With the 6th Pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns Select...

IMO, the best possible use of that draft choice would be if we could trade it for two lower first round picks. First you build the offensive and defensive lines, then assuming a decent QB is in place you add playmakers. Clearly we are thin on the DL and linebackers, and the right side of the OL is still a problem. While this team could use a dynamic WR that will not make the Browns a playoff team. Besides, rookie wide outs rarely have large impact their first season.

McShay had Nick Fairley going 2nd. Before Da'Quan Bowers.
I think McShay has officially proven himself a dumbass.

I'm the only one that went with the cornerback? Imagine have two shut-down corners ... instant pass rush, would completely change how teams can game-plan us. Shelly Brown is getting old, Wright had a horrible season and is a free agent ... we another corner, I don't mind if we address it early again.Zombo
I wouldnt be opposed, just dont think Peterson will be there. Prince prolly will and I would be okay with that but I would rather have AJ Green

I wouldn't be against this either. I think WR is the more pressing need but if we got a guy in FA that could fill the #1 WR role adequately I wouldn't be opposed to taking another corner.

I really think Cameron Heyward will slip into the second round or a top tier D lineman maybe even Clayborn will be a late first, first 2nd round selection i mean you see it every year Rey Mualaga or however you spell his name slipped and so did Clay Matthews a lil bit there will be one of those 6 in the second when we pick and we should grab them. We Grab Green if hes available or Fairley then take Broyles or Baldwin in the second ethier way that would work....THen get a decent RT in F/A we need to upgrade in F/A big this year

After the Sugar Bowl, no chance Heyward slips to the second. I see him going mid first round like Graham did last year. Now if we could trade down, pick up Heyward and Julio Jones, I'd be ecstatic. But that's draft fantasy, not real world.
And speaking of OSU- Arkansas, forget Mallet, assuming he comes out. Kid is DA II- with slightly better decision making. A big arm and ideal size does not an NFL quarterback make- he's deficient in virtually every other area. Like mobility, quick release, ability to check down, look off defenders, locks on to his primary target- you get the picture.
-
Mallet certainly has the arm, but in our TV room, the DA comparison was way earlier than his last int. His inability
to make quick short throws on the move was a killer in that game.
Whoever the Browns pick at six, he has to be a dominant difference-maker. If they can find
a number 1 wr in the second? It would be a dominant pass rusher. Or, ...
This is cool. We can now start arguing about the draft for 4 months ! Yay !

I agree 100% just hope some team jumps

If Luck is there its obvious. Who knows with the stupid combine in the mix. But I know for sure I don't want any tweeners that high. NO WAY! Too much risk. The stoolers get them in the 2nd and beyond every year.

Well, you could be right. Mallet could be DA II. Or he could be BRII.
On the other hand, if DA had played in Peetown and if BR played here DA may have been BR and BR may have been DA.
What Mallet seems to have that DA didn't have, but which BR does have is that ability to move in the pocket, to find receivers and shake off tacklers.

We can start now? I think we started a month ago, didn't we? π₯·

IMO the biggest need is obvious.......WR
I believe that jon baldwin will be the best pro. he has the best skill set to be a #1 receiver in cold weather cleveland
he is big and fast and catches everything
the only negative about him is that he apparently called out his coach for not throwing the ball enough......i would be upset if i knew i was the best player on the team and the coach wasnt doing enough to get the best player the ball too. in the NFL if he is the best WR then he will get the ball enough to be happy......and i think he will be

there are so many positional needs to address on this team it comes down to what is the most glaring weakness on the entire team not just offense or defense.
WR is IMO is the biggest need. then right side OL. then either DL or CB as zombo has suggested. i don't know where the good prospects lie in the draft and in what order we would have to take them BUT pleeeeeez shut up with the QB talk. we drafted one last year under holmgren's watch. what do we do, do a detroit lions and draft a WR every freakin year? c'mon this is the front office we trust to do the job are we or they going to second guess (in one year with little starts) your decision already? what does that show? that you don't know WTF you are doing?
you gotta build the team by getting rid of weaknesses and adding advantages. too little draft picks each year to keep drafting QB. what now we won't give colt a chance? sounds pretty familiar around here.

I personally think this is a fact. It's tough to cover your way out of getting torched by the great passing games because of the rules. Note the Jets running into Manning last year in the playoffs.
The key is to disrupt the pocket, bother the technician.
As far as having two corners picked in the top 10... uh, salary cap? Frankly, it's just horrible business to put that much cap in one area of the team. It would be absurd.
But if you believe McCoy is our man... then you have to go WR in round 1. Can't keep giving him second rate guys. The Browns need to pass the ball at a top 10-12 QBR with over 3,500 yards and 25 TDs to seriously compete. That's the league we live in.
