I think this is logical now. Although they have more important needs, Weis is the OC there and there is no way they are completely sold on Cassel.
Cassel will be the starter for at least one more year, and then Cassel will be the backup or dumped.
Would I do it? Not sure, but I'm not Charlie Weis.

Didn't the Chiefs just sign Cassel to a Tom Brady-type franchise QB contract last year? Something like $14.5 million the first year? I just don't see any team giving up on a deal like that to take a QB that early in the draft and pay another $25 million guaranteed.

No way. Cassel is a good QB, when he's not getting sacked 30 times a game. I'll bet my sack they take a Okung or Buluga.
