QUINN OUT FOR SEASON!!!

The Browns Board

  • Another off season of talking about the QB. Third in a row.

    Ahh geez.

  • As I posted in another thread .....how the FUCK do you start Quinn last week when you knew it wasn't just a break but rather there was tendon damage as well. Heads need to roll now. Sit DA on the bench before he lowers his trade value anymore than he already has. We'll be picking high in the draft people ....definitely top 10, maybe top 5. Only in Cleveland.

  • You think it would raise DAs value if you started Dorsey in front of him? Talk about being dillusional.

  • If I was the browns I would start Dorsey. You play DA and we won't win a game. At least on the bench he isn't hurting his trade value. Know after the season we will just have to cut him GREAT!

  • I'm really wondering now if it is a mallet finger.

  • You think it would raise DAs value if you started Dorsey in front of him? Talk about being dillusional.

Starting DA will only lower his trade value. Just in case you haven't managed to watch any Browns games for the past 1.5 seasons ....DA sucks, and the more he plays the lower the draft pick becomes that we get for him. He plays out the rest of the season we'll be lucky to get a 5th or 6th out of him, and more than likely he'll simply get cut.

  • How would it not hurt his trade value? To start Dorsey would be stupid, if you would start him I would say that is one reason you are a fan and not working in an organization (not that I am either of course so I could be stupid on this as well). If you start Dorsey you are saying he is better than DA, that would mean that DA would and should be cut.

I understand you are down on DA but he has played a few good games this year and does have skills. If the last 3 games should have taught you anything is that it is not all the QB on this team. The QB is not the root of all the problems, if he is then you should trade BQ asap also. And I do not think that you should.

Saying stuff like that is just being bitter and unrealasitic. The only thing that you probably really fear is that DA plays well enough to stick around another year. That is not a general comment it is rather specific, I know most fans want the QB that gives them the best shot to win.

At least if Dorsey took the helm we could run a legitimate offense, no close your eyes, heave the ball, and hope play-makers comes down with it bullshit. Maybe Quinn could learn something from watching Dorsey, while watching DA will only continue to stunt his growth.

  • Oh, good golly, this is ridiculous.

We are truly the most snake-bit franchise.

Well, no, we're not the Bungles. Or the Lions. But we're perilously close.

    So..uh...wow. This sucks. I'm speechless.

Well this reply is at least a little more mature rather than stating I am "delusional". The fact is, other NFL team personnel would know that we are sitting DA because he's on his way out and we don't want him to hurt his trade value. Sure, he may improve his trade value if he plays ....but judging by common sense and what we have seen from him, that won't happen. DA playing even moderately well will only begin the QB deadbate all over again. He's had 24 starts to prove himself, and all that he has proven is he belongs on the bench. At least now we could at least get bench worthy compensation for him. He plays the rest of the season and he may play himself out of the league. I know Dorsey starting won't happen ...but just like I knew last year he was a flash in the pan, a pretender, a fake ...this year he plays himself out of the NFL.

  • Mike Florio cites Glazer's report, then writes:

And since Anderson won’t be feeling the pressure of having Quinn breathing down his neck or the weight of high expectations, Anderson will probably play well down the stretch. The question then will be whether G.M. Phil Savage (if he doesn’t get fired) realizes that Anderson won’t be likely to repeat that performance if he receives a $5 million bonus in March and returns in 2009 as the opening-day starter.

Alternatively, one could hope that DA plays well and ups his trade value, resulting in us getting a higher pick if/when we trade him this offseason.

  • What's that I hear from the Savage home tonight?

    Wait, wait, listen...

"I told you we needed 2 quarterbacks!"

  • DA has played a year and half with these players and with this system. He has had about 11 good to great games and 13 bad to horrible games. Not a great percentage I would admit but alot better than most of the recent browns QB's.

Playing him behind the 3rd string QB would in no way increase his trade value or even maintain it. It would only lower it. By playing he gives the Browns the best possible chance of winning (13 wins and 11 losses in that span) and increaseing his trade value.

Have you not watched the last 2 games or do you think BQ sucks too? There are alot more problems to this offense than who the QB is. The BQ era has shown that there is alot of issues with this team not related to the QB.

You might not know that I also called for DA to be benched before the Cincy game as I thought that was a good time to make a change. So I am not one of the people that think DA should start over BQ. But, I also do not think he sucks and I do think with BQ out he gives the Browns the best shot of winning.

I think your only real fear is that he plays well enough to not get traded. Yes the Browns would have gotten more by trading him in the offseason. But at this point, with BQ out he is the Best QB on the team.

I made a few harsh comments that I have deleted as you did not deserve them. So if you read this before I fixed them I am sorry for being personal and harsh.

I disagree with you that it would not hurt his trade value. If you have so little confidence in him to start Dorsey then that would say alot about your opinion of DA. And it would in fact lower his value as they might think they could just get him off waivers or really cheap if they were willing to pay the bonus.

With BQ out I don't think that there is a downside in starting DA. With BQ healthy I thought that the rest of the season should be used to season BQ. That is no longer the case.

  • Congratulations, Lumberg.

🙄 I absolutely do fear he will be on this team next year. IF he is, that means we have the dumbest leaders of a franchise in NFL history to pay him his bloated star caliber contract that Phil signed him to. I really don't see this happening, as he will undoubtedly play himself out of the NFL or at least to career third string status. I would like to get something out of DA is all I am saying. It's already gone from a 1st and 3rd rounder to a 4th or 5th rounder .....do we really need to completely destroy his trade value? 😳

  • We all know what we have in DA. Why not see if Dorsey can be a really good #2 QB on this team. There is no way DA plays so good we have to keep him. Get real. All the browns I have talked to said it was a waste to bring him back this year. Like you said there are a lot more problems than the QB, so that's why I disagreed with DA coming back. Get the draft picks for him because everybody knew that BQ couldn't do worse than DA. Bad move by PS and that's why he will probably be fired.

  • Hopefully DA plays well... but more likely he'll go one game hot, two games cold, one game hot, two games cold.

Personally, I'm not entirely sure we saw enough of Quinn to be 100% sure he's the future of the franchise, especially the way he went out...

  • I amended my post to take out the personal jab. Sorry about that.

Well I will agree to disagree on this subject.

But, I do agree that he has lowered his trade vale. My hope is that he increases it in the next 5 games. He might not but I do think if you trade him it is the best chance to up his trade value to a 2nd or 3rd round pick as opposed to a 5th or 6th.

Dorsey is not a number 2 and will not be next year. When they trade DA they will just sign a veteran back up. Dorsey is more of a coach than a QB on the team. He is the number 3 emergency QB.

Fair enough, and I amended mine as well. 😉 But knowing the sheep in this community, I just really really hope IF DA does up his value and strings a couple of good games together, that we don't keep him and that bloated contract. I am all for getting more out of DA.

  • The schedule is brutal. There is only one game for sure and that's cincinnati but wait DA stinks againist them. We are going to finish 4-12 GREAT!
