Here are some trivia regarding major league franchises/cities/leagues:

    1. What was the last NFL team to fold operations and when did that happen?

    2. What was the last NBA team to fold operations and when did that happen? (note: does NOT include ABA teams that were folded when that league merged)

    3. What was the last NHL team to cease operations? (note: does NOT include WHL teams that were folded when that league merged)

    4. What is the last Major League Baseball team (AL or NL) to fold operations?

    5. What is the MOST populous state that does NOT have a current major league franchise NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL to play inside its state's borders?

    6. What is the LEAST populous state that DOES have a current major league franchise NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL play inside its state's borders?

    7. Amongst the 123 current major league franchises in the NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB there are 5 team nicknames that are used by more than one franchise. Name those 5 nicknames. (note: use full name, e.g. TB Bucs is actually Buccaneers and not the same as Milwaukee Bucks. Also, only use current names. St. Louis Browns is not current)

    8. What is the smallest US Metro area (defined by Census Bureau as a "primary census statistical area) to have a team in all 4 of the "major leagues" i.e. NFL/MLB/NHL/NBA?

    9. Except for the LA area which has no NFL team, what is the next largest US Metro area to NOT have a team in all 4 of the "major leagues" NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL?

    10. What is the largest US metro area to have NO team in any of the 4 major leagues NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB?

    11. Except for Green Bay what is the smallest Metro region in the US or Canada to have a team in one of the 4 major leagues NFL/NHL/NBA/MLB?

    12. Throughout the world the NFL has the highest per game average attendance of any sports league. What sports league is second in average per game attendance? (this includes only team sports, not things like NASCAR or individual sports)

BrownB499, sorry to tell you this but you got -0- of these correct. (agreeing with another poster's answer doesn't get you points). Just a note to you though: the Cincinnatti Royals of the NBA, the Pilots of MLB, and the Hartford NHL teams did not fold, they just moved. The Royals are now the Sacramento Kings, the Pilots the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Hartford Whalers are the Carolina Hurricane.

Here are some trivia regarding major league franchises/cities/leagues:

I guess it has been long enough, so I will give you the answers here:

                  1. What was the last NFL team to fold operations and when did that happen?

It was the Dallas Texans in 1952.

                  2. What was the last NBA team to fold operations and when did that happen? (note: does NOT include ABA teams that were folded when that league merged)

It was the original Baltimore Bullets franchise that folded in 1955. This is not to be confused with a second Baltimore Bullets franchise which we now know as the Washington Wizards.

                  3. What was the last NHL team to cease operations? (note: does NOT include WHL teams that were folded when that league merged)

This was the Cleveland Barons which ceased operations in 1978 by virtue of a merger with the Minnesota North Stars. In a certain sense you could say it is still partially operating today under the guise of the Dallas Stars where the North Stars moved, but by all accounts the Barons are considered to have "ceased operations". It is too bad because the franchise was not given a chance at all to succeed. It only played one season before the owners, The Gund Brothers, started grumbling about money losses. The team had a bad record its first year, and attendance was mediocre, but in its second year it started playing a little better until a late season collapse. In my mind the Gunds simply didn't want to give that team a chance here. No team can be expected to excel in its first two seasons. Plus that was right at the height of a recession.

                  4. What is the last Major League Baseball team (AL or NL) to fold operations?

Zombo was right. The last teams in baseball to fold did so in 1899. All in the NL which went from a 12 team league in 1899 to an 8 team league in 1900. The teams that folder were the original Washington Senators, the original Baltimore Orioles...not to be confused with the team later to become the Yankees, the Louisville Colonels, and the Cleveland Spiders.

                  5. What is the MOST populous state that does NOT have a current major league franchise NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL to play inside its state's borders?

                  Virginia is correct.

                  6. What is the LEAST populous state that DOES have a current major league franchise NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL play inside its state's borders?

                  Utah is correct (Jazz)

                  A. Cardinals...St. Louis and Arizona B. Rangers...Texas and New York C. Kings....LA and Sacramento D. Giant....NY and SF and E. Panthers....Carolina and Florida

                  8. What is the smallest US Metro area (defined by Census Bureau as a "primary census statistical area) to have a team in all 4 of the "major leagues" i.e. NFL/MLB/NHL/NBA?

It is Denver at #16 on the list. Someone guessed Minneapolis, but that area is one step ahead of Denver at #15 and has about a half million more people than Denver area.

                  9. Except for the LA area which has no NFL team, what is the next largest US Metro area to NOT have a team in all 4 of the "major leagues" NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL?

It is Houston at #9. No NHL team in Houston. For some of those who had some other guesses, as I stated in another thread, SanFran/Oak/San Jose is considered a single "primary census area"

                  10. What is the largest US metro area to have NO team in any of the 4 major leagues NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB?

Las Vegas is correct at #31. Someone guessed Austin, but that is #33.

                  11. Except for Green Bay what is the smallest Metro region in the US or Canada to have a team in one of the 4 major leagues NFL/NHL/NBA/MLB?

Edmonton. Some of you may have overlooked the "or Canada" part of the question. Edmonton is the 59th ranked metro area. Green Bay by the way is 147th.

                  12. Throughout the world the NFL has the highest per game average attendance of any sports league. What sports league is second in average per game attendance? (this includes only team sports, not things like NASCAR or individual sports)

The answer is: The Indian Premier Cricket League. Note the following:

The NFL averages 67,738 attendance at their 256 season games

In Second The Indian premier Cricket league averages 58,000 but holds only 59 contests a year.

Third on the list is the Bundesliga, the German top soccer league which averages 41,914 for 306 games

Fourth is Australian Rules Football with 36,195 in 176 games

Fifth is the English Premier Futbol (soccer) with an average of 35,599 in 380 contests

Sixth is Major League Baseball (US) with an average of 30,201 in 2431 games.

Seventh is the Canadian Football League with an average of 29,206 in 72 games.

Major League baseball by far has the most total attendance for a league for all its game. Second is the Japanese major baseball leagues. That of course is a pure function of the number of games they play comparatively.
