Kosar says Anderson was "fantastic"
-
I thought DA looked fantastic...if the kid is given time and taught a few things he wasnt taught by rac he could seriously be a great qb...patience and tuff-love coaching are the keys to DA being an awesome qb instead of the streaky guy you cant trust that he is now..

Kosar was on the Michael Reghi show this afternoon in drive. This is the second time I've heard him after a game. He was very critical after the Denver loss.
He said that he thought DA had a good game when he watched it real time. He then went back and watched the tape and said he upgraded his opinion to "great game".
He said the interception was exactly the right read and a good throw and that Heiden "would like to have that one back."
He gushed about some of the throws that DA made saying "now those were NFL throws"
Reghi asked him whether DA's passes stretched the field to the point that Cincy had to respect it, opening up the running game. Kosar said "yes, without a doubt. Vertically AND Horizontally."
When Reghi asked him if he thinks Quinn is done in Cleveland and will ask for a trade, Kosar said Quinn's not done and that you don't want a guy who wants to be a back up. He followed up with a comment that if Derek continues to play the way he did Sunday it will would be tough for Quinn or anyone else for that matter to get Anderson off the field with his abilities.
I was a little surprised by how much praise Kosar had for Anderson's performance. I thought he played well, but apparently not as well as Kosar thought he played. Kosar definitely saw something different on the pick than Gannon.
Kosar was also complimentary of Daboll's game.

We need some optimism in every form possible. We cant expect Kosar to come and say " hey we lost so we suck ! " He saw improvements thanks to adjustments made and is putting a positive spin on the negative end result. If we had lost the game with no score or just a field goal then how many of us will be optimistic about the Buffalo game ? After this result i know im excited about our chances for the next game. Massaqoui has come of age, Harrison is slotting in nicely and our offensive line is hanging on ... hey our next win could come sooner than we think ...

Yeah, I too will defer to Bernie over Rich Gannon on the breakdown of a play or Defense.
Especially when he spends 4 games every August basically predicting the upcoming play like he was in the GD huddle. Complete with reads on the coverages and how some D's will mask specific coverages.
Sorry Rich, you lose.

Bernie needs to put the BPR down for a bit and come back to the world of sobriety if he thinks DA was "great". Under 50% comp is "great". Wow our expectations are really low.
amazing how many times the word "incomplete" and "short" are used.... is DA a dink and dunker, too??? Heaven forbid... What happened to the mad bomber or "gunslinger" DA lovers say he is.... I see a lot of "short" passes....that went incomplete.

Those short passes helped open up that route, imo. True, Braylon brought off some of the coverage as well, but we'll see how we look next week.

That isn't the point, the point is Anderson missed alot. Anderson has no future here. He will be benched for Ratliff in a couple of weeks and that will be that. The delusion of the Andersonites is amazing.

Lol @ Kosar.
Kosar loves DA and always has. He's a biased idiot when it comes to the QB spot. He's always hated Quinn... Ever since he was drafted.
It'd just be nice for somebody in Cleveland to have an unbiased opinion.
I feel like we only have DA fans or BQ fans, and we don't have Browns fans.

DA's short passes are more effective because that is not all he throws. Of course he is going to throw short passes but they are really difficult to be effective when there are 8 or 9 in the box. That is the difference.
Again I do not thing DA is the future, but my hope is that he plays well enough to allow the team to concentrate on other areas in the draft and then go for a qb in a few years. I don't think it will help the team to draft a QB high this year. Need allot more Line help on both sides and LBs more than they need a QB. Or at least I hope that is the case.

I like them both but im a browns fan first mangini says DA for now and i agree but i watched bq for over 3 yrs at ND and am a big fan what i saw bq doing in the first 3 games is not bq and he didnt impress me at all..but nevertheless you have to make what the OC gives you work and bq failed...i want to see the kid get a real and fair evaluation should DA become unstable and turn into mr.anderception again however if DA develops well under the new regime i am very content to have him as our starter ive always thought he could correct his problems under the right regime that is firm and insistant about it and if he can fix 3 things he could be one of the better qbs in the league in 2 years...

