Has anyone seen these guys play?

The Cleveland Browns wasted no time in adding additional players on Tuesday, July 26 as regular operations began for NFL teams following the 4 ½ month lockout. Undrafted free agents have the unique luxury of being able to negotiate and sign with any team of their choice. While they may not have made a strong enough impact to be drafted, many remaining are still quality players that may end up filling key roles on their respective teams. Among the Browns' signings on day one are:

    QB Troy Weatherhead

Troy Weatherhead comes from NCAA Division II Hillsdale and served as the backup quarterback for the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League. With Colt McCoy(notes), Seneca Wallace(notes), and Jake Delhomme(notes) still on the roster, perhaps Weatherhead was picked up to fill a role on the practice squad.

    RB Donald Buckram

Donald Buckram of UTEP played his best season for the Miners in 2009 where he rushed for 1,594 yards scoring 18 touchdowns while receiving for 453 yards and 3 touchdowns. He should be an interesting player to follow during camp.

    WR Chris Matthews

University of Kentucky receiver hopes to make the squad this year after playing two seasons with the Wildcats. In 2010 he caught for 925 yards and scored nine touchdowns. His best game of 2010 was against the Florida Gators in which he had six receptions for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

    WR Juan Nunez

Western Michigan receiver Juan Nunez had his breakout year for the Broncos in 2010. He caught 91 passes for 1,032 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. His best game of the year was against the Akron Zips in which he caught six passes for 192 yards scoring three touchdowns.

    DL Kyle Anderson

Kyle Anderson joins the Browns from the Georgetown College Tigers.

    LB Brian Smith

Linebacker Brian Smith comes to the Browns from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

    LB Sidney Tarver

Sidney Tarver from the Tennessee State Tigers is a project linebacker with plenty of upside. While his college numbers are virtually non-existent, I will be curious to see how he performs in camp.

    LB Alex Wujciak

Alex Wujciak will be another linebacker to watch in camp. In three seasons with the Maryland Terrapins he recorded 354 tackles, two sacks, and four interceptions.

    CB Carl Gettis

Cornerback Carl Gettis joins the Browns after playing four years with the Missouri Tigers. In his four seasons he recorded 225 tackles with four interceptions.

    CB Jabari Fletcher

Another cornerback looking to find some playing time with the Browns is Jabari Fletcher from the Appalachian State Mountaineers. While he does not have high college numbers to back him up, in name alone he might be worth a follow for a week or two.

    CB James Dockery

Perhaps my favorite undrafted free agent signing was that of cornerback James Dockery of the Oregon State Beavers. While many thought he would sign with the St. Louis Rams Dockery tweeted from his twitter account (@JDOC4) "However my family and I have decided that STL is not the best fit for me! With that in Mind, I'll be taking my " Talents" to" and in his next tweet a few moments later, "The Cleveland Browns !!!!! Lets Go Dawg Pound..Thats Official!!!!" In three seasons with the Beavers he recorded 106 tackles with six interceptions.

    I don't know but Weatherhead is a shoe-in for the All-Name team.

It's funny because I wanted us to grab Wujciak with our last pick instead of Hagg. What I want to know is how did Dockery go undrafted? He had 4 INT's last season and has 4.45 speed and performed in a tough conference. Does he have injury concerns or something?

Wujciak and Dockery seem too good to be true to come as UDFA. What's the catch with them?

I think Wujciak is that he tore his ACL before his Freshmen season and he red shirted that year and then came out this year as a RS Junior, plus this was his first season he didn't have 100+ tackles (had 99). Still don't know about Dockery but I think it is injury concerns, some stuff I read was about him being used in a unit instead of being a full starter because of durability issues.
