No, the Oline had its failures

This is highly dependent on the type of pass rusher he is facing.

sure, but also highly dependent on the qb being STUPID, too. He's a rookie. He's going to make mistakes here and there.
The oline also was affected by the STUPID QB. It's hardly the oliine's fault that twatson got sacked all
eight times. The defense knew to stop the run to put more pressure on the stupid qb.
    ****************
    AI Overview

Deshaun Watson was sacked eight times in the Cleveland Browns' Week 8 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a combination of heavy defensive pressure, holding onto the football too long, and a struggling run game. [1, 2, 3]
Key factors from the 27-6 loss include:

    • Holding the Ball Too Long: Watson frequently waited for deep or secondary reads instead of getting the ball out quickly or throwing it to checkdowns under duress. He admitted postgame that he needed to "find my checkdowns" and "not try to be a hero".
    • Steelers' Defensive Pressure: The Steelers—led by dominant performances from defenders like T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward—consistently collapsed the pocket without needing to heavy-blitz on every play, shifting away from soft coverages to force quick errors.

    • Ineffective Run Game & Long Third Downs: Cleveland managed only 34 rushing yards (netting a dismal ground attack compared to previous weeks), which forced Watson into difficult third-and-long passing situations that allowed Pittsburgh's pass rush to tee off.
    • Offensive Line & Scheme Struggles: The Browns suffered from poor right-side tackle play and extended play designs (including deep dropbacks) that failed to account for Pittsburgh's aggressive front line. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]

TF are you babbling about here? There are pass rush profiles that Fano handles well, others he struggles with. This was my concern with his wingspan and anchor ability coming into the NFL. That has nothing to do with Watson.

He's a rookie. He's going to make mistakes here and there.

Agreed, but irrelavent to the point I've made.

It's hardly the oliine's fault that twatson got sacked all

    Not even remotely accurate.

edit: Before you get all copy and paste happy with AI - Watson did NOT play well. It's that simple. The OL got their asses whipped too. Both things can be and are true.

The only people who can't understand that have an IQ that's the same as the room temp they're in.

We got beat by 21 points by a team who's QB rating was 57.4 while our QB's rating was 94.4. And our QB is the one being bashed. Not the D. Not the OL. Not the RB's. Nope. We bash the QB, because we're prejudice against him.

@Orion we need a new starting QB next season, but if we start him behind this OL he is going on IR or his local graveyard. And if we want to win, we need to improve the other areas you mentioned too.

I think Berry and Co know this. Watson is our sacrificial QB this season. Don't feel bad for him, but it makes no sense to bash him either. He is literally one of the better players on the team this season, and responsible for the comeback wins we've had.

    @Orion It’s fucking cal.

He’s a 75 year old toddler with paper thin skin. Every single game the Browns lose he will come on here and post word salad nonsense with OUR QB IS STUPID and I wish we had fill-in-the-blank white QB instead. Then he’ll mention how poor Baker was treated by people on this board FIVE years ago, and he’ll burst into tears over other grievances he has because he has ovaries.

Berry worked out a couple of LB's a week or so ago. He knows we're thin there. And I think he guessed that teams might start to try and run on us with us running so much man to man D. Which is what we kinda' have to do because we sucked at zone D at the start of the season. And although we brought in multiple TE's via the draft and FA, we're playing with only Fannin & Whitehurst. And they're not the greatest at helping the OL block for the run. And although our OL is all new, it's not improved much over last year's pathetic OL..although Fano & Zion aren't doing bad on the left side.

We're going to have to figure out how to stop the run because the Titans & Steelers have shown what to do against us. Our back 7 began biting on anything that looked remotely like a run, allowing the Steelers TE's to wind up with 129 yards. I mean, that's what being able to run can do for your pass offense.

Speaking of stopping the run, I wonder how healthy Mason Graham is. He’s been pretty invisible since coming back

your belligerent arrogance is garbage. I posted about twatson's history everywhere of
being slow to read, holding onto the ball too long. A lot of folks are saying it, folks who know football and aren't too arrogant to
really understand what they are seeing. People who are more mature, and smarter.

Browns' Loss to Steelers Confirms One Undeniable Truth ...

"However, one thing really stood out above all else as the Browns now attempt to gather themselves for a third road trip in as many weeks: Deshaun Watson cannot be the team's quarterback in 2027 and beyond.
Listen, everyone can reasonably accept that Cleveland's latest rebuild endeavour might take more than one year after the club replaced head coach Kevin Stefanski with Todd Monken, even if the Browns have hit multiple home runs on two straight draft classes.
But one thing has become evident after Week 8's disappointing outing, one that included eight sacks on Watson: the Browns will need another quarterback to complete this comeback.
Now, the offensive line was going to be a work in progress throughout the year. Watson wasn't. At least that's what the team has been telling us repeatedly since he was inserted into a two-way competition for the starting job, and then again when he was designated winner of said competition over Shedeur Sanders.
Watson's experience would help mitigate some of the issues that naturally arise on a budding young team. And an offensive line with five new starters, including two rookies playing out of their most recent college spots was going to need all the help it could get.
It's getting zilch out of Watson.
Because Watson plays the position in a similar way as he does his pressers, he lacks general awareness of what's going on around him. That commonly leads to dropbacks out of the shotgun where Watson ends up with 11 to 13 yards of depth, which in turn leads to the tackles getting beat constantly."

Roberto Shenanigans on X: "Watch Tytus Howard throw up his arms several times out of frustration. Watson takes a 7-step drop out of the shotgun. At the top of his drop he is 13 yards from the line of scrimmage. It's impossible to block the edges when a QB does this."

"Out of Watson's eight sacks on Sunday, at least five of them came on plays where Watson's deep dropback contributed to the outcome. On at least three of those sacks, he had more than 2.5 seconds to get rid of the ball, and he didn't.
Another consequence of Watson's deep dropbacks is that tackles are then forced to hold defenders in order to avoid a hit on the passer. That happened at least a couple of times against Pittsburgh on Sunday.
And to make things worse, Watson's tendency to drop back so deep is so easily detectable, that you could see the Steelers' edge rushers pinning their ears back and targeting that range around 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage because they knew that's where they would find the quarterback.
Watson didn't actually trim his dropback and speed up his delivery until about six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Even so, he was still sacked a couple more times, with Watson feeling outside pressure and then stepping into the sack on the inside.
But Watson's issues go further than just making life miserable for his tackles. He also had two grossly overthrown passes, two one-hoppers, and two passes batted down at the line of scrimmage as part of a performance that did, however, manage to cover up some of the blunders with plenty of garbage-time yards."

of course, Tiam, you blame the offensive line to protect your hero twatson. But you "know football" so you think the offensive line forced twatson to take a seven step drop out of the shotgun. wow.
