Super Bowl XLVIII could be a cold weather game

Actually ... it does. It's freaking February. There is no homefield advantage involved with a Super Bowl. Hundreds of thousands of people are coming ... why have them freeze their asses off?

I wouldnt complain if it was 30 below, and the Browns were playing for the Lombardi trophy. I think it would at a old mystique to the experience as well. You think about some of the most memorable games ever played, you think Cowboys vs Packers in 67, Bengals vs Chargers 82, Vikings vs Bears, Browns vs Raiders. Nobody knows who played in the warmest game ever but everybody knows who played in the coldest. Its add another element for the fans and players to cling onto and say I was there and experienced that.

I agree.

I think a cold weather super bowl is a bad idea. As Zombo said the super bowl isn't supposed to have a home field advantage. Having the super bowl in a cold weather environment only benefits the teams that play in cold weather regularly. Granted it's not a huge advantage because a professional athlete is still a professional athlete but it's still an advantage. Sure it would be pretty damn cool no pun intended but it's not the right thing to do.

how is cold weather a home field advantage but warm weather isnt?
cold weather teams are usually built to run the football, warm weather teams usually are built to spread to ball around. Either way theres disadvantages to every team no matter where the superbowl is held. Last year it was Colts and Saints they both have explosive passing offenses, they both would benefit in a warm climate game. If it was say the Steelers or Ravens or a run oriented team then they would benefit from a colder climate. So if the Ravens went to New Orleans and played the Saints in a superbowl, the Saints would have an advantage and thats ok but its not ok of a cold weather team to have an advantage? Who has and advantage in this past Superbowl if it was held in NY?

Because they should. Enough of this pussy warm weather stuff- blame the NFL for dragging the season out till FEBU$$$$$$ary. Let's go back to the good old days, and have the Super Bowl alternate between the AFC and NFC Champs, and if it's 20 below in Green Bay, well tough s**t. Now I'll play along- doing that is the same argument the NCAA posits doing a REAL 8-16 team playoff for the college championship. Dem po widdle big buck alumni are gonna be all stressed out getting tickets and making travel arrangements to Da Big Game.
Quaint idea- let's give the game back to the fans- instead of the movie star, corporate sponsor millionaires that don't have to give a rat what the tickets cost. Yup, I thought it would be way cool to catch the SB @ Ford Field- got a good pal that lives 30 miles from the stadium, eliminating the major obstacle- the $500 a night hotel room, 4 day stay minimum. BTW, the Stubhub price of admission to the SB in the nosebleed section is now about $2,000 obviously, I passed on saying I've been to one.

No matter where the Super Bowl is, it will sell out and generate the same revenue. It's the biggest sporting event in the world and no one will miss it just because it's a little cold outside. Now we can't complain if NYC gets it and Cleveland won't. They built an amazing stadium up there that cost 1.5 Billion? and was even more expensive than Cowboys Stadium. So CB Stadium is absolutely no comparison to that and thus would never be considered for the SB, unless they brought back the cool roof proposal from a few years ago. The only drawback I could see of a cold weather game is if the weather was similar to that game against the Toronto Bills a few years back. I think it was like 6-3 or something, which would set up probably the most boring Super Bowl of all time. But the chances of getting a blizzard that bad in feb is very rare.

I could see NY getting the game simply because it is NYC and the NFL is headquartered there. A Cleveland or Buffalo will never get one if they have a open air stadium.
The Superbowl is the NFL's game.
Fans have the Championship games, the NFL has the Super Bowl. Sorry folks, this is where the NFL gets to pay back the sponsors and advertisers who spend millions upon millions in support of the NFL.
Just the way it is...

I don't think it will happen. The Superbowl is mostly commercials and half time show, and a game somewhere in between. I can't picture singers singing and dancers dancing in 30 below weather with gale winds.

Buffalo doesn't even deserve to have a pro team there, let alone a Super Bowl haha believe it or not that city is almost as bad as Pittsburgh

And you're going to school in Arkon. Good school, not a whole bunch of room to talk about other cities though. Pretty much a little sh.it hole.

Pretty much a little sh.it hole.Yes Akron, it didn't used to be anything special but thanks to UA it's growing and becoming a very nice city. I'm sure like all cities it has nice neighborhoods and bad, and most of my time is spent in University Park, Downtown, Fairlawn, and Chapel Hill which are the nicest parts. I also live in western PA so I know how trashy Pittsburgh is and have seen enough of Buffalo to know it's not anything special...Cleveland is way better than all three cities, but Akron is still a nice little city.
