  • my girlfriend's nephews are twins. one is a steeler fan the other a cowboy fan. i asked them how it came about that having grown up in NY that they chose those teams to root for. both said it was because those were the teams that were winning all the time when they were growing up. total bandwagon fan base. wonder why they always say the beer i pour for them is kinda sour and has a wang to it!

Gee, who does that remind me of? The Queen. The Court Jester. I suppose they are also Yankee fans.

yep. that's about the only thing they agree on. they once got into a fist fight in the outfield of a softball game. yrs, they were on the same team!

Gotta love them bandwagon fans!!!! Let's just see how many of these "so-called fans" fall off when these teams start taking a dive. Dallas is already in a tailspin. As many front runners that they have I don't see a lot of Cowboys fans in NE Ohio. With that being said, my philosophy has always been to remain loyal to my city's, and state's teams despite their records. Yeah, it's painful sometimes, but that is what being a fan is all about. Always hoping, and remaining optimistic. It's easy to root for someone that wins all of the time. It takes someone with thick skin to stick by your team during the bad times. Fortunately with the Browns there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. At least you and I say we've been there all along.

totally agree. unfortunately i'm the lone browns fan in this river town i live in (i could go into the city to a brown backer joint but hate the city) and all my friends are of the other ilk. out of my small circle of friends i know 4 are cowboys, 2 giants, 2 miami and 1 bengal fan. given that most people here in southern ny are giants and jets fans but to have the mix of fans in one little area (who happen to have all grown up in NY, except me of course) is astounding. bunch of chumps, but fun to watch football with.

I think I know the area that you are in. Would you by any chance be in Rockland County, like say Stony Point, or Haverstraw area? My wife and I have friends in that area that we met on our honeymoon 10 years ago, and stayed in touch ever since.

no other side of the river in westchester. the area is called the river towns (i guess to bump up the real estate taxes etc.). people move up here who want a little bit of suburbia and can still get on the train iand be in nyc in about half an hour. very over-populated and way too expensive in every aspect. our plan is to move back to ohio when we save enough scratch (not too far off now). -peace.

  • Here is one person that fell off the Cowboy's bandwagon:

I've not been to your area, but have been to Rockland County, and yeah it is very pricey in that area. Go figure, NYC's metro area has the largest population of all the big cities in the US. My friend before they got married lived in a house that was more or less divided, and was paying about $1,500 for rent. Ridiculous! I will say though that when we were there several years back, after leaving the city in which our friends gave us a tour, we wanted stop somewhere for dinner, and thought about Dave And Busters at Rockland County Mall, and the one sports store had a Jim Brown throwback jersey displayed in their window. Me of course, I was already representing C-town, and had my big Browns coat on (we went in March and it was still quite cold). I got mad props for it throughout the city. Even on top the Empire State Building! 🙂

  • And here is another one...I guess a "split" image is appropriate here, no?:
