Well if they put the screws to them long enough, then big bro can come in and offer some government contract placing them under the government control while subidizing their business.

    Just a thought?

And I wouldn't have a problem with that so long as the doctors can pay their loans off. I'm a civil servant, as is, and we get a hell of a deal, they extend perks like that to all doctors, plus pay for college loans, then holy shit, I doubt there'd ever be a shortage. I don't think that'll ever happen, that's just too many perks for too many people, it doesn't seem feasible. As it is now, the only doctors with those perks are in the armed forces, and don't get the great money aspect of it, but when they get out, they cash out.

I would expect what happens in the next decade or so to be somewhere in between. I doubt they'd ever give the military perks to every civvy doctor, but the pay will never be lowered so much that it's a struggle to pay off college loans.

VT, so you want all doctors forced to be employed by the government? That way they will have caps on pay and be told what to do by a bureaucrat.

What about private practice and the will for one to be able to own their own business? should that be ran by the government also?

This is what you are asking for?

FUBAR! Move to China or France if you feel the need that everything should be controled by government.

Don't put words in my mouth. I'm fine with the existing system, but I'd also be okay if the government did subsidize the health industry (which they aren't going to do completely, it's infeasible).

          Nope.

Ah yes, the "if you don't like it, get out!" argument. But no, I don't feel that everything should be controlled by the government. Do you still want me to leave?

I'm still waiting for 50% of doctors to quit, until they do or it starts getting close to that number, I'm going to have a hard time believing it's as bad as people are saying.

I think the main problem Vapor is already with Primary Care Physicians (PCP). Most medical students want to specialize because they know they can make way more $$$$. With the huge influx of patients due to this health care law, there will be a serious shortage of PCP. You may have to wait a long time to be seen unless it is an emergency.

Yeah, I mean, I know I want to be a doctor, but I don't want to be in primary care, regardless of pay. I think if anything is going to be subsidized by Uncle Sam, it's going to be people with those jobs. While I don't think they're ever going to take the option of private practice, the alternative is going to have to be much more attractive to current and future doctors so that this shortage never happens.

Will this screw primary care doctors in the long run? I don't know. People with these jobs are all very educated, and they are universally needed by everyone, rich or poor. I think that so long as demand overshadows supply, Uncle Sam will be footing the bill to even it out.

                  Meanwhile, in the bill passed,

did you know that there is NO APPEAL whatsoever,

when the gov decides on your care, what test(s)? you

                  can have? What surgical procedures?

                  Zilch. No appeals. No explanation.

Did you know, if I heard it right, that medical personnel

will be subject to conscription into gov service as it sees fit?

The latter, I'm not certain I heard it correctly.

But I know this, Constitutional EXPERTS are saying several parts

of this bill cannot stand, they ARE UNConstitutional.

What a mess Obamao is making our country into.

Can you provide a source for both of the points you brought up? Preferably of the bill itself.

Here is an article... I don't see the "conscription" deal, but the gov will set ALL doctor's wages?

Who wants to defend this bill NOW ? Maybe scrap it and start all over again and do it

PROPERLY with the consent of the AMERICAN PEOPLE ?

                        *********************************************************

                        http://www.naturalnews.com/026733_health_h...healthcare.html

What's really in Obama's health care reform bill? Almost no one knows, and here's why: It's 1,017 pages long and written in an alien form of bureaucratic English that can barely be decoded by earthlings.

And yet, astonishingly, a U.S. Army translator has been found who speaks "Washington Doublespeak" and he was kind enough to decode the bill and post his plain-language findings over at FreeRepublic.com (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f...).

Below, we reprint what he found in the health care reform bill. As you read this, keep in mind that some of these translations are a bit loose with the interpretations, but I've personally spot-checked these points, and they are indeed all contained in the bill in one form or another (shrouded in Doublespeak language, of course).

Editor's note: I don't personally agree with every interpretation listed here, and some of the bill's provisions are actually good ideas (like banning doctors from owning stock in health care companies). But overall, this interpretation points out many alarming provisions in the proposed health care reform bill...

Oh, NOW I see the conscription part. Hey, folks, this is serious business.

This is way, way, way, way too far to support, even for those who are totally supporting Obamao Idealogy,

and leftist ideology. There is NO REASON FOR ALL OF THIS IN AMERICA.

                          No more "ha-ha" now, right?

                          Anybody disagree? Why?

I hope you didn't think that everything about the healthcare bill was covered in Shock: Inside the Healthcare Bill. If you did, you were wrong. That just covered the first 500 pages. There's another 500 pages. Peter Fleckstien (aka Fleckman) has also read the second 500 pages.

As I write this, there are some 159 comments at the original Shock: Inside the Healthcare Bill. Some comments are left by people truly in shock by what the Obama Administration is trying to pull off. Others charge that his interpretations of the bill are incorrect and hint that he is purposely being misleading. To those commenters I have this to say:

Peter Fleckstein having read the entire 1,000 plus page document makes note about what is written in the bill and his view of what it means. When he writes, for example,"I smell ACORN" the bill doesn't mention ACORN but community organizations. Fleckstein knows what community organization means and helps the reader out by writing what he believes. The bill, itself, is written in dense legalese. I challenge anyone to read fully even the first 100 pages. Thank the heavens that Fleckstein is there to read the bill and comment on it, without the legalese.

