Are you kidding? Do you know how much it would burn Shitsburgs fans' asses if Cowher came here to coach? I have been a lifelong Browns fan and I voted for him.

    Plus, can you imagine this...

You are delusional. I don't like him and he is still a steeler homer. If you don't believe me just watch the CBS NFL show...

We deserve someone who will bleed brown and orange...

    per his wikipedia page

    "Professional career

He began his NFL career as a player. He was a free-agent linebacker with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1979, and then signed with the Cleveland Browns the following year. Cowher played three seasons (1980–82) in Cleveland, making him a member of the Kardiac Kids, before being traded back to the Eagles, where he played two more years (1983–84). His tenure in Philadelphia included tackling a young Jeff Fisher (who later became the head coach of the Tennessee Titans) when playing against the Chicago Bears, causing Fisher to injure his ankle and prematurely ending his playing career.[1] The two would later be rival head coaches and friends in the AFC Central, and Fisher has credited his injury at the hands of Cowher having the unintended consequence to get into coaching.

Cowher primarily played special teams during his playing career, and placed emphasis on special teams during his coaching career. Cowher credits being a "bubble player" during his playing career to influence him on his coaching career, feeling that such players work the hardest for a roster spot (and sometimes still get cut, hence the term "bubble player"), and thus make better head coaches than those with successful playing careers.

    Coaching career

Cowher began his coaching career in 1985 at age 28 under Marty Schottenheimer with the Cleveland Browns. He was the Browns' special teams coach in 1985–86 and secondary coach in 1987–88 before following Schottenheimer to the Kansas City Chiefs in 1989 as defensive coordinator."

...I'd say he might have a little orange and brown in his blood.

  • Want and "realistic" are two different things. I agree with Robotron that Cowher will NEVER coach the Browns. Meyer is retiring (again) because of health problems. Harbaugh will take the truckload of money Michigan will throw at him when Rodriguez gets dumped. Holmgren's likely to stay retired.

I'm not thrilled about the remaining options.

  • i voted for ryan he has done a good jod with a defense full of nobodys

  • Whats with no one saying they want Holmgren? He is right in front of our faces and never loses. So why not?

he's a FOM (fat old man) and belongs behind the desk where he'll probably be better than he was as a coach. and remember: you are the one who started this thread and then hoped it wouldn't get out of hand. i like the browns hiring holmgren as prez but not as coach. what do you want to have him get in a players face on the sidelines and then drop dead because of all the donuts he scarfed? not for nothing but i prefer a HC that actually looks like he's in shape, knows a little something about conditioning and can practice what he preaches.

yes mangini is finally in shape after years of looking like a fat fxxk, but at least he made the move.

  • Jimmy Johnson,"How bout them Browns"

  • Why isn't chris palmer on this list?

I am pretty sure his weight has nothing to do with his coaching abilities, example: Rex Ryan.

  • The idea of a Steelers icon coaching the Browns makes he queasy. Couldn't take it.

My first pick would be Harbaugh. He's a WCO guy and he's going to be a phenomenal head coach. He's Bill Walsh smart but fiery as hell. He's almost perfect.

After that, I'd say Gruden, another WCO guy who can motivate. He knows football.

And yeah, I'd take either over Mangini.

I also like jim harbough, but the only question I have about him is on the defensive side. I have a good friend who played for him at uc san diego at safety. He has told me that he was a real good offensive minded coach and a good guy, but had nothing to do with the defense. I mean no interaction what so ever.

I would still take him in a heart beat over mangini

Yeah Shep Im with you...I dont hate Manghini but I dont love him too much

  • It would have to be Gruden, the chin well whats his name who failed so many times in pittsburgh can only win with a roster full of pro bowlers and even then he fails 9 out of ten times doing that

  • I chose gruden but holmgren or even ryan would most certainly suffice even though defensive minded coaches are wearing a bit thin on me at the moment..

  • Compeletly agree with Shep with the Harabough point hes gonna be good and runs excatly the same scheme we are looking for, what about Jeff Fisher anyone i think he'll be gone next year in Tennessee?

  • What is it about Gruden that you guys like?

Yea, he won a superbowl with the team Tony built but rather then stay a contender for the next 4 years after that he actually lost more and more games every season.

He did the exact opposite of what he was supposed to do in Tampa.

I hear you completely man. Holmgren has 161 wins under his belt as an NFL head coach and he is right under our noses, why not use him?
