All wishful thinking. Just out of curiosity: Why is your screen name that of a British warship that got its ass kicked by the USS President during the War of 1812? :
On 14 January 1815, USS President under the command of Commodore Stephen Decatur left New York for a mission in the Indian Ocean. She then fell in with the British blockading-squadron, consisting of the razee Majestic (56 guns, Captain John Hayes) and the frigates Endymion (Captain Henry Hope), Pomone (38 guns, Captain John Richard Lumley) and Tenedos (38 guns, Captain Hyde Parker). Immediately, the British squadron gave chase with Majestic leading. At noon, Endymion, being the much better sailer, overhauled her squadron and left them behind. At 2 pm she gained on the President and shortly afterwards both ships exchanged broadsides, with President still trying to escape. Endymion was able to rake President three times and did considerable damage to her; by contrast, President primarily directed her fire at Endymion's rigging in order to slow her down. Finally at 7:30 pm, President shot away most of Endymion's foresails with chain shot; consequently, Endymion could no longer pursue.
At 11 pm Pomone and Tenedos came up with the heavily damaged President. Captain Decatur decided that further resistance was futile and hailed that his ship has surrendered. But the men on Pomone did not hear the hail and fired two broadsides into the President, which then hauled down a light to show the British that she had surrendered. Shortly afterwards, Captain Lumley of Pomone took possession of President.
According to British accounts, President had lost 35 men killed and 70 wounded, including Decatur. American sources give their losses as 24 killed and 55 wounded. Endymion had 11 killed and 14 wounded.[5] In 1847 the Admiralty authorized the issue to any still surviving crew from Endymion of the Naval General Service Medal with clasp "Endymion wh. President".
There has been a long-running debate over whether Endymion had beaten President, or President had beaten Endymion. Clearly, President could not fight a normal duel such as that which USS Constitution fought with Java. Had Decatur tried to fight Endymion broadside to broadside, he would have had little chance of escaping the other British ships. His only hope was to get rid of the Endymion by dismantling her rigging, and in this he was successful. On the other hand, Endymion - as the smaller and weaker ship (see below) - managed to slow down and damage the American frigate, pouring in three raking broadsides that caused heavy casualties.
There has also been much discussion about how many of the American casualties were due to Pomone's broadsides. Before Pomone fired her first broadside, President was already shattered with shot holes on the starboard-side, the side the Endymion had engaged. Pomone engaged the port side, and there was only little damage recorded. (See the external links, for two different descriptions of the fight.)

USC can't win the BCS. They are a bowl ban.
True, though a team can win an AP title, like USC did the year they shared the title with LSU. In my opinion the AP title is just as legit as the BCS title. Though, it is unlikely that a team that is banned from a bowl will even be given the AP title.

By the way, Las Vegas has gotten a hold of my questions and put their two cents in.
They say the favorite to win the Super Bowl is either the Pats or the Packers, both at 6-1 odds.
They say the favorite to have the worst season is the Bills and Panthers, both at 150-1 odds.
They say the favorite to win the BCS National Championship is the Oklahoma Sooners at 7-2 (next are Alabama and Florida State)
They say that the favorite to win the NFL MVP is Aaron Rodgers, (followed in order by Brady, Manning, Vick, Brees)
They didn't have a vote on the movie. They said it was too subjective of a subject.

The origin of Endymion dates further back than a british warship to Greek mythology. John Keats wrote a poem about the greek mythology, which was later used for inspiration on a modern sci-fi series know as Hyperion. I picked the name up from the modern sci-fi series as opposed to the other potential sources previously mentioned. However, I'd like to point out that your assertion that the Endymion lost the battle with the USS President is only one point of view, and the British claim the Endymion actually won the encounter. I would have to agree with the British account, because the USS President would have escaped had not the Endymion damaged it and prevented it's escape from the other two British warships.
As for my other picks, unlike your infamous clairvoyant, I've felt that Ben Roethlisberger would bring 3 more championships to the Steelers before he retires/moves on. The Steelers being a veteran team, don't need the off-season work-outs as much as many other clubs, so they are positioned to make another post-season run.
Personally, I'm not a fan of Pitt football so it's not wishful thinking on my part for them to win a BCS title. I would prefer Penn State to win the title. Pitt however has hired an excellent coach and the team is stocked with some talent. They have a cupcake schedule (8 of the 12 opponents this year). Their coach will likely rack up some points against the weaker opponents which will boost them in the poles. If they win the other 4 games to go 12-0, they'll be ranked at least 3rd (being in a weak NCAA conference). If one of the other powerhouse conference leaders fall, they are likely to sneak into the conference game as the no. 2 ranked team and if they get there I think their coach will lead them to victory. My guess is they'd play alabama for the title.
You might think I'm choosing your team to finish last because I'm a Pittsburgh fan, which is partially the case. I'm not sure Andrew Luck is going first overall. Somehow, someway, I feel Cleveland is going to get Luck and it's gonna reignite our rivalry as with him you will be competitors again.

From what I read, in their head to head tangle, it was the USS President that got the better of the matchup. It was the Endymion that got dismasted and broke off the engagement. Yes, it inflicted damage to the President, but it was the Endymion that retired. The problem for the President of course was that it was not a "fair" fight to begin with. It was a 4-1 matchup. The engagement with the Endymion slowed up the President, yes, which allowed the other 3 HMS ships to vulture their way into the battle. When Decatur saw that he was outmatched by the other 3 he tried to surrender, but, in my opinion, the British ships feigned that they didn't here the call for surrender and immorally wanted to inflict revenge on the President. Thus they fired on her when she was surrendering, killing Decatur.
And, I may want to try to pick up those sci-fi books from the library to see how they are. Any good?

I enjoyed them. The first one of the series won hugo award and the others were nominated for various sci-fi awards. There are 4 books in all. The first two are told mostly from a Canterbury Tales point of view (i.e. there are seven protagonists who tell their tales), though that is not maintained through the second book. The third and fourth books begin with a new protagonists, but the story is told (as I remember) only through the main character's point of view. The later books continue some of the story lines begun in the first two books. The later books are more predictable, or at least a few chapters in I knew how the story would ultimately end. But the journey was still quite interesting. Dan Simmons pretty much gets right to the action and didn't fool around with characters standing around contemplating thoughts.
