You're the expert T, but man I don't understand how we're winning games with Watson as a major liability. Slow on his reads, and not seeing guys who are wide open.
On that one TD ball to Boston (that was out of bounds) it looked like he had a wide open option on the opposite side of the field but I don't recall exactly.@bbedward Hey BB, that's not the only one- by a long shot. We're winning in spite of Watson, not because of him. Teams now know the way to beat Watson is to blitz him like crazy- and he panics. I've noticed Monken is calling for quick outs so Deshawn can beat the blitz, and my uneducated POV is he's not quick enough in his reads & reaction time to see those guys who ARE open. That and assorted passes that are 10 feet over the receiver's heads- or in the dirt. Jerry Judy's first couple receptions saved a couple of really lousy throws. Oh well, we're going to have to live and die with this bum until the Browns start losing games.

Your post is a dark font that is tough to read. -

Multiple reasons.
Limiting turnovers
Defense getting + possessions
Favorable schedule
Do you think that Sanders coming in, and the offense being able to run more under center, would possibly open up the offense more and make it more diverse, or do you think there's probably a very good reason that Watson is the starter for the foreseeable future? -

I'm sure there are trade-offs. Sanders spent as much, if not more time, in gun than Watson did. There's no guarantee the young arm comes in and the under center game works. But I've seen/heard a lot of fan complaints that Watson is the cause of us not being UC.
That isn't so much the case. It's a component to it, but this team struggles to function UC for a few glarring reasons. Beyond the QB, the most obvious have been how we fail to process and pickup gap exchanges post snap; the B gap puncture pressures & stunts from the of ball LB's is a great example.
We've rarely exectued wide zone to it's full effect because our backside cut has been so often taken away because of piss-poor play from Tytus Howard.
You know Kyle Shanahan is my favorite Coach in the NFL. It's something I've been getting at for the last 10 years or so as he has lead the way - getting back UC helps improve the dynamic functions of the running game while naturally elevating the effectiveness of the play action game.
The NFL has responded with it's largest year over year jump in UC usage in a long time.
Our next QB MUST function UC.