I want to see him go against a junk defense like the Bengals.
I want to see him get Jerome Harrison to run the ball instead of twinkle toes.
I want to see him get to throw the ball to Mo Mass, instead of Furrey and Royal.

Dude come on now man, the KC Chiefs ripped the Ravens through the air, so don't tell me the Ravens couldn't be had, because I saw with my own eyes when they played the Chiefs. And for the record, Quinn and DA both played with Royal, Harrison and MoMass. I mean are you guys kidding me with this BS still? MoMass was poorly overthrown by Quinn vs Denver, and Harrison was his starting RB vs Bal. Just stop.

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe Kosar IS the unbiased one. Speaking highly of DA and being skeptical of BQ hasn't been popular in Cleveland lately.
-
Speaking highly of DA
Cry me a river. The guy has done everything possible to make it near impossible to speak highly of him.
If he plays well, he'll get support. Pretty simple formula. If he doesn't, get ready for more calls for the backup. It is what it is.

Sorry, but Bernie's lack of respect when discussing Quinn is well known. He has put down Quinn so many times, it is amazing.
He also never tells of DA's miscues.
Both those clowns need to go and Anderson's influence on Bernie, is just another tail of that reality.

how does ripping Quinn show a bias?
what else could he have said about him?

These are DA's stats for his last 19 STARTS. The Starts that most people have said he has been terrible on
29 48 364 60.4 0 1 0.0 75.3
16 35 123 45.7 3 0 0.0 83.4

14 27 246 51.9 1 0 1.0 95.6
17 33 219 51.5 2 1 1.0 80.2
16 26 110 61.5 0 0 3.0 71.0
26 48 269 54.2 1 1 2.0 68.8
9 Wins 10 Losses for a team that when DA does not start is 1 win and 9 losses during the same time period (I am only counting the second half and beyond of 2007 otherwise it is DA 13 Wins and 12 Losses and rest of time from 2007 to now is 1 Win and 10 Losses when DA does not start)
342 completions 605 Atts 56.53% 3876 yards 22 TDs and 19 INTS and 2 Rushing TDs. Sacked 22 times (1.16 times a game)
These are not HoF numbers but they are really not that bad for a young QB during the period of time that most people on the board are saying DA is playing Horrible. Inconsitant for sure. And there are several horrible games in the mix.
1 rating of 121
2 ratings of 95 or better
3 ratings of 80 or better
7 ratings in the 70's
1 rating of 68.8 (last week)
5 ratings of below 60
That would be on average 6 above average games, 7 or 8 good enough to win games (most people would say last week was at least average) and 5 totally unacceptable games. Again not HoF material, but not as bad as some make it seem for a 26 year old QB. Basically during the period of time when DA is playing horrible he has performed at least average or acceptable football 74% of the time. In addition over the last 30 Browns games DA has produced 90% of the wins and only 50% of the losses, all the time while playing "horrible".
I am not in any way saying that DA is the answer, but on this team right now he is not a bad option to be a stop gap.
BQ's 6 starts
23 35 239 65.7 2 0 0.0 104.3
14 36 185 38.9 0 0 1.0 55.9
8 18 94 44.4 0 2 0.0 21.3
21 35 205 60.0 1 1 5.0 74.1
18 31 161 58.1 0 1 4.0 58.7
6 8 34 75.0 0 1 1.0 42.7
1 Win 5 Losses
90 Comp 163 Atts 55% 918 Yards 3 TDs and 5 Ints 0 Rushing TDs Sacked 11 times (1.83 times a game)
I probably should not have put BQ's stats in there as they are really not revelant to what I am saying. But, When I post one I like to post the other.
I feel I am addressing what you are saying as I am only posting stats from DA's horrible play over the last 19 games. And during that same period of time DA lead the Browns to 4 come from behind victories or you could say 4 times more victories than the Browns have had without DA starting. And during that 19 games the Browns have scored 380 points for an average of 20 a game. In the games he did not start the Browns scored 111 points for an average of 11.1 a game. And this is only over the 30 games the Browns have played, not the first half of 2007, only during the 'horrible" DA span.
And yes I am talking about games started.

These are DA's stats for his last 19 STARTS. The Starts that most people have said he has been terrible on

All I can say about the above is, its not good enough, he's not consistent enough.
