Honestly last years whole draft was a HUGE FAILURE!!!!!! Veikune cut, Maiava IR but should be cut cause Titus Brown is better, Robiskie sucks , Massoquoi hopefully will continue to grow but dissapointing still, Davis not getting any time, Francies cut, Don Carey gone. Mack is the man but last years draft was a D- and we are paying for it now because we wasted our 2nd rounders.,
***********************************************
WHAT? Those two receivers may not be super studs, but they are growing. They've been open, and haven't gotten the ball.
That's a bad sign. We didn't waste second rounders. This year's draft was outstanding. Why omit that?
Can you imagine if the Browns draft a wr in the high first round, a pass rusher in the second, and a RT in the third round?
All you need is Delhomme to be healthy, and McCoy to come on strong.
I think Seneca will bounce back this week vs the dirty, stupid, ugly stinkin ratbirds.

You know, this truth that you are telling us about last year's draft is depressing....knock it off. Quit being so brutally truthful!

If mack turns in to a pro-bowl player, which I think he will, it becomes a "A" draft.
One pro-bowl type player a draft is as good as it gets.

Hmmm.. i'm not so sure that "getting seperation" is the biggest dilema. Sure... Seperation needs to happen, but won't happen everytime. What you have to have is confidence in both the QB and the WR.
Watch teams like the saints, colts, pats, texans etc., Those QB's aren't always throwing to wide open recievers. Sometimes they are and sometimes they aren't. I have always had the theory that on a 1v1 situation, there is always a place to throw the ball so the reciever can catch it. And that is a huge difference and that is on the QB IMO. You also have to have confidence that your WR core will go after every ball and make attempts on them...
There are so many variables to this game it's really tough to pin point just one thing. We need smarts, we need talent, well coached talent turns into excellence in execution, and then there is the just plain out athletes who make things happen, like a wes welker. So many variables.. I just see us playing the game as it is written and not allowing the players to think outside the box.
Watching the 49ers and Saints game... in the last two minutes. guess who was calling the plays for the niners.. there QB.. UNLESS the clock stopped or a time out called the staff called the play. But he was out there making the plays and he drove them down for a touchdown and they converted for two to tie the game.
Do you think Mangini can let go of the reigns to allow that... I don't see that if it is happening..

Trade Jerome Harrison for Kevin Walter.
That's about the only thing we could offer Houston that they need, and they don't even really need that. Arian Foster might actually be the real deal.

That sounds cruel but very true. Hopefully this year's draft picks will pan out better.

I think a lot of it comes from the way practices have been. We all know how bad our team has been since we came back. For how bad our team has been, the practice squad has been worse. When our first teamers are running plays against the practice squad, they'll get seperation, they'll look good. The blocks will be there. But then they get to be overwhelmed when they get in the game.
Even when first teamers practice against first teamers, it's not much different. And that's because most of our first teamers were no better than practice squad players. Now that we've added depth and some marginal skill to the roster, we're starting to look a little better. And that's not just because of how these guys play in the game.
Adding Gocong, Fujita, and Roth to the linebacking corps instantly improves what we were putting on the field at that position, but it also makes our offensive line better. Because in practice, the O-line is having to block these guys. They're having to pick up blitzes that are better executed and faster than the ones they used to have to pick up in practice.
Adding Haden and Sheldon Brown is going to make our nickel defense one of our strong points, but it's also helping MoMass, Cribbs and Robo come along as receivers. Now they have to work harder everyday at beating the press and getting seperation. Unfortunately, it looks like they still need a lot of help on that front.
Nabbing Ben Watson was probably the best offseason move we made. Not only does he improve our offense by giving us another receiving threat, but he makes our linebackers have to worry about covering the shallow zones and watch for block release routes in practice.
I'm sure Colt McCoy has already come along pretty well in the short time he's been with us. He's probably advanced further than any of our previous QB draft picks, honestly. Those other QB's never had the same level of skill to play against day in and day out in practice.
Sure, we've dropped two games that were easy wins... but that's bad game management and inexperience. We're not used to winning yet, but we'll get there.

I am not trying to call anyone out. But when brandon marshal came on the market and anquan boldin and terrell owens. Everyone goot so mad and said they didn't fit in with us, let's have our young recievers mature.
Our wrs can't beat anyone one on one. They have no sideline aweness.
Ur right those other receivers didn't fit, they are game changers..
We need to stop being homos and get a player lke vincent jackson..

The posts here are archived, you have a quote or anything from me stating that I was against bringing in a vet? I hate our young receivers and have called them out at every turn. Its well documented here that I hated Robiskie's father (as a receiver coach) and thought Robiskie was the worst #1 receiver at OSU in my adult lifetime. I think Momass is totally over-rated and can't stand that he won't come back for a ball, nor fight for one. I would have cut MoMass flat-out. I never thought Cribbs was a receiver and I called Engram old and washed up at training camp this season.
If you can find a thread or post to back-up calling me out here in your subject title, please present it, or otherwise retract it.

Back in April, someone started this same exact topic (http://thebrownsboard.com/forums/index.php...st&p=166202)
Funny, you don't have a single post in that thread, and I am plastered throughout it calling for a veteran presence at WR. I practically ass-fucked Torry Holt in the thread, yet you did zero homework in mentioning me as someone in favor of the opposite.
Back in April was when this topic held merit, not two weeks into an 0-2 start and acting like a know-it-all.

July 1st, I found a post where I stated that you can ask me on Christmas, my Birthday or any other day, but I will still think that our WR's suck (source).
Here is a post from me on April 25th with concern that "The only addition the Browns have made to a pretty poor Receiving core is yesterdays 6th Round pick Carlton Mitchell from South Florida."
I'm insulted my names in this thread topic. I went out on a limb for old washed up vets such as Laverneous Coles & Torry Holt in favor of them over the dumb, slowass, un-aggressive rooks we have here. I love Terrel Owens and remember greeting the lone Bengal fan who walked in here by praising them picking up T.O. and drafting Shipley from Texas.
This topic and it's starter are a Johnny-come-lately ... golf clap for addressing the WR position in late-September, your right on time cowboy.

i think you're parsing his post. Rebel said that you and Zombo need to be open to a vet WR and stop being homos. i'm reading it as a package. You guys are only focused on the WR aspect.
Does that help? i'm just trying to make peace here.

They are all gone now, you guys should have jumped into the thread when we were discussing this back in April.

Wrong again, Zippy is still a young WR Homo, you were only wrong by lumping me with him ... and calling me an old timer. I'm a young whipper-snapper.
Holy shit go grab a margaritta and relax your getting too old to get your blood pressure up. we need you around for a few more games to help out with the taigates

Shut-up, we are on a two game losing streak and it's time to quit with the pansy posts. This guy needed to do a better job at posting, like do some homework first, and bring an A-game.
Carlton Mitchell is going to have 6 catches for 112 yards Sunday!

Are you forgetting the Steelers 1974 draft? (4 Hall of Famers). THAT'S as good as it gets!
No, I don't forget anything my friend.
I am just saying a pro bowler a draft is as good as it gets.
You want to mention that draft....fine.
I try to eliminate flukes.....but, ok, you are right, if that makes you feel better.

The problem with those receivers is they are selfish. Correct me if I am wrong. But they need to sign a vet to help teach and play. A Chris Carter like guy.

Maybe we need to get some receivers that have some balls and want to make a name for themselves. Robiskie seems to be a bust as a draft pick. He cannot get seperation from db's if they fell down.

It would be nice to duplicate 1978 when the Browns took Newsome and Matthews in the first round. A HOFer and a near HOFer. I don't think we have come real close to having anything near that quality since, have we?
