The Browns Board

  • Here is this week's survey:

    1. With some credit to "Represent" how about giving the Browns "offseason" (of about a week now) a letter grade (instead of a ranking). A-F.

    2. From another thread. Rank the 5 most obnoxious fan bases in North American major sports?

    3. What is your favorite "bit" by a comedian ever?

    4. Which War do you study the most (or like to see movies about or whatever) assuming you have any inclination toward such things.

    5. Rank your top 5 movie villains.

The appropriate grade of course would be an I for incomplete, but since I have to commit to an answer from my own question I will say a C+

    2. From another thread. Rank the 5 most obnoxious fan bases in North American major sports?

    A. Red Sox fans, because after losing for so long, yet coming out winners, they forgot that they no longer had reason to whine, yet still whined anyway.

    B. Yankee fans, because of their belief that they have a god given right to win. No, they just have more money from being in by far the largest US Market.

    C. Steeler fans, because they can often be oh so ignorant of how lucky they really are. They have no clue to the fact that they could have easily had a team as bad as the Pirates.

    D. Laker fans. See Yankee fans for this. The Hollywood crowd performs figurative...and literal fellation on the Lakers.

    E. Cowboys fan. I would say that it is because they are from Texas....but it is not the Texas Cowboy fans that are obnoxious. It is all the FRAKs.

    3. What is your favorite "bit" by a comedian ever?

The ultimate classic is George Carlin's "the difference between Baseball and Football" routine.

Beyond that Jim Gaffigan's "bacon" rant is awfully good.

And a lot of stuff by Sam Kinison.

    4. Which War do you study the most (or like to see movies about or whatever) assuming you have any inclination toward such things.

The Revolutionary War is the one I have studied most and been to most sites.

    Second would be WWII.

I do enjoy going to Civil War sites, and there certainly are a lot of buffs out there, but I still prefer the Revolutionary.

WWI, to me always seems boring, and I don't know why.

    5. Rank your top 5 movie villains.

Very, very difficult because there are so many good bad guys. Actually this category is won hands down or should I say "Hans down" because of these guys:

    Hans Gruber of Die Hard

    Hans Landa or Inglorius Bastards.

And those "bad Germans" take a Trifecta with: Amon Goeth of Schindler's list.

Then of course there are the two ultimate villains:

Darth Vader and The Wicked Witch of the West.

  • 1. With some credit to "Represent" how about giving the Browns "offseason" (of about a week now) a letter grade (instead of a ranking). A-F.

B- I like the draft but they could have made a couple of key free agents signings. They had a lot of money to spend and didn't.

    2. From another thread. Rank the 5 most obnoxious fan bases in North American major sports?

    Buckeyes

    Red Sox

    Yankees

    Steelers

Buckeyes (I mention them twice because they annoy me more than any of the others)

    3. What is your favorite "bit" by a comedian ever?

    4. Which War do you study the most (or like to see movies about or whatever) assuming you have any inclination toward such things.

    World War II. Nothing compares

    5. Rank your top 5 movie villains.

    Hans Gruber, Die Hard

    The Joker, The Dark Knight

    Amon Goeth, Schindler's List

    Dr. Evil, Austin Powers

Voldemort, Harry Potter (Yup, I'm a big nerd).

  • Buckeyes

    Red Sox

    Yankees

    Steelers

Buckeyes (I mention them twice because they annoy me more than any of the others)

If you live in a state or city and you are not a fan of that city or state's team which has an ardent fan base you probably would think that fan base is obnoxious.

If you lived in Iowa you would probably think Iowa's fans were the most obnoxious. If you live in South Carolina, or Tennessee or Gainesville you would think those fan bases are obnoxious.

You live in Ohio. Deal with it. I am sure that I and other Buckeye fans are more than pleased to annoy you. If it is an issue for you, there are homes for rent in Dubuque! ❗

  • But Kevin James is right on. I get those kind of messages here at the office all the fricking time. People just ramble on about their issues, then speed talk over their phone number. I try to make it a point of saying my number slowly, then repeating it whenever I have to leave a message because I get so many on these Yumpin Yidiots.

  • Two Giants together:

  • 1. With some credit to "Represent" how about giving the Browns "offseason" (of about a week now) a letter grade (instead of a ranking). A-F.

I'll say a C+. Would be higher because I like what we've done and the potential it could have, but we've put a lot of our eggs in the baskets of unproven players. Could backfire, but I still like what we've done.

    2. From another thread. Rank the 5 most obnoxious fan bases in North American major sports?

    Virginia Tech Hokies

    New York Yankees

    Pittsburgh Steelers

    Los Angeles Lakers

    Dallas Cowboys

    3. What is your favorite "bit" by a comedian ever?

Anything Patton Oswalt and Lewis Black have ever done. Warning: If you find yourself inclined to preview some of their work, it is full of dirty words haha.

    4. Which War do you study the most (or like to see movies about or whatever) assuming you have any inclination toward such things.

As a History Major in college and having studied every American War extensively I have to give the edge to Vietnam. Not only was it a major war for the US, it also was very interesting back home during the time. Pro-War, Anti-War, hippies, Civil Rights, Communism, etc. It all lined up at the same time and made this war very interesting. Not only for the war and the battles themselves, but the home front was just as interesting.

    5. Rank your top 5 movie villains.

    Darth Vader

The Joker from The Dark Knight

    Ghostface of the Scream films

    Voldemort

Khan Noonien Singh (or more commonly known as KHAAAAAANNNNNN)

It wasn't quite as interesting if you were in line to be drafted and ultimately shot at. Trust me on this.

This is a loaded question. All that I can say is that you guys should publicly flog any Browns fan that does not respond "Steelers" as the "most" obnoxious fan base in the universe. (Que the cheerleaders) "We're NO. #1!!!"

So? You are admitting it? You know, you could just as easily answer "Browns fans" if you wish. Ain't nothin' stoppin' ya. Also, you could answer the other questions. That is, if you have any opinions. These are meant for fun and entertainment.
