QUINN OUT FOR SEASON!!!
-
Who cares what Dorsey can do? He is the number 3 Qb and will be when DA gets traded in the off season. The Browns will pick up a veteran QB to back up BQ.
I agree that I hope it is not a career ending injury and have not heard that anywhere. Lum is probably just trying to make everybody freak out, I would ignore him unless he gives me a link to that story.
DA is and should be the starter with BQ out.
Big Red just looked at the schedule. That is a tough schedule, BQ might be lucky he does not have to face it.
Wins Philly and Cincy. I do not think DA will play horrible against these two teams. And I am going to go out on a limb and say that the Browns will beat the Steelers to end the season. Pittsburgh will be resting starters and it will make the Browns season to beat them.
That is my prediction 3 and 2 to end the season. 7 - 9 record. Not what is wanted but with the troubles the team has had and the difficult schedule I think that is what it will end up.
You might think I am crazy but that is my prediction.

Maybe cincinnati but that's it. No way there going 7-9 and I never said BQ would do better in those games. They will be lucky to pull one win the way DA has looked the last 2 games againist cincinnati.

Just commenting.
Something strange about all of this. We go from a non injury to a season ending injury.
This now means we have to keep DA through next season. No way can we entertain getting rid of him and throwing everything in Quinn court on 2 marginal starts...not to mention a injury that who knows how thats going to turn out...maybe the guy is going to be one of those injury prone qbs.
I am not saying that to knock him.....but you know they type....there is always something wrong with them.
-
People asking for Dorsey obviously have never seen him play. He is not a good QB. He needs to be a coach of QB's, not a QB.
DA is not good enough to play himself into trade value. Also, yes we're getting rid of DA. This team cannot shell out the $$$ for both of them, and I am pretty sure Quinn will give the Browns the big fook off if they try to sit him. DA will do the same.
Any fan of DA who thinks he can win - well, when is that going to happen? When the fook is this guy going to sack up and win? And I am not talking about Miami, Seattle and Cincy last year, either.

I think DA will help answer this with his performance. Either he will play well, or he won't. If he doesn't I can't blame him fully. I have seen the guy play great as well as terrible. Is Dorsey someone he can learn from or not? I personally have never seen Dorsey do anything great. I have never blamed everything on DA. That aside, I have seen bad things from him and continue to see them. I have also seen great things. I think this is a coaching problem. I believe that if we let DA go, we'll have to watch him come back to Cleveland and kick ass and take names. That's if he gets a good coach and team.
he has one here...i hope the kid stays. i've said it before he'd make a hell of a #2 if he could endure it.and again, just to reiterate my stance, the 5M bonus and 4.9+M cap hit is a wash, so if no one offers anything attractive for DA he's a pretty good buy for 1.45 mil.
with 24 or so starts (plus preseasons) a pro bowl, 2 yrs in the system......that is, if Chud is still around. you're gonna pay that + for a vet. everything changes if the regime goes, though.
and you fortune tellers predicting what a coach might give for DA 11 games into the season, got any good stock tips? i could use a good one. let's hope someone's really desperate and it's a SUPER GOOD christmas. i want a QB who leaves no doubt, and it's none of these guys.
none of em.

The TROUBLE with DA is that in TRAINING Camp they put a red jersey on him (meaning don't touch). When that happens, he's a different QB with GREAT mechanics and poise. When we face opponents - the red jersey comes off, the pass rush comes in, the poise is gone and the mechanics are completely different.
Sisky, the biggest problem with the #2 thing is that comes from a sports fan instead of DA's agent. An agent, acting in the best interest of HIMSELF, will research the MOST chaotic team in transition for starting pay and ultimately that signing bonus he wants to whore off of. He won't let his QB aim for backup duty because of what it'l cost financially. He'll go get starting pay for one of the worst couple teams and get booed to the sidelines like he's done here. Expecting him to do anything else means we're asking him to be something he's not. We're not playing a schedule full of opponents averaging 4 wins so last year was an exception to the rule. We're playing the schedule that had DA 0-3 in his first 3 starts and 3-5 with this season.
The PROBLEM with all this waiting to insert Quinn as late as we did - is it NEVER gave DA a chance to sit and see the things he wasn't doing right. When a STARTING pitcher loses command of his pitches - the coaching staff does him NO favors keepign him out there so his teammates SOUR on him and BLAME him for the scoreboard. If anything, they resent him. I think we saw this and it spilled over to us fans.
What our Oregon State DA fans don't realize is NONE of us DRAFTED Quinn BUT since Savge did so in round 1 - it just NEVER made sense to draft what we hoped was Dan Marino ONLY to start what looked like Scot Mitchell for as long as we did. DA was 0-3 as a starter so when December rolled around and ALL the DCs were shutting him down - even Cincy for 4 INTs, we should have used the RELIEF pitcher/SPARK excuse for playing him. Right there - our brass SCREWED UP huge. Quinn should have also played the rest of the SF game DA got dinged up in since the only thing attering to our playoff hopes was Tenn needing to lose. Our game didn't matter either way.
This offense practiced GIVING UP every time they saw the human surrender flag with a #3 on his chest. They got real good at giving up to the point of no return. How many consecutive weeks did it get reinforced? I STOPPED blaming Dumb Ass because he's not making the decision to start himself. RAC's Head Coaching Tombstone is gonna read "I started Dumb Ass and all I got was a lousy piece of pink paper!"
- Tom F. (I'll just take Pepto Bismal before each game the rest of the way - it's not like I haven't had plenty of practice)
-
Awesome.
Over/Under on when we see the "Brady Quinn contracts staph" report set at 3 days.

