Kevin Kolb

The Browns Board

  • Ask Houston how they like Matt Schaub. Kolb looked awfully good last year in his 2 starts. 1st QB in NFL history to throw back to back 400 yard games in their first 2 starts.

Schaub was a 2nd round pick that saw limited time on the field behind Vick. Houston has a bonafide star at QB. The Browns have nothing. If you're going to give JD $7 million guaranteed I would surely give up a 2nd and 3rd for Kolb assuming it's even a possibility.

  • Kolb seems to fit in PERFECTLY with the clowns.

couldn't make it on a decent team that is built to win now......................but will somehow be clevelands messiah.

hmmmm..............deja vu? isn't this the same "winning" recipe you tried with JD?

By "couldn't make it" you do realize he only got a half to basically prove his worth after 2 monster starts last year. And his benching was due to a concussion and a big game by a back up against the Lions ...

  • LOL, im not surprised at all..since that makes it obvious that we will likely retain the current staff for at least a while we will need to get a ready trained QB as opposed to making our own...yet again....

At this point im not convinced kolb is even worth what they will ask if they decided to trade him...but its likely they wont trade him anyways...

I have to say Gips, I love your little poem! I feel ya! Same shit, different toilet! Cleveland: YA GOTTA BE TOUGH!!! 🙄

exactly shaub PLAYED his way to a starting position. Kolb was handed it and has now lost it. Vick is the starter this sunday not because Kolb is hurt but because he is the better QB. (wich is a scary thing)

no, by "didn't make it" i'm not talking about the half of football he played this year.......i'm talking about the 3 yrs of preperation he had sitting behind McNabb. you can't tell me anything i don't already know about the eagles and philly football. i just moved away from the area after living there for about 3yrs. Kolb has been andy reid's golden boy from the time he was drafted and reid has done as much as possible to get him on the field.

coaches get alot more time to evaluate than we do and from what the coaches see on a everyday basis Vick not Kolb gives them the best chance to win.

to quote a movie line........."he has been weighed, he has been measured, and he has been found wanting".

What a fantastic movie. I am actually going to go watch that right now, thanks to you.

  • the problem with the browns is they dont have enough starting QBs?

maybe its just me but i dont see that being the browns biggest problem.

and what do the browns have to offer the eagles for a starting caliber quarterback?

  • I would LOVE Kolb.

I never have QB boners but I could get one if we could get Kolb.

  • i dont think its necessary to get kolb, delhomme was a waste imo, but wallace is a solid nfl qb, he wont get 300 yards a game but he also wont be stupid with the football. Either way priority #1 should be a right side of the line. Just keep wallace and draft dwight dasher in like the 5th or 6th next year and we r set lol

  • So Vick has 1 1/2 good games and the Eagles are open to trading Kolb? Andy Reid has lost his damned mind!

Holmgren got Favre from the Falcons bench, he wasn't a great QB or anything. I'd say trust the Walrus, but it will just fall on morons ears (steeler fans).

you can count me in as a Browns fan who does not want to trade for Kolb.

  • mikeyP72 said:

Edited post I didn't want to make it sound like I WANTED Kolb. I'm not sold on him and I think we need to fix other holes. If we trade Shaun Rodgers and a pick for Kolb I'd be upset, we may be able to use him to get a play maker.

We need playmakers. proven playmakers. If we are trading for them, then im all up for it. Projects ? No thank you. Im not saying Kolb will be a bad QB, He might pan out well and someone in the future might point to thins post and burn me , but right now i think the Browns have to go with safe trades.

  • I would would rather see us find and trade for a decent to elite WR honestly...it would do wonders for this offense as a whole, i dont see the eagles letting kolb go to heckert at a fair price after all they tried to inflate mcnabbs value if heckert wanted him....hehehehehe

  • If we could get Kolb for a reasonable deal, I'd go with it.

