8 more catches

If catches has anything to do with it, it would be reg season catches since that is what stats are based on.
If catches is indeed a criteria, we have already lost out.

Edwards is sitting at 47 after todays game

Even though the Jets desperately needed the Indy Colts to take a knee to better 8-8, I find myself rooting for them as massive under-dogs. I think what we're seeing is the Jets are getting used to playing for their lives while their opponents LOST that type of urgency about 4 or 5 weeks ago.
It looks to me like Mangini put together a pretty good line there with Mangold, Faneca, Ferguson so I see why they're #1 at running the ball. Not only that but did you see those Mangini hand selected corners intercepting Philip Rivers? How about that LBer David Harris he picked? Those people that don't think it's smart to draft oline first might want to re-think that some.
The ONLY difference I see in these Jets vrs last year's Jets - is the 08 Jets didn't get anyone taking a knee for them to earn 9 wins. People can insult that all they want; but if Brett Favre's arm stays healthy in 08 the Titans can tell you first hand the only team that cleaned their clocks was Mangini's Jets.
In watching the game yesterday, they won that football game the way we finished the season winning games. Rex's D didn't look much different than Rob's D the final 4 weeks. Offensively, they predicated their success on the running game as Greene's 50 yard TD sprint would remind us while their Qb tried to keep his completion percentage as close to 50% as he could. I think their punter even pinned San Diego inside their 5 yard line?
In the end, a 9-7 record = a 9-7 record. Sometimes that's good enough for Superbowl Sunday and sometimes it doesn't get you playoffs. Here's what it did get - the Cleveland Browns a new Head Coach that finished with 10 wins in 2006 and 9 wins in 2008. What did that mean for 2009? We closed out the season with 4 consecutive wins and more players than ever EXCITED about staying put in Cleveland. That's called progress.

Braylon has had 2 catches a game for the past 4 weeks.. the last time he had more was in week 15 vs Atlanta - also the last time he caught a TD. He dropped a TD in the wild-card game.. there's really no chance of him grabbing anything near 8 against the Colts.

Screw him.
I want the Jets to run to victory and Bray-long pad his dropped ball stats.

Well,
The football GODS have been smiling on this guy......and it just kills me that this guys has been a do sh*t receiver for the last 3 years and now is on the verge of getting to the Big One......He contributed nothing to the Browns over the last 2 years and has been a big nothing to the JETS as well.......I think his luck runs out this week, but it'll really suck to see him in the Superbowl...pretending like he was the guy they needed to get them their..........I have faith however...that he will not disappoint....that one big drop for an easy TD is just waiting to happen...
OK I' vented...

Link? I never knew the catches were disclosed until after the season.
they were announced months ago about a week after the trade was finalized dont have a link for it anymore (new computer) but it is indeed 55 catches
found one that hints at it

2. For all his talk about wanting to be a big-time receiver, Edwards struggles in the spotlight. With 12 catches in the past five games, he is offering excuses for his lack of production. It's also why there was not much of a market for Edwards, dating back to last summer when the Browns let the NFL know he was available. The downside of Edwards' decline with the Jets is the Browns seemingly have no shot at that third-round pick in the deal becoming a second-rounder. Edwards needs 38 catches in his last six games to give him 55 since the trade.
but it was confirmed by Mortenson on SC a while back that it was for the season not since the trade

Then I'm not sure he can get it anyways. Usually incentives like that are for the regular season, not playoffs.
Additionally, 55 is a reasonable number to get, and he wasn't expected to have a shot in hell of getting it.

Here's something you didn't expect to hear in the Jets' victorious locker room last night -- praise for Eric Mangini.
"I've got to go on record and thank Eric Mangini for giving me the chance to be a part of Coach Rex," said Jets receiver Braylon Edwards, who was traded in October from Mangini's Browns. "I've never in my life been a part of anything like this. I'm ecstatic. Words can't really describe how I feel. I feel as though we have the ability to go all the way."

one thing fans don't realize is Braylon helps open the run game for the jets. it's not all about catches especially with a rookie QB
