Personally I'd rather look at game stats and pound some beers at halftime rather than looking at some fake plastic bimbo dance around (theres a time and place for that, and its not during a football game!). As for the logo..umm, our logo is an orange helmet! It would look pretty dumb to put a picture of an orange helmet on an orange helmet.

How true. My Browns ballcap has an orange helmet. My Browns tobaggan hat has an orange helmet on it. My 2 Browns polo shirts have an orange helmet on it. My Browns t-shirts have orange helmets on it.

And here is a true story:

Three weeks back when I was sitting on the beach in Puerto Vallarta a guy comes by on the beach peddling serapes with sports team logos. (the beaches are swarming with peddlers trying to sell shit down there). I saw he had a Packers serape and a Bears serape and even some CFL team serapes (because next to peddlers the next most populous group in PV are Canucks). I asked him if he had a Browns serape. He didn't have one with him but he told me he could get one and bring it the next day. He said it would cost something like the equivalent $25.00-30.00. I said we would see. The next day he comes back around, and yes, he pulls out a Cleveland Browns serape. So far so good.....it is brown and orange and white and has the Browns orange helmet displayed prominently in the center....except, written on the helmet is the word "Cleveland". I told the guy "wait a minute, this thing is defective. The logo is wrong. The word Cleveland does NOT appear on the orange helmet of the Cleveland Browns logo. Anyone and everyone who is a fan of the Browns or knows anything about the NFL knows that. That would be like printing the word "Dallas" right in the middle of the star that is the Cowboys logo. You need to tell whomever is making this product that it is defective". So I told him I would only give him half price for a defective product. He could take it or leave it. Well, he took it, and I only paid like $12.00 for the serape.

Nevertheless, perhaps at our next Tailgate party I will wear the serape with the defective Cleveland Browns logo on it.

me too, i have no clue what it is. is it one of those REALLY, REALLY long scarfs? that's my only guess 🙂

  • Here is one of the more famous serapes ever worn:

    eastwoodbox.jpg

    They are essentially a poncho

  • A serape doesn't even have to be Mexican:

    tartan-serape.jpg

But of course the Mexican ones you seen now are usually very costumy:

    MainMR148126.jpg

  • You....you wear those? hmmm.

my thoughts exactly.. lol im just givin ya a hard time man..

  • I know you can get Browns ponchos. Ponchos, I believe usually have a hood and some might be made of synthetic materials. Serapes would not have the hood and would be more natural cloth.

I might wear the Browns one to a tailgate when it is quite cold out. I bought is more as a "fun" thing. (but not if it were raining because it is cloth). I wouldn't wear the costumy Mexican one, but in the right situation I might wear an Irish or Scottish Tartan one, sure. They are commonly worn in the colder temperatures of rural Scotland/Ireland/Wales.I don't own one, but I might wear one.

If a serape isn't Mexican does it cease to be a serape and become a shawl? I've never been to mexico but I have been to Scotland I think they deep fry their serape.

  • From the online dictionary:

    serape [səˈrɑːpɪ]

    n

    1. (Clothing & Fashion) a blanket-like shawl often of brightly-coloured wool worn by men in Latin America

    2. (Clothing & Fashion) a large shawl worn around the shoulders by women as a fashion garment

Call it whatever you want I guess.

Bottom line: I guess I am going to have to wear it if we have another tailgate so that a photo can be taken and posted on this site.

    Whoa, whoa, whoa there....

Logo on the helmet be damned, yes. But cheerleaders? Why on earth any red-blooded man would NOT want hot cheerleaders is beyond me. During halftime or other parts of the game where it's slow to have something nice to watch - why not? And furthermore, wouldn't it be nice to have them milling around in the various bars or other parts of the stadium before the game?

Maybe it's just me, but I have NOTHING against welcoming cheerleaders with both arms...and/or other body parts if need be.....! 😆

lol seriously not trying to be mean or insult you in any way, but that post just reeks of virgin!

LOL! Virgin - man that's funny! If I'm a virgin then the Pope has turned Muslim. Good points from you but I'm guessing you're a pretty young guy if you're choosing to pound some beers at half. But believe me when I tell you I was once you but now have a different life and can't afford to get completely blitzed on all Sunday afternoons. A lot of games we head into the club and have drinks with clients or customers. Other games I'm there with my kids or family. Some games I focus solely on the game. And some games I'm there to tie one on and cheer as loudly as I can.

