dont be mad because i rained on your parade

ive lived in ohio for my entire life and ive noticed a lot of things not being a browns fan. i notice things like these threads where you guys get all excited and up in arms about a QB and then he has a bad game or 2 and you guys completely jump off him

it happened with couch. it happened with frye. all the chants from the fans in the stands said that it should've happened to quinn and when you boo your starting QB off the field and chant some unproven draft pick into a game, no wonder why nobody wants to play in cleveland

im not trying to start anything but ive seen cleveland suffer for too long and after watching new orleans turn it around ive noticed a lot of things the browns have been doing wrong.

why dont you just try to let colt sit and learn rather than throwing him into the fire too soon

I understand your point, but when a rookie QB with lots of potential is your only option and is as good as a veteran who will be gone in a year or two, why not give him playing time and let him get the feel of the game ? Im sure, Bradford, Stafford even Matt Ryan etc are all learning even though they are/were rookie starters.

all of those players play for noticably better teams

there is a difference between throwing a QB into the fire and letting him play behind an already established team

the ravens, jets, rams, lions, and falcons all have better teams than the browns do and they dont have to rely on their QBs to win

further more, the potential is just unproven skill. thats something that isnt going to show up right away and if he has potential, why not let him sit, learn under 2 solid vets, and then come in with all the knowledge and let his physical skills do the work

throwing him in right now means he is going off only skill and doesnt have the knowledge that you gain from bein in the league for a few seasons

I think we can pretty much all agree that we arent making the playoffs this year, and that Delhomme is not the long term answer. Also, it is pretty well known that it is almost impossible to make the playoffs or be a perennial contender without an adequate QB no matter what the rest of your team looks like. That being said, we need to find our FRANCHISE QB for the Browns to even talk about playoffs (easier said than done)...

This upcoming draft with our probably high pick and the DEEP QB talent this year, we need to figure out if we should grab a Mallet, Luck, or Locker or decide if Colt could be our future. THIS is the reason why he should start for the rest of the year. We need to have preliminary data back in order to stick by him for at least a few more years or pick a "potential stud" QB with our first pick. I was, like the rest of you, impressed with Colt's play on Sunday and hope to see more of him the rest of the year.

One thing I forgotto mention, One negative I saw yesterday was that Colt immediaty started to look to run as soon as someone got with 2 yards of him. All rookies do it and this will improve with time. Maybe he was just nervous abou getting hit or that he was getting rushed at by one of the best front sevens in the league. Either way, this will improve and he will learn. Good job Colt.

Ps, does anyone else think we should start using some 3 Ninjas references when we talk about him? Just me?

Another tidbit, Colt had 281 passage yards against. Great defense with no receivers to throw to. . Imagine what he may do if he eve gets some decent options to throw to

Colt is up to the challenge...Canton what other options Delomme?...come on you know being a Saints fan how bad he is...he likes to give games to the other team..this is exactly what the Browns need ..a young gun to get excited about...i bet the players are fired up even in this loss.....If Bradford can start why not Colt?...

colt is a good QB as we saw in college

yes they have delhomme. he is the captain and the starter. QBs dont get named captain and then get benched. if they won those titles then give them their chance

i hate delhomme but he was a good QB in carolina if you excuse this past season.

the difference between bradford and mccoy is that the rams dont have another option. their backup is AJ Feely......the browns have 2 proven vets in wallace and delhomme and history has shown that if you have time to learn behind even an average veteran, you will find success in this league

HMMM, is that fear I smell behind your post?

"Don't put Colt in....he needs time" "Put Jake in....he is more experience and will do better" (er, and, uh, he will also slip us at least 2-3 ints. to boot)

I also defy your premise that the Lions and Rams have a better team than the Browns. the Browns played the Ravens and Falcons basically evenly and lost on mistakes.

how about the losses to the buccs chiefs and steelers? close losses are still losses

the lions and rams are offensively both better than the browns which is the side of the ball that colt and other QBs play on

not to mention st louis is a 3-3 team and detroits win came against them. the browns only win is the bengals who are a bad 2-3 team

and remember that the rams dont have anyone else to rely on. AJ Feely is not as good as sam bradford. Matthew stafford was supposed to learn behind daunte culpepper just like colt mccoy is supposed to learn behind seneca and jake

a 3rd string QB doesnt just jump the 1st and 2nd string guys on the depth chart because of 1 game that was a loss anyway

and im scared? are you now talking smack because im a saints fan? dont confuse the 2. ive been posting here awhile now and my posts in this thread have nothing to do with the browns/saints upcoming game

If the Browns played the Rams and the Lions, I suspect that Las Vegas would favor the Browns right now, even with their 1-5 record. That is my premise....that a completley neutral party would likely perceive the Browns as being better than those 2...and the likely victor in a matchup between them. Yes, I think they would see close losses to teams that were 3-1 as being a positive.

Of course your posts have something to do with the Browns/Saints game. You are advocating for the Browns NOT to start Colt McCoy. The thing is, you should be afraid, very afraid, because this Colt may just make Saints out of them Aints, because instead of the Colt Peacemaker, the Browns may be bringing their Colt Warmaker :

Hes accurate. poised, smart, can run, a good leader, and a better arm than people say. Hes clearly the best qb we have now and we might as well let him grow as a player and get talent around him

All rookies do it and this will improve with time. Maybe he was just nervous abou getting hit or that he was getting rushed at by one of the best front sevens in the league. Either way, this will improve and he will learn. Good job Colt.

He did that in the first quarter. He was much better in the second half.

how about the losses to the buccs chiefs and steelers? close losses are still losses

the lions and rams are offensively both better than the browns which is the side of the ball that colt and other QBs play on

not to mention st louis is a 3-3 team and detroits win came against them. the browns only win is the bengals who are a bad 2-3 team

and remember that the rams dont have anyone else to rely on.

We have your back Canton. Look forward to getting into the Saints/Browns match-up tomorrow ... everyone is just still reeling from Steeler week.

We scored the awesome total of 10 POINTS. Yes he played much better than just about everyone thought and yes we have not much when it comes to WR's, but the TD was pretty late in the 4th quarter when the game was already decided. Let's wait a while before we declare him the next "Decent Brown's QB".

I am stuck on our own new term Poised.........what does that mean???????????

I like pocket presence which means situational awareness and poise and all the things a real QB does

if that is supplanted by poised well I will be so in awe of the new term to define a QB

Offense Wins.......Franchise QB's are the key.............Defense keeps you in the game.........Go Buckeyes

I think 'poise' is being used to mean "grace under pressure or in the face of adversity". Pocket presence is a good thing too but that's more immediate (in terms of under pass rush pressure). I think "poise" is a more general term and refers to the environment as well (at least in my mind)