I consider Fleckstein a hero for having read the whole damn thing. Paul Revere may have rode on his butt all night to warn about the British, however, after a good days rest, he was probably back to his normal self. Fleckstein has ploughed through 1,000 pages of this obtuse bill which must have cost him hours and hours and hours on his butt, and drained his eyes, to warn about a Draconian, totalitarian healthcare bill. Paul Revere is a hero for what he did to warn about the British. Peter Fleckstein is a hero to warn about healthcare totalitarianism.

At no point does Fleckstein shirk from standing up behind every word he writes. There is literally a page, chapter and verse reference from the Bill for every comment he makes. On all my posts and Fleckstein's there is always a link to the bill itself so you can checkout any comment Fleckstein makes against the exact point in the bill that he references.

Further, as one commenter put it, many who are looking at Fleckstein's interpretations are missing the big picture. Obama is marketing this bill as a program to help those who don't have health insurance, but if that is the case, what are all the detailed regulations for the rest of us about? If Obama just wants to provide healthcare to those who don't have it, then why doesn't he do just that and control the healthcare standards, billing, tracking and prices he is willing to pay, for those people under his program. What the hell does this have to do with the rest of us? I think Obama's entire healthcare program is a politician's cheap trick, even when he is talking about the poor and the uninsured (See here), but everyone should be able to smell the totalitarian rat when Obama is putting on all kinds of controls on all healthcare.

Here's what Fleckstein found in the second 500 pages:

Thanks for looking this up. I don't have time to check all of these, but I'm looking at 899-901 and I think the wording of the source you got these from is misconstruing the information. This "conscription" appears to be completely voluntary. It looks like a program that is offering to foot the bill for med school in return for a year of service for each year paid for, much like ROTC. That doesn't force anyone to become a certain type of doctor for the rest of their lives, but it does fill the needs that I pointed out in my earlier posts. It's an incentive for filling the most unwanted medical jobs, and it'll get new meat every year, with a rotation rate that is imo, fair. Yes, they pick what type of doctor you are for a few years, but they paid for med school, and now you owe it to the government.

I had no idea this was included in the bill, but Cal, I kid you not, I am now really looking forward to this, as I don't have the cash for med school, and would prefer to not be in debt for all my life.

Well, I hope it helps you. There IS good in this bill.

                                but there is also bad.

The "conscription" part comes in when the gov will decide

                                ALL ? doctors' pay?

But, I hope you don't get gov control for $$$, like GM did. GGG

                                The two parts I bolded,...

"PG 660-671 Doctors in Residency – Govt will tell U where ur residency will b, thus where u'll live.

Pg 676-686 Govt will regulate hospitals in EVERY aspect of residency programs, incl. teaching hospitals."

sounds like you'll be told where to do your residency, where you will be a doctor? and where you will live...

I don't know. The financial help would be great for you future docs, though.

It's just the rest of the things that don't sound right....

And as for the government setting wages, I'm going to need more clarification, I'm still pretty new to this whole realm of healthcare. Non-preferred physicians refers to people that aren't under a PPO, which offers services at a reduced price, does that refer to all private practice doctors, then?

But here's the part where you said it'd set all government wages.

                                  Page 127

                                  10 (😎 PARTICIPATING, NON-PREFERRED

                                  It refers to this

                                  http://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/ssact/title18/1848.htm

© After 1992.—For physicians' services furnished in a year after 1992, the “limiting charge” shall be 115 percent of the recognized payment amount under this part for nonparticipating physicians or for nonparticipating suppliers or other persons.

Does that mean this has been in place since 1992? Perhaps nothing has changed since then? I could be wrong, but due to the wording here, I'm going to assume this has been what it's like since 1992. If you can point out otherwise, let me know.

section iv and v on page 665-667 talks about an increase in the number of resident physicians, and it appears that each hospital has a set limit, for it to get these additional slots, they have to meet criteria listed in this section.

section vi on 668 discusses when these additional slots need to be added by "the secretary"

I don't know, I'm not seeing anything where it says that the government chooses where your residency is. Every hospital needs to have resident physicians, and there are only so many available slots. I don't see anything where Uncle Sam tells you where to apply for a residency, he only says where additional residency slots get added.

Maybe it's on the second section you brought up, but hell, I'm exhausted from trying to translate this shit. But I don't think this section says what your source claimed.

Hey VT, before you start freaking out over that, it should be noted that that entire post is a copy-paste from noted right-wing loony asylum www.freerepublic.com, and is full of patently untrue and conspiracy theory bullshit (as I see you're finding out as you read the actual bill and not some Retard's "translation" of it).

                                      http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/ar...l-needs-check-/

Here's a starter. Plenty of other sites have already debunked most of these claims, you can literally google any of the lines in that email calfox posted and the first 50 results will be information to the contrary. Or you can just trust some crazy freeper.

I have no idea who mz the pussy is, nor do I have any idea what this has to do with anything. The information is either true or it isn't, your ad hominem arguments are dumb.
