I like the idea of it, and i'm not adverse to differing opinions and discussions. But regardless now I may be held responsible for what people post here (even though the ToS says I'm not, you never know how the law might interpret things). Leaving it archived is even questionable for me. It seems completely unmoderated to me at this point, there's doxxing and hateful remarks and various things that I'm not comfortable hosting.
Maybe if the moderator group proves they can adequately moderate the rest of the board I'd be open to re-opening a political board, but I can't allow anything that's very gray or 4chan-like that might get my servers flagged for anything malicious.
I would just say if your gonna choose moderators.. Choose them fairly.. by that I mean people who are on both sides of the Aisle.. Not all on one side... This can be done collectively.
Since there is no Poliboard anymore, there is no "both sides of the aisle". There's only Browns fans.

By and large it accomplished that. I don’t know if anyone could have predicted how gross and weird it would turn in to, but clearly there’s an outlet for it. It was statistically the second most popular forum here. I bear my part of the shame in that.
But it was also a place we could discuss politics on the internet with entities we were reasonably certain were actual people, and l think that’s a diminishing thing on the internet these days. -

Open to bringing it back, but this board kinda died over the last few years and that board especially felt completely unmoderated and unregulated.
Not that we should censor opinions or suppress opposing views (I don't believe in that, of course) - but we also cant be linking facebook as a source of information or having name and shame for people's personal social media accounts.
Generally political boards are tough...and for the re-launch I felt it best not to try to solve the age old problem that nobody else has been able to solve. (I mean if you look at 4chan, twitter, facebook, bluesky) - every political board turns into an echo chamber.
I wish the world wasn't like that and people could be reasonable and discuss things rationally, but alas that is especially not the case with politics for whateverreasons. -
If someone would moderate the political board, and maybe make it a type of board where you could only post from real news sources (like bbc, foxnews, cnn, CBS, nbc, whatever) - and then discuss the article contents in the thread. That would be great with me. I'd implement the code side of things to change the format but need reliable moderation so it doesnt break the doxing or threat rules.
(I dont want to see a Facebook post from ConspiracyTheorist69 about how Obama is affiliated with Al Qaeda or whatever) -

I can do anything, know that invision is actually a good modern product - it just costs a boat load and they hold your data hostage on their cloud platform. So my goal was to get out of it. But I can do anything and have already changed the NodeBB format a whole lot.
Though I am aware of some issues like mobile not being great and things - like I said I realized it was a TNF game against Pittsburgh and I didnt wanna keep the site offline for it. I don’t think you can moderate it any better than it has been moderated given the current state of political news coverage these days. Steve and Woody kept the bots and the spam and the porn out, but the end result is what it is.

I could moderate it. Woody has shown he can too. Axe is a good candidate if he’s willing to do it. But l don’t think any of us will do anything more that keep the bots and the spam and the porn out, so you’ll be stuck with the same bullshit. -
