James Davis or Chris Jennings ?

The Browns Board

  • Davis,if the guy could just stay healthy. He's the fastest back on the team.

  • Who do you think will make it in the Browns roster ?

Unless Jerrome Harrison gets traded I dont see how both these RB's are going to be in the squad.

It's possible neither of them make the final roster. That backfield is pretty crowded...

  • James Davis has better intangibles (speed, overall athleticism) so i'd imagine he makes the roster.

I was very impressed with his play at camp and i'm waiting for him to hit a home run, maybe this Thursday?

speed and athleticism are generally "tangibles" which is why he'll make the team. Not even a close comparison with Jennings.

  • Davis plays on all special teams .

  • Its pretty evident Davis is way ahead of Jennings. Jennings trys to make to much happen when he touch's the ball, he needs to understand only picking up 3 yards isn't a bad thing. Running side to side and backwards isn't his role, he's a big man, he needs to bang people.

  • I like Davis.

  • Davis by far, great speed and nice vision...

Jennings runs like barry sanders except for the whole getting away part

  • Just like everyone else Davis is the clear cut choice. Not only with the athleticism, speed, and contributions on special teams but his background at Clemson and what he did before he got injured last season pushes him over the top. Jennings i thought had the edge with what he did last year against Pittsburgh but obviously didn't have much faith from Mangini when he started Jerome the next game. Like everyone else said, Jennings has been going backwards this preseason both figuratively and running the ball=p

  • also Jennings does have some off the field issues linegering(DWI). Davis and Jennings seem like two different styles. Davis is small and quick and Jennings is more of a bruiser with speed.

  • Just to play devil's advocate, consider this

    1. James Davis has been injured once and it was bad enough to keep him out for the season. What if he can never get back to what he was ?

    2. He has so far not demonstrated the same performance that he displayed last year. Jennings is not great but he was solid in regular season last year. We are still yet to see James Davis in regular season.

    + - - - - - - - - +

I have not made up my mind about who will be better just cos i have not enough from both on the field, in the preseason games, to convince me to lean one way or the other.

I completely agree! But I have to add that Davis seems to have a bigger upside then Jennings. I believe that we have seen all that we are going to see from him.

i'm tired of seeing jennings go backwards and try to make something happen. he got that off on the jags last season, but that isn't going to happen much in the nfl (atleast for a rb like him). edit: i think davis makes the team over jennings.

  • I liked how hard Jennings ran last year but this year, he must be desperate because he is always running around in circles trying to make a play. He's killing his chances doing that and Davis has impressed me in almost every game he has appeared. I think its a no brainer.

    Davis.
