Inside the (very simple) minds of MAGA voters

  • There was a recent housing bill passed in both wings of congress with overwhelming bipartisan support, and normally that would be really cool.

On the surface it solves the housing crisis by limiting the single family homes that the Blackrock Corporations of the world can snatch up, and other provisions that make home ownership more affordable.

I have my doubts on how it will stop the Blackrocks of the world because they can easily create subsidiary after subsidiary to snatch up another batch of 350 houses, but at least it’s a step in the right direction.

But Trump is blocking it because he didn’t get his way with the SAVE America act. This shit is getting tired.

Home ownership has gotten significantly tougher in the last 10 years. If you purchased prior to Covid, you’re sitting pretty. But after? Get ready to pony up.

Congress passes the largest housing affordability bill in...

President Trump canceled a signing ceremony for the bill Wednesday, saying Congress must first pass a strict voter ID bill.

Hopefully there's a reasonable solution to this, same as companies/people buying up farmland without the purpose of farming.

I'm incredibly fortunate I had the savings and income to get a house at 25 and snag a house a few years before covid. Now my home is up 60%+ in estimated value and my rate is in the low 3%s. I'll never sell that house.

I can to experience a fraction of the good fortune previous generations had with the housing market. From a mix of hard work, budgeting, location, and luck.

Also, no surprise Trump is throwing a tantrum. Either for his other bill or for his business friends that no doubt would lose money from this bill. Gotta keep the swamp happy

I’ve experienced both sides, buying property pre and post Covid. I’m hardly a real estate mogul, it’s a grand total of 3 properties and one was sold years ago. It was a big difference though in the cost and rates.

I think it’s a good thing for the govt to address, and it appears 80% of the govt is on board. You can’t say that about much these days.

It’s hard enough to get the govt to budge on something that benefits us regular working folks without one guy making it even harder. Just sign the damn thing.

Again, and I've said it on here multiple times. It's not left vs right. It's top vs bottom. And the guy in charge right now is doing whatever he can to enrich himself and his buddies at the top. It's just such a damn shame such a large portion of the country fall for these wedge issues, the social wars, the left vs right team based hysteria. They fall for it blindly and then vote against their own best interests. Out of ignorance, out of thinking they'll be rich one day, out of being incredibly lucky and fortunate boomers that just want to keep the system as it is because of their silver spoon. Whatever the case. Just a damn shame.

The DSA surge is good for america. A real progressive movement for real change and the right is terrified

Trump has now arrested more people for touching the pool than for touching children.

And absolutely hilarious you morons believe the pool looks like this because of vandals. Just completely hilarious new levels of ignorance

Trump is just the President, it's not his job to arrest anyone and not even within his powers.

I got the impression the legislation was a reasonable solution. I admit l haven’t read it all, but 80% of congress seems to think so.

I don’t think we’re at the same tipping point on farmland yet. The govt still regularly hands out subsidies to farmers to not grow crops, partially to manipulate supply and demand and partially for conservation purposes. I think that’s generally a good move. Farmers need to bank on a buck after a season of work, so they need to know their efforts will be worth that buck, and not less, so they can afford to do it all over again next season.

No no cal, blindly believe whatever Trump tells you. The vendor he hand picked but knew nothing about, that he'd done business with in the past, that needed a no bid contract to make July 4th, did a great job and there were no issues, and if there are Trump doesn't know the vendor, but actually if there are it's vandalism, and it was done by a knife, though Trump said a knife couldn't cut it, and there's totally evidence of vandalism so we arrested people, but no evidence has been shared ...

This whole reflecting pool thing is a micro example of the idiocy of MAGA

I don’t recall one little thing from you about Obammy flailing when he spent $34 million on the pool.

You still have some of his man juice on your chin.

Whatever failure you're believing in your head tied to Obama, do you think that failure comes anywhere close to what we're seeing now with Trump?

Trump is on a crusade to leave a "legacy" wherever he can. Partially because he hates Obama and wants to erase his stuff. Partially because Trump is just a narcissist. Partially, maybe, cuz he knows he's got limited time left and this is just a grasping with mortality thing.

Regardless, is the reflecting pool that big of a deal? No. Is it a perfect microcosm of everything that is this giant failure of an administration? Yes. The incompetence. The corruption. The lies. The making us look bad. The all around shit show of it all. It just fits so well. And pairs perfectly with his all time low approval ratings

The fallacy is you believing the rest of the world ever liked us. We might have had some global goodwill in the late 40s but the Korean war less than a decade later already started putting the kibosh on that. By the time you were born the rest of the world already thought we were a bunch of assholes and neither Obama or Trump did a damn thing to fix that.

Where in my post that you quoted did I mention anything about how the rest of the world perceives us?