Put Cribbs & Harrison in the backfield and run the mother-effing WildDawg for the rest of the season.
Draft an LB (or 2), DT/DE, and Pat White to replace Braylon Edwards as our #1. Punch Stallworth in his head.

Aside from the "could this get any worse"... where does this put our team? Do we continue to have a QB controversy for another off-season? Where is the future of our team? Will DA continue to be a Brown next year? Is BQ our QB in 09? Sorry, more questions than answers...was eagerly anticipating BQ establishing the fundamentals to be the QB we need for the future, because DA is nothing but limitations that we've seen far too often.
Also, does the resurgence of DA give Romeo carte blanche for another dismal season in 09?
Starting to feel really hopeless...

There will be a new head coach. That new coach will name BQ as the starter. The Browns will rework DA's contract so that he is well paid (but not at the level that is currently stipulated). They will draft or sign a developmental QB.

One thing this does is put a little more perspective on the last two games from Quinn.
He broke the finger in the 1st Q of his 2nd game. So the only time that he was throwing the ball healthy...and with a finger that could put the proper spin on the ball..was the first game. The last 2 games have to be taken with a grain of salt knowing now how bad an injury it was to that finger.
So much for the comments that he was no more accurate than DA. He was in the only game he was healthy...and will be again.
Now, as for what this means to the Browns.
We have the following games:
Indianapolis (12th): 80.5 QBR against, 16 sacks and 10 INT's
Tennessee (2nd): 64.5 QBR against, 30 sacks, 16 INT's
Philadelphia (11th): 79.3 QBR against, 39 sacks, 9 INT's
Cincinnati (18th): 86.0 QBR against, 11 sacks, 8 int's
Pittsburgh (4th): 71.1 QBR against, 37 sacks, 11 int's
The only 'easy' game for DA will be Cincinnati...so if he manages to get about an 80 QBR for the remainder of the season he will definitely improve his trade value.
And I really think there is NO WAY we are keeping him. We have too many holes in the team and need the extra draft choices.
-
For better or for worse, now it's DA's time to shine.
For the past two seasons, Anderson has started knowing a large segment of the fan base wants to see him benched. Now that pressure is removed. It's DA or nothing.
He still has plenty of weapons at his disposal including Winslow, Stallworth, Edwards, Lewis, Harrison, etc. We can still put up 30 points in a game. The question will be has he learned anything from his benching?

Yeah after cruising through the easy part of the schedule with a sparkling 1-2 record and a 60's QB rating I'm sure they're ready to remove all contingency plans and hand the keys exclusively over to Quinn.
...maybe if they hire Charlie Weis for head coach.

What's that I hear from the Savage home tonight?
Wait, wait, listen...
"I told you we needed 2 quarterbacks!"

Winner.
Guys, DA isn't getting traded this offseason.
And, guess what? We're stuck with Romeo for another year. 'The team had all sorts of injuries, even the QB was hurt; it's not RACs fault'.
This is awesome. We're going to get to waste THREE seasons.
Fuckin' sweet.
Honestly, I hope DA does well enough, but I'd really like to see the team just STINK it up in execution to ensure that fatass is gone. I can handle a QB controversy; I can't handle anymore of this 'coaching' staff.

I think the team is lost for the rest of the season. They just cannot put together a full 60 minutes of football. They have times where they are in the game but there are a lot of times when they clearly do not have the passion the other team plays with. Nothing is going to fix this mess except a coaching staff overhaul.

vegas dog we wil have BOTH qbs again next year. BQ's contract is backup money because it is performance based. DA is now back in the drivers seat to fight for the job but the controversy regardless of how bad or good he does will not go away anytime this side of the Browns soap opera.
My best friend was talking BEFORE the last game if RAC should have said NO WAY to BQ playing in order to preserve BQ from any more possible damage...... Too small of a sample that is now polluted from this last game results due to injury to compare his performance with similar players that DA had. Talk about cursed.

Dammit!
I wanted to see the Steeler D kick the shit out of him next month.

Well Pittsburgh will have the Division wrapped up. They will rest PArker, the receivers, and the QB. Probably rest most of thier starting defense. That is why I think the Browns will beat them. The Browns will have everything to play for and the Steelers nothing. That is why I think that the Browns will win and end up 7 and 9 for the season.
Trade DA in the offseason. Sign a veteran back up and draft defense. Sign a few free agents and move on.

It is going to be nice to see the football thrown down field again. Quinn's dink-n-dunk was getting old, and I for one have many concerns about Quinn. That being said, I know that DA isn't the answer either. Yep, just another day as a Browns fan.................
