Bits of good news for the browns
-
Coach Eric Mangini is “optimistic, but not that optimistic” that RT Tony Pashos (shoulder) will play Saturday night against the Packers. Pashos’ injury seems to be lingering a bit longer than first anticipated.
good news
RT John St. Clair is OK. Eric Mangini said he merely cramped up after practice, which is why he was carted off. RG Floyd Womack was pedaling on the stationery bike after the session, but his status remains undetermined.
idk if this is good or bad because I've never been a big fan of St Clair...I think the guy flat out stinks
The hamstring injury to CB Eric Wright is not as serious as first feared. Eric Mangini said he’s hoping Wright will participate in the evening session and play in the exhibition opener in Green Bay.
Great news
Eric Mangini said there will be no surgery for LB D’Qwell Jackson (pectoral). “We’re going to let him rehab the next couple weeks and re-evaluate from that point,” Mangini said. Eric Barton will replace Jackson as the starter Saturday.
Disturbing, but still better than it looked originally
Looks like our injuries are not as serious as they looked originally. I can't wait for Saturday to see our boys in action!!
one more thing I saw that I didn't like...
Eric Mangini plans on playing QBs Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace for a quarter each Saturday, then splitting second-half reps between Colt McCoy and Brett Ratliff.
RATLIFF? come on......give them all to colt and let him begin to develop! Ratliff is poop

I am truly more worried about these guys being ready for September 12 than I am August 14th.
-
I totally agree Gipper.. Keep em' out an extra week if necessary... Be ready when the games actually count...
With so many new players on the team, the preseason games will be quite interesting for Browns fans....
Players are actually playing for playing time or a spot on the roster...Unlike other years we have few "locks" in the lineup and these games will give us a pretty good picture of the upcoming season.... I'm excited about this year it could be a great one...
Peace

Don't say poop, say shit!

I expect heckert to have something to say about ratty soon..the guy is an awful QB if we are going to keep 4 QBs to shelter mccoy ratty should not be one of them..he is no more ready for primetime than colt is..
Manboobi gets a fresh start to redefine himself this season but im still extremely skeptical of the man, the coach and the process..im still banking on the facts from the jets and last year that he is not a good coach but an ideological idiot not unlike bruce davis only dumber and that will most certainly be proven this year...mantardi is welcome to prove me wrong and set my thinking straight this season but i doubt that will happen..

I do not share your skepticism when it comes to mangini . And besides that I really like Ryan as part of the package .

Just come comments touching on several of the points made to this point.
St. Claire is a good example showing the importance of drafting linemen early and often. Some think he totally stinks, but the guy has made a nice career out of stinking. There is a big gap between the good offensive linemen and the next level of lineman....and St. Claire isn't at the bottom level...he is a top back-up and would be on most teams.
On Pashos....I agree, no need to rush anything. I would rather sit him 2-3 exhibition games rather risk rushing anything.
Nothing needs to be done with Ratliff at this point. All sorts of throwing takes place in camp, so the arm is welcomed.
McCoy ISN'T playing this year, so it isn't a matter of him needing more reps with anyone other than who he is getting reps with at this point, so Heckert isn't going to say a damn thing. Ratliff may stick through the last cuts....or at least past the first cut down point.
To NEDs point...I agree, it gets old listening to the same people bitching like a old Grandma about Mangini. If you are going to bitch about him, you might as well bitch about Holmgren because he kept the guy, so obviously he doesn't agree.
-
Manboobi, Mantardi---jeesh, I have to wonder about people who think it's necessary to come up with these cutsie names to help bolster their opinion....
Mangini is the coach of the Cleveland Browns.... Mangini has made a living in the NFL.... Mangini is one of 32 head coaches in the best football league in the world....
Somebody must think he's worth it ( the owner, the team president, the general manager ) and are paying him a boat load of money to prove his worth..
It's nice of you to give him a fresh start but I'll bet he doesn't give a rats ass about your opinion............
Peace

i think it's a good idea for jake and seneca to play a quarter each. they're in a new system with new players, so they need a good amount of real game experience.
-
I agree with playing Jake and Seneca a quarter each as well and I also agree with Peen regarding Ratliff...we need the arms...Jake isn't a young guy and Colt isn't playing this year anyways. Get him one quarter of live NFL action and see how he does...that way if he struggles there's no need for him to get beat up for an entire half.

another losing season for a shit team lol the browns what a fitting name

How does the Browns mean losing ? It means a color - unless you are trying to imply that people with brown skin are losers in which case you are nothing but a MOFO racist.

Is that all you got? Why did you bother?
FYI, it IS a fitting name as the name comes from arguably the greatest coach in the history of the league and the greatest player in the history of the league. I just wish Randy Lerner would acknowledge that fact.

I saw a mentally challenge child take a shit in the middle of the parking lot the other day. I'm sure he could even come up with greater insults than this.

STEELERS...what a fitting name for a team that STOLE 4 superbowls by being the Steroid Pioneers of the NFL and STOLE 2 more Superbowls by having the refs in the pockets of their number-runnin', Irish-mob team owner.
