Sources: Terrell Owens had surgery
By Chris Mortensen
Terrell Owens, who has placed himself among the NFL's all-time leading receivers with plans to play a 16th season, has undergone surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees following a previously undisclosed injury this offseason, according to sources familiar with the injury.
NEXT LEVEL: Owens a Deep Threat
Although playing in his 15th NFL season, Terrell Owens led the Bengals in targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns on passes 15 yards or more downfield in 2011. His 14 touchdowns on those throws since 2008 are tied for the most in the league in that span.
Receiving 15+ yards downfield, 2011
Owens Other Bengals Targets 52 61 Yards 471 686 Touchdowns* 5 3 *14 TD since 2008, T-most in NFL powered by

Owens, 37, was unavailable for comment but sources said the surgery by noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews occurred within the past month.
One source said Owens was hurt while on site taping a television show for VH1.
Another source said Owens tore the ACL during a personal workout but other sources could not confirm the cause of injury. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, also was unavailable for comment Sunday evening. His brother and partner in the agent business, Jason Rosenhaus, said, "I don't like to deny stories or confirm or deny anything. It's really something for Drew (to address)."
Rosenhaus issued a denial to an ESPN inquiry last month about Owens' injury. Other sources close to Owens ignored specific inquiries Sunday night.
Owens has never made reference to an ACL injury on Twitter, where he has an active account.
Owens' 2010 season for the Cincinnati Bengals came to an end when he tore meniscus cartilage in his left knee Dec. 19 against the Cleveland Browns in week 14. Dr. Andrews surgically repaired Owens' meniscus on Dec. 20.
Sources said while Owens did tear an ACL with the new injury, he suffered no other damage to the knee in question and with intensive rehab he conceivably could return within six months, or around mid-to-late November, in a best-case scenario.
Mike and Mike in the Morning
ESPN NFL Insiders Herm Edwards and Chris Mortensen talk about Terrell Owens' injury, his pending rehab, and when and where he will play this season. Plus, a labor update.
Owens has said he intended to play a 16th season in 2011 after catching 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns for the Bengals, who signed him to a one-year, $2-million contract last year. He will be a free agent when the NFL lockout ends but his injury status clearly places his season, and perhaps his career, in question.
Career-wise, Owens ranks behind only Jerry Rice in all-time receiving yardage and is third behind Rice and Randy Moss in receiving touchdowns.

That doesn't tell me anything other then that he wants to play this season. Last I had heard he wouldn't be ready till mid season. I don't think he will help us by then. I am still in the thinking to see what we have w these guys. I am pretty much ready to give up on ROBO, but I still think Little has a ton of potential ... Mitchell, and Norwood are relative unknowns and Cribbs has been getting better. TO wont make us a playoff team so why stunt the growth of the kids??? if nothing else atleast we will know what we have going into the draft/FA next yr and go from there.

Wow.....now everbody is jumping on the wagon to add a WR. Beginning of the year I argued along with WRREBEL that our wr core sucked and how pissed i was we didnt add any playmakers to our WR core. You guys really amaze me.
WTF are you talking about? Just because you "argued" with one guy? There are a 1000 other guys on here that agreed that we could use help at WR.
Either wake up, or grow up.

Do Your Research. My first post on this site was about Free Agents. Go back to that thread and read all the disagrements I recieved when i made that post. 90% of the replies were against adding a FA playmaker and were about "building through the draft"
Soooo didn't argue with just one guy...it was the majority soo you wake up and smell the coffee
Gotta get back to work some of you guys are unreal and do not pay attention n run off at the mouth..quit amuzing

For everyones information jake and I did argue many times in many different threads about needing a play maker wrs.
Funny thing is this is the same shit that happened last year when I said we needed someone..
Really??? Crickets again?????
I can give u the standard repsonse from most users when we said we wanted them to sign somone..
"We don't need terrel owens or randy moss"
This is what at least 15 people on here mentioned when jake and I brought it up. Yet we never mentioned to or randy moss..
All the people who baught the kool aid on the front office. I'm afraid to say heckert is a Retarded jew. It doesn't take a football guru to tell our wrs are slow.
Now its pretty much too late... so here to hoping robiske cuts a second off his 40 time!

who gives a FXXK? what do you want a medal or a chest to pin it on?
we've got a lot more problems at the OL. wouldn't it be great if mccoy could just sit in the pocket all day long like brady does?
-
Lmao...yeah, one over-the-hill WR is gonna help a beat up OL, a jittery QB, and a shitty coach. Great plan!!

Actually, YES, it just might help. Will it solve all the problems of the universe? No. But it might help some.
It's like, if you owe someone $10,000.00 and you find a hundred bucks. It helps, but it don't pay off your 10K debt.

I don't want money, and I don't want medals. What I do want is for you to stand there in that faggoty white uniform and with your Harvard mouth extend me some f#cking courtesy. You gotta ask me nicely.
actually we argued about the right side of the line needing to be addressed. But Jewboy heckert loved Pashos...

Jewboy? Now were gonna bitch about Jews too? I can't keep all this straight.
What's everyone going to complain about after a win on Sunday ?

after a win on Sunday ?
let's hope you're right. it might make people like me STFU.

If we can't beat the manning less colts we may not win a game all year.
It is time lerner hired me.. I could do a better job.
First thing I would do is get rid of holmgren and heckert. I could hire tons of fluffers for everyone with the money were paying them.
I have built championship teams in madden for a decade and I'm always under the salary cap..

Listen mel gibson is making a movie about a jewish hero and it isn't about tom heckert...

Yes, the title of this thread is intended to rile a bit, but honestly, the Browns need a WR who has experience in the North/West Coast Offense, who can provide leadership to a young WR corps, and who can get separation from DBs. T.O. proved he can still do that last year. The only part of the equation above that is an obvious concern is the "provide leadership" part. Yes, we could use him as a receiver, but no, we don't need him to be teaching primadonna behavior to the likes of Greg Little. But I think it might be worth the risk to sign him up. They can release Robo and give his wasted spot on the roster to Owens.

i wanted to go after Vincent Jackson. So would i want TO? Hell yes.
Imagine the spark he would provide to the lockeroom. Who would be a bigger spark- TO or Robo? Please don't give me the youth argument. Robo is taking up a roster spot until next year- same as TO would be.
Prima Donna? Maybe once. But anyone willing to play for the Bills and the Bengals is welcome to join my team. i like it. He's a winner, same as Colt.

the guy is a dick BUT he does keep himself in phenomenal shape (when healthy). if he can play cut robo and sign him.
let's just hope that cinci's defense is better than a lot that we'll see this year or else no one will be catching any passes except a screen pass or last week's fave: the 2 yard down and out.

You should start sending your resume out to all NFL teams looking for a GM job. I'm sure they're looking for someone who's only claim to anything is the ability to build a winning team on a video game.

Weird, I thought the same thing. Shockingly I haven't got one call back from one nfl team. I guess since I'm not a jew I get passed over.
I have other things besides just my video game skills. I got an a in my bowling class.

It helps more than Robo who is like an old crusty penny laying in the gutter.
