and light up teams with winning records, PLUS, all those losses were not his fault.

Why don't you make yourself useful and do a comparison of Manning, Manning, McNabb, Warner and DA in thier first 27 starts. You are one lazy SOB.

DD, good post. And you're absolutely right that Quinn might be doing everything wrong. It's entirely possible he's as bad as some would have us think.
That's not at all the issue.
The issue is that we don't know and that it's IMPOSSIBLE to know how good ANY player is in 10 quarters (I'm only talking this season; easy, fellas) let alone a quarterback who has barely played.
It's just that simple. There is no denying that DA gives us a better chance to win on Sunday and no one has denied that. But Jeff Garcia would give us a better chance to win on Sunday, too, even if he just walked in off the street and put on the Brown and Orange. That's simply a testament to experience and any QB who has managed to make a career in the NFL should be good enough to walk in and manage a game well.
Quinn is a rookie starter at the most difficult position in sports. It's just plain wrong to think that you can judge a QB after 10 quarters.
And even Z and ATE have basically admitted all they care about is having fun on Sunday. And I can respect that, even if it's the wrong answer for the long-term. I'm not paying the money to go there and watch the suck so I get it.
But that doesn't make it the right answer, objectively speaking.

And I completely agree, but I ALSO think giving up on DA isn't the best course of action either. If you told me this preseason Quinn most definitely beat our DA I would beg to differ. At this point I have to regain some hope for the season, and that means for now hoping DA can become a good starting QB.
The reason there is so much poor debate on this issue is because we all have not looked at DA with a fair eye because of 2-3 jackasses on the board not making thier case for DA.
We'll see. I want to see some comparable numbers between DA and some of the other top QB's in 27 starts. Because in 6 starts DA blows Quinn out of the water, and even compares very favorably with Peyton Manning.....
Because saying he didn't beat teams with winning records is not a fair shot. His team could not support his mistakes, which all young QB's need.
-
Great points, DD. And you're right that the well of discussion for DA has been poisoned by one over-zealous fan in particular.
Honestly, if DA looks like a legit QB on Sunday, I'll consider changing my tune on him.
As I've said a million times, I don't anticipate that happening but that doesn't mean I won't be pleasantly surprised if it does.
Still and all, I very much doubt he will magically turn into a #1 QB. He just doesn't seem to have any of the requirements beyond the arm.
And that's not a whole lot to get excited about given the state of our franchise. The arm just ain't enough.

I don't want Anderson to suck. I want him to rock. I refuse to hate him just because Lums makes it so easy.I completely agree.
As long as he wears the cool orange helmet with just the white and brown stripes on it....I'm rooting for him to succeed.
