So basically delete anything that Homotron posts.

I've really struck a cord with a percentage of this board and I love it. lol Floss that ego boys, floss that ego.

As far as the post is concerned I certainly respect certain players from that era and even the game. However winning Championships during that ERA was NOT like winning championships now. Do I think a few of the guys from those teams would translate to the NFL today? Absolutely but I'm not sure they'd be the Super Stars they were then now. Add in the fact that there were far less teams and the level of athleticism across the board was NOT the same. Yes there were great players but there were more not so great players that made those great players look much better. Rule changes, more physical play, etc, etc, etc. Winning a Championship now is much more difficult and therefore in my opinion more significant. When I've knocked the titles in the past it wasn't even because of my hatred for the Browns fan base. It was because I simply don't put the same amount of stock in those titles. I'd say the same thing to anyone from any fan base arguing their franchise success. It just wasn't/isn't the same. My two cents. Shower me with hate.

"3. You won in 3 the 50's, that wonderful era of segregation and discrimmination... where there was a quota on how many black players could play on a team. The best athletes weren't allowed to play. Bet you enjoy watching those films of Jim Brown running over and through a bunch of slow undersized white guys"

And see the above. Exactly what I'm talking about.

    Well. That's a little graphic.

Yes I've heard it all before, they wore leather helmets, the guys (ironically, wink, wink) were smaller (not true), there were less teams in the league, blah, blah, blah.

I posed this argument to a psudo-Steeler fan last night (born and raised in Virginia, what a shocker and admittedly became a fan February 6th, 2006) and I pose the same argument to him as I do to all fans who deny the Browns greatness. The Boston Celtics are considered the largest dynasty in basketball especially though the 60's. Yes they had 1 and 2 more teams during that time then the NFL did for most of those years. The Browns dynasty runs during the same time. Why are the Browns denied the same claim to fame? NEVER an answer.

The real question is what is the reasoning behind the denial of pre-Super Bowl greatness when all other sports teams are treated differently during the same era and under the same conditions?

Moderators please delete any non-constructive criticism from Steeler fans because you know there will be.

It must be tough for you seeing only the previous Super Bowl champs listed in the sports page come Super Bowl Sunday.

Four reasons why nobody cares about your stupid championships:

    1. The browns "championships" from the olden days are ignored is because of the "what have you done for me lately" syndrome. The browns have sucked for the most part of 40yrs. now, whereas teams like the Yanks, Celtics, and Packers have won championships before you were born, and in modern times as well. Therefore, their respective histories are recognized.

Believe me, should you Clowns ever win a SuperBowl, (which they wont) the media will surely expound on your so called "greatness" from the days of antiquity. Until then, you are no better than the other insignificant bottom feeders..Detroit, and Cincy.

    2. You won 4 championships in the AAFC, where records attained are not recognized by the NFL. LOL, the AAFC...a league with only 8 teams, in an era where teams like Pitt, Philly, and Chicago had to combine teams because of a shortage of men...a shortage of men because they were fighting in WWII. You should be really proud that your team felt winning lame championships were more important than serving your country.

    3. You won in 3 the 50's, that wonderful era of segregation and discrimination... where there was a quota on how many black players could play on a team. The best athletes weren't allowed to play. Bet you enjoy watching those films of Jim Brown running over and through a bunch of slow undersized white guys.

    4. Your trophy is too damn ugly.

    I hope that helps.

    When did WW2 finish?

  • Think about it. Past glory comes up most often when talking about a team's recent or current glory. That is the issue with the Browns. Another key issue is the building up of a core of key players that are there year in and year out. It will come in time once the team is turned around.

WWII ended on December 31, 1946. This guy is clearly a Retard.

Not you Kennel Club, I'm talking about the guy you quoted.

  • Formerly Stone said:

I don't understand how fact become Retardation just because you don't like the facts? Simply amazing........

The facts were incorrect. He said we won championships in the 50's because the players of other teams were participating in WWII. Newsflash. WWII ended on December 31, 1946. That fact proves his "fact" to be false.

What's graphic is that this site engages moderators who are so pussified by the truth and reality that they feel compelled, and are permitted to, modify posters original words and user names and present them as original real.

Some of you guys should really start to think about what that means.

awwww! that's unfortunate! maybe you should leave, I bet you will receive more hospitality on a Squealers' board.

By far the biggest whiny bitch on the board. YOU need to think about what it means.

  • Formerly Stone said:

In all seriousness, do you enjoy being a proud supporter of a board where fact is not allowed if it is not flattering, wild idiotic imagination is encouraged as long as it's about the hated rival, and the "leaders" of the site are some of the biggest whining bitches?

All of this in a city that could use any spark of class to improve it's image and a team who could use any spark of hope?

    Is that what you want?

if it encourages you to leave, then yes, that is what we want.

OMG, after school special. We can do it, yeaaaaaaaaaaa! No doubt this poster is gracing your walls as we speak.

Well, Ko, I don't think anyone sits around consciously trying to deny the Browns's greatness. I think it is just because the Browns's heyday was so long ago. People have such short memories and little regard for history in general. Yep, the Browns flat out owned the AAFC. The average fan today would say, "What is the AAFC?" To the average fan, 5 years ago is ancient history, so, what of things that happened in the 1950s? You know there was greatness there and I know there was greatness there, but to many today it may as well be the Civil War we are talking about. The modern era of the NFL began with the AFL-NFL merger and to many if not most football fans, there was only a gray fog before that. It is unfortunate but it is so. I don't think that dynasties in other sports are particularly given greater respect than the Browns during their dominant era. If that does happen, it may have something to do with Cleveland not being a major media market like NYC, Boston, etc.

When the Browns have some success, and I am the one who predicts a wild card in as little as two years if intelligent personnel decisions continue to be made and what is there already is not blown up but built upon, then there will be something that belongs to the present generation of fans. Each generation has to have its own history, mythology, and heroes.

None of em will be as tough as Gene Hickerson, though 😁
