Will Harrison's fumble-itis limit his carries next week

  • I know it's not your intention to say so, but I can't figure out why people here will only settle for one feature back. It's rare to find a back that runs between the tackles, catches out of the backfield, moves the chains on 3rd and 1, and picks up blitzes on 3rd and long. It takes two (in most cases) capable backs to be effective in all aspects of the game. People (not necessarily fans) here just seem to love breaking up into factions so they have something to argue about. No single back on our roster is the solution.

Edit: I don't see Harrison as an integral or irreplaceable part of the Browns offense, regardless of where some of you guys drafted him in your fantasy league.

I am with you fully. Personally, I've been advocating the the running back by committee system for years. It helps to have a number of backs with different strengths because it makes the opposing team spend more time trying to gameplan around all of your RB's. I don't want a feature back, I'd love a two back system. But Harrison didn't do anything today, and the offense stalled nearly every time he was on the field. He's a receiving back and that's it, don't try to run with him. Especially between the tackles.

  • the refs are full of crap. they ruled jerome down by contact and then let the chiefs talk them into a fumble call. the ground can't cause a fumble. it was a bad call.

  • Hillis proved why he deserved the start, and Harrison proved why he doesn't.

He's a mediocre back at best, and those games last year didn't mean shit. Hillis proved he can move the chains, Harrison proved he can't do shit when handed off the ball. He's a receiving back, not a running back.

Get him the hell out of Cleveland and let James Davis start alongside Hillis. Hell, the only upside to Harrison was his speed, and James Davis is faster than him anyway.

And jesus, he's got this fumble history. He just can't hold onto the rock. He's the reason we lost that game, because of his fumble. (That was sarcasm, in case any of you thick headed imbeciles try to use that as an argument point)

To bad Harrison didn't even fumble today. Blows your theory!

  • Obviously you didn't watch the game....It was Harrison's fumble that led to the first 3 points KC scored in the first quarter.

He was down and the ground caused it. Replay showed that.

Either way, when he is passed the ball and gets into space he does a great job - like today when he caught four balls and they were positive plays.

Hillis will never be more than a role player. Never. He is not a starting back and for some reason the only team in the NFL that thinks he can be is the Browns.

He serves a purpose and did it well today. Give him the ball when you need that tough yard near the goaline. Other than that, you have a guy who is the same as Jamal Lewis the past couple of years.

I agree that no single back on our roster is the solution. But for anyone to argue that Hillis is better than Harrison just goes to show that they don't know a hell of a lot about football.

    It was ruled a fumble . . . . but it wasn't a fumble.

The offense was stalled practically all game no matter who the hell was out there! Did you even watch the game????????

First touchdown Harrison probably had 30 yards on the drive and was used the right way (which is rare) when he was passed the ball and allowed to operate in space.

The second touchdown was a result of a big play to Cribbs.

Other than that, it stalled for virtually the entire game.

  • WHO CARES ABOUT THE NONFUMBLE...I'm pissed off that the scrub can't get more than 2 yards a carry. What good is hanging on to the ball if you just KILL an offense's drive anyways? I'm sick of seeing harrison. More Hillis NOW!

As has been stated on here before, Harrison's career YPC is the same as Hillis's.

Obviously the Browns NEED the big play to score. Harrison allows for that while Hillis does not. Hillis has a role and it should be short yardage or to merely give a different look.

They will never be able to sustain a drive with inconsistent QB play - has nothing to so with RB's. It isn't high school ball where teams actually drive 80 yards down the field with 16 rushes.

  • I haven't read throug this thread, but it's time for the James Davis experiment to begin. Fumbling is unacceptable.

Better isn't the word I used. I said Harrison is not the do it all feature back that some people are trying to wish into existence. For the record, I don't think Hillis is either. The FO doesn't think so either, because they used a 2nd round pick on a RB a couple of months after Harrison walked on water at the end of the year and a month or so after they brought in Hillis. The NFL is a running back by committee league right now, with some exceptions. Jamaal Charles had a similar end to last year, and his carries have been split evenly with Thomas Jones. Swapping the roles of the two RB's wouldn't change the outcome of the two games. They both coughed up the ball. Poor decision making and turnovers out of our stumbling offense as a whole have brought us to where we are today, not because someone's favorite of the two didn't dominate the carries.

  • Told ya he was nothing special

  • The problem with the Browns and Brian Daboll is that they have no clue how to draw up an offense. Harrison is a cutback runner who would do very well if we ran some counter plays. Sadly Daboll has no clue how to utilize his personell at any position, not just running back. Any fool can design a play for Hillis. Just tell him to run straight and kill anyone in his way. It will eventually lead to him getting injured.

That was such a bullshit call! 😠 At any rate, we were able to overcome it, but no second half points 2 weeks in a row is unacceptable!!!!!! 😠😠😠😠

Actually, its obvious you didn't watch the game... if you think that was a fumble, your insane. First, I get it, sometimes the refs call something that isn't right, because its hard to see everything the way it happened. But saying that there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the fumble call was ridiculous.

  • These homers are ridiculous. Harrison is nothing more than a receiving back, and that's all he'll ever be. This is the DA/BQ argument all over again.

No... it is Charlie Frye/DA all over again... lol