  • I think Andy Reid made the right decision on starting Vick. They would be fooooolish to trade kolb. Not happening

Must not be high on McCoy

The guy almost didn't make the roster and was drafted in the 3rd round. I thought most of you were pretty down on McCoy after his lack luster preseason and then the threats of him being cut before the season began? Kevin Kolb has the skills to be a pretty good QB. I'd say trading for him would be a drastic improvement over what you have including McCoy who I never felt was cut out for the NFL. Kolb sure is accurate and those talking about his concussion like it's a game changer are mental. A lot of QB's have had concussions and I believe that was Kolb's first. The next question is what do you give up for Kolb and what are the Eagles asking? I'd wager the Eagles aren't even entertaining the offer because even though Vick has performed well there is no guarantee it continues. I doubt anything happens.

  • A more important question, With the 2011 said to be QB rich should the Browns use their first round pick to draft a Quarterback ?

I am of the belief that they should still go for a monster defensive player DL or a maniac OLB to get to the passer.

Though all positions are a crap shoot and the Browns have blown it with high DL picks before (C. Brown, Wimbley, Warren), I still think it is a priority.

In reality, if say Colt McCoy were coming out this year wouldn't he be rated equal to or better than just about any QB who would be coming out in next year's draft?

I think what we should do is to let the experts make these decisions. Whether McCoy is or is not cut out for the NFL, you have no clue any more than I do. Whether Kolb would be a good solution, you nor I have any clue.

If Holmgren and Heckert are ready, willing and waiting to acquire Kolb in a trade, then I am fine with that. If they aren't, then I am fine with that as well.

I do agree with you that I think the Eagles sit on their QB situation for this year notwithstanding the change in QB. It would be foolish of them to weaken themselves by trading Kolb...even if they are convinced that Vick is their savior. They still need a good backup, and Kolb would seem to be as good for them as anyone else.

  • Reid: Vick to start for year; no guarantee Kolb will be on team after trade deadline

It's unclear what Vick's long-term future will be though. Reid would not answer a question about whether the team will look to extend the quarterback's contract. He is in the final year of his deal with the Eagles.

Reid also would not guarantee that Kevin Kolb will remain with the team after the Oct. 19 trade deadline, despite touting Kolb's "bright future" in the NFL.

"I can’t predict anything down that far, nobody in this league can do that, that’s ridiculous," Reid said. "The future, we’ll just have to see."

Reid, however, said he wants Kolb on the Eagles.

"This is not about Kevin Kolb, this is about Michael Vick. Kevin Kolb has got a bright, bright future. I mean bright future ... but Michael Vick I think surprised all of us with his play."

Several players were asked about the change, they all stuck to the company line: they will support whatever their coaches decide.

Reid conceded that Kolb would not have lost his job had he not suffered a concussion against the Packers.

He said no one else pressed him to make the switch.

"I didn't talk to a player, I didn't talk to a coach, I talked to one guy for two days about this," Reid said -- referring to Kolb. "Whatever anyone else says about this, is not right."

Kolb took the high road when asked about the switch.

"The NFL is a tough spot and you have to compete every day. I understand that and I understand that Mike's a great player and he's playing great. Again, I want to be out there, and the hardest thing is, you want to go battle with your guys. We spent a lot of time together and I want out there and fighting every down with them," he said.

Get the hell out of here. You play Monday morning QB more than anyone. McCoy barely made the roster, is undersized, not all that accurate and drafted in the 3rd round. I'll say one thing, the kid is a winner but that only goes so far in the NFL. It can go a long way in the college game but as I said in the other thread the NFL is a completely different animal. If McCoy were legit they wouldn't even entertain the idea of Kolb. I think you can almost guarantee the Browns draft a QB next draft but once again Kolb isn't going anywhere. You and I obviously agree on that front.

How did Schaub play his way to being a starter for the Texans? Do you realize in this first 3 years in Atlanta he started exactly 2 games. Hmmm.....pretty much the same number as Kolb

    Schaub's NFL Stats

    Here is Kolb's stats

    Kolb's NFL Stats

Ultimately, my point is Schaub is very similar in situation to Kolb. I would rather go the Kolb route than to give any drafted QB in 2011 $50 million guaranteed.
