Trade for Houshmanzadeh, possible?

  • Trading for and over paying an overrated, aging #2 WR when there are younger players that have a chance to develop into nice players in a season where the playoffs seem out of reach may be the dumbest idea possible.

  • I could give a shit less how much he gets paid if he can come in, produce and help the young WRs get better.

  • Two years ago I would have been all for this. Whos your momma took a ton of pressure off chad and all he did was catch passes for 1st downs. He was usually double covered when making them. But, I'm not sure he has that much left which is why seattle is trading him

  • Billionaire owner and an uncapped year. If mangini and holmgren think he could help then why the hell not?

Because the guy's 33 years old, getting franchise money- which he's not worth- and Seattle's not going to give him away free. & help with what? Like maybe one more win, and take reps from Robo and Massaquoi?

Veteran presence? We have Ingram, assuming he doesn't get cut- and he's probably playing for vet minimum.

  • I'm sorry but Houshmanzadeh is NOT a "legitimate downfield threat". He's a possession receiver and that's about it. I don't think he really adds anything to the receiving corps. If we add a WR it needs to be someone with deep threat ability.

  • I wouldnt mind us picking him up. look at it this way, if we have a good year and can potentially make a playoff push wouldnt it be nice to have a pretty good vet. reciever to help us out? we have ingram(thats if he survives the cut) but housh is a definate upgrade. i like our young wr's and would like to see them progress, but if we got a shot we need all the help we can get.

  • Guys first off as you know he was released.

The second point though contract would be league mininum. Seatle has to pay the difference of what ever a team pays him to make his 7 mill dolla contract. So any team that picks him up will be league minium

Especially if Robo is a dud and doesn't shape up. We can cut him, sign Housh, cut our losses and draft a better WR down the line. But MoMass, Housh, Stuckey, Cribbs and Engram would be viable.

Browns may go after Michael Clayton, who just got released.

Bump up the run game and bump down the passing game if that happens.

You are nuts. They aren't going to cut Robiskie just to sign Housh. If that doesn't happen immediately, Housh won't be available. And they aren't going to cut Robiskie after the great offseason he's had.

  • From what I understand, dude signed with the Vikings so it is a mute point

  • He could help the team this year but it would probably be at the expense of a rookie with raw ability. I think he goes to an almost sure playoff team

or a 'moot point' as the case may be.... (sorry, couldn't resist)

I stand corrected; appreciate the help

  • Why is everybody obsessed with developing young players. These undrafted and late round pics you want to develop more than likely wont cut it. Everybody wanted to develop Alex Hall, Beau Bell, Martin Rucker etc. etc are they even in the league anymore....... Why not get a capable guy that can contribute until we use a early round pick to fill the position or somebody develops how there supposed to. Guys that people talk about developing wont get playing time anyway, so who exactly would these proven vets be taking playing time from?

Ask Leinart how his offseason went. It went great, then came the games and.... he was cut. Just sayin'...

We aren't talking about guys like Alex Hall, Martin Rucker, Carlton Mitchell, et. al.

We are talking about guys like Massaquoi, Robiskie, and Stuckey.

And nothing ruins good team chemistry, which the Browns seem to have, more than a locker room Cancer, which Housh is from all accounts.

Im not talking about just housh, every vet that come's available get's shot down. These guys wouldn't be brought in to take reps away from our young guys that have shown they can get it done. You bring them in for depth, 3rd, 4th guys, injury insurance. Jarvis Green sounds like some good depth on the D-line to me, why not add him. We need depth at WR, I dont who else is available there but I know Cincy released Dez Briscoe today, Im hoping we bring him in on the practice squad. Justin Hartwig wouldn't be a bad backup at C/G. Good teams add these type guys, you cant do it all with young unproven players

  • Could be a Great Fit in The Browns system Lets Take him.