There are plenty of fans that would enjoy cheerleaders not only for the reasons I was stating but other reasons as well. I know my 9 yr old daughter who began cheerleading this year for our local school team would love having cheerleaders to watch at games. She'd love to watch their cheers and dances and stuff. She loves the Cavs dance girls for this reason. The kids like to get pictures with them when they come up the the lounge area of the Q. I think they'd like to see the Browns cheerleaders as well.

Plus, I'm not saying I'd go to watch the cheerleaders, but they certainly don't detract from the game or the atmosphere at all. What is a Browns game? An entertainment event or a college frat party? The game is the main event but it can always be enhanced with other additions. Chomps, the kids events before the game, tailgating, having a band play at half....these are all additives to the overall event. They would be meaningless without the game itself, but there is nothing wrong with them.

Do you dig when they have a jet fly-over just before kickoff? Of course - everyone does. That's just another example of a side attraction that isn't necessary but adds to the atmosphere. I really don't get why people are opposed to something as trivial as having cheerleaders...

Heres the way I see it, the Browns represent tradition and old school football, adding cheerleaders would totally go against that. I mean hell, I respect the Steelers for the fact that they don't have cheerleaders. My best friend is a Steelers fan and we've always dug on the fact that our teams represent the old school ways of the league. I would honestly be upset and disappointed with either organization if they added the bimbos, but thats just me.

  • not a Browns fan, but it has just always irked me that you guys don't have anything on your helmets. I see it as a flaw in the league as a whole--something's missing. I could definitely understand it if you had had great success with that look, that would change everything-- but you are one of a handful of teams never to have been in the SB, despite having been in the league since before the SB era.

the logos I am suggesting are

    1) the interlocking 'C' & 'B' that you guys had at midfield several yrs back (not the CB from 1966 or so)

    2) the player's number. You had this in the late 50's. I think Jim Brown played with this look. Doesn't that give it enough traditional pedigree?

In either case, the logo could be small if that would make you happier. In the case of the interlocking 'C' and 'B', it could even be on the back instead of the side (kind of like the 'V' on the Fresno State helmets).

Also in either case, the logo could be on one side only (unless you go with the back-logo idea)

Poll results from the old forum

which of the following do you prefer?

    • interlocking 'C' & 'B' : 3 votes
    • player's number: 4 votes
    • status quo: 25 votes

    I would rather...

    • keep the helmet status quo and never go to the SB: 13 votes
    • get a logo and win the SB: 17 votes

I've got a better suggestion. Find the highest bridge you can and jump off of it you stupid f**k. You must have some kind of birth defect that you got from your dumb-ass Ho mother, of course you never knew who your bastard dad was. Hope I don't sound to bitter but I'm trying to be nice. Go troll some where else bit*h.

Not meant to be verse in any way lol! Anyway - yes, I like the old-school feeling our team exudes. But I have said before and will continue to champion that in this day and age the Browns really do need to change and get with the times to an extent. There are ways to keep the feel and tradition in place but also add some minor enhancements to attract alternate fanbases or make the game more of an event to make it fun for all, not just hard-core fans.

  • It irks me that most football fans are idiots.

All this being said, I wouldnt mind some changes to the uni but not the helmet. I liked the orange jerseys and the orange pants. Brown jersey and brown pants would be cool.

The Brown pants have been permanently retired- (almost universally hated) and as to the orange jerseys, they make the Browns look too much like Clemson.

I agree about the orange jerseys. I live in SC and I see quite enough orange from Clemson and their fans.

    Always liked Meredith. Staubach too.

Har, har. The Lone Star is the emblem of front running bandwagoners everywhere. Cowboy gear hasn't been seen much in SW Ohio lately. Same sort of frontrunners that were all 49ers fans in the 80s, then Packers fans, and now Steeler homers. Everybody loves a winner LALALALALA!!! It figures now- the Cowboys are ALL glitz, the Browns are the anti-Glitz team of the NFL. FYI the 'Boys are almost universally hated outside of Dallas. America's Team? My A$$. Go take a look at the thread of "favorite- hated teams" and see how often Dallas is mentioned.

As to you winning another 5 before the Browns win one, I doubt it. With Jerry doing the meddling, no top flight coach is going to want to come to the Big D unless Jones has another billion dollars to bribe him to come there.

  • I get a kick out of it when people call Cowboy fans "frontrunners" right in the midst of a miserable season such as this one. It is a tacit admission that deep inside, they know that the 'boys will never be down for long, that their rightful place is in front.
