I really think Carlton Mitchell can be great saw him at USF, and one of his former team mates at USF works for me, he tells me Mitchell could be an all-pro WR, but he is very soft, and never plays hurt. Said hes a pretty boy who does not like to get dirty!!!! He said its a shame cause he has all the tools!!!

My employee also was one of the Wide-outs that was on jon Grudens show with Pryor, he said in all 4 yrs he played Collage football, he never seen anything like Pryor on how big and fast he is and his arm strenth. He was amazed..Granted How many QBs did he face like Pryor at USF the past 4 yrs

    Are you guys crazy? NOBODY-IS-TRADING-THE-NUMBER-ONE-PICK-OF-THE-DRAFT.

Do I have to repeat myself?

NO ONE is passing on Andrew Luck. (I personally believe his last name has something to do with it. People actually probably believe this kid will bring good "Luck" to their team if they draft him... 🙄 )

We are going to end up 6-10 and end up using BOTH of our first round draft picks. And NO, we aren't going to trade up for the number 1 slot. NOBODY is that stupid to do it---unless we give up BOTH 1st rounders this, and NEXT year's #1 AND HILLIS. You'd be a fool to make that trade.

you're being pretty naive man, I mean think about it as of right now. What teams if the season ended today would draft above us: rams, dolphins, seahawks, vikings, colts, chiefs, broncos, jags, panthers, cardinals and eagles. Of all those teams, the only ones who don't a QB in the wings is the dolphins, seahawks and colts. If any of those other teams fall to the top spot, they'd be more than willing to drop down 9-10 spots and get another first and i'm sure a second for luck. Don't just assume things.

You're kidding, right? Of those teams, the only ones on your list who wouldn't draft Luck would be the Panthers & Rams. The other teams would eventually trade their starters- or starters in waiting- for draft picks, and take Luck. Denver would gladly unload Orton for whatever they could get.

And Luck is a special case- you can probably throw the draft value chart out the window. For instance if the Browns were drafting in the 9-10 range, even value says it would take both our first rounders, plus a first rounder in 2013. and that's minimum- you'd probably have to throw in a player like Cribbs or Hillis on top of it before a team would bite. Let's look at it from a historical perspective- when's the last time the #1 overall got traded? I can't remember- and the reason is obvious- it costs too much to move up into that slot.

  • i dont understand how people say we have two outstanding drafts in a row.. Why cause we didnt blow our first and second rd picks??

tell me what have we done in later rounds??? larry asante, clifton geathers, jordan cameron, carlton mitchel???

guys we need to start hitting on rds 4-7 if we want to build through the draft..

McCoy, Lauvao, Pinkston, Skrine is what. Yeah- I threw in a third rounder- not bad for a starting quarterback- but really finding starters in rounds four and below doesn't happen often, take a look at the last five or so drafts and you'll see maybe one or two guys from each round that have stuck with teams and actually made an impact.

Do you really think that the jags, vikings, broncos, cardinals (who traded many picks for kolb) or otherwise went 1st round QB would just throw that out the window and start over? I mean i'm not saying i'm right here, but I find it hard to believe that despite the talent people would just give up on their guys they picked that quickly. I actually agree now that I think about it that denver would probably take him, and possibly the chiefs.

You're right, it's never been done before. But that doesn't mean it won't be done in the future. This has been a wacky year. Several teams with first round rookie QB's and solid starters are in the cellar right now. and if I recall correctly, Holmgren did at least put in a call about doing it for bradford a few years ago.

Mel Kiper said that the only player he has ever given a higher rating to in over 30 years of doing his draft analysis than Andrew Luck was John Elway.

Is it just coincidence that they were both Stanford QBs?

  • I do believe Minnesota or Indy has the lock on Luck. But like I said before it could still happen.

    Blackmon for 2012!

Despite what you say, many, many people give credence to his opinions, including who knows how many people in positions of authority on NFL teams.

But I guess that begs the question: Do YOU think he is being a buffoon by rating Luck the highest rated player to come into the draft in nearly 30 years?

You're right, a lot of ESPN sheeples love that douche. I personally, do not like much with ESPN or BSPN as I call it. I prefer to make my own opinions and do my own research instead of regurgitate the crap that hype up. No disrespect to those that like ESPN but I can't stand talking to guys at work who just repeat what they hear on that network and never even watch the game.

But yes, Luck should be #1 overall. I'm just bitter he gets to do a job that any of us on this forum could do. But still, I know a lot more people who don't like Kiper than do.

kiper gets tunnel vision really easily...only sees potential, doesn't see busts coming at all. its all or nothing with this guy, and is only doing what he does cause he made one bold prediction years ago that panned out. since....not much really.

mayock hits way more...has much better analysis, better explanations, better understanding of what it takes to succeed in this league.

I guess we shall see. Again, I don't think I'm automatically right but it just depends how much confidence those teams have in their rookie QB's. I mean Gabbert hasn't looked that bad at all so far, and Ponder will get a chance here sooner than later. I mean I do agree that it seems like Luck is a rare talent. That's why it's fairly foolish to even think about this stuff right now. Hey, let's hope Colt and the Browns turn around and don't have to even worry about it right?

Personally, I don't think anyone in a position of authority in the NFL gives a rat what Kiper thinks.

Considering everyone and his uncle has Luck as the lead pipe lock #1 pick, isn't exactly Rocket Science to go with the flow.

And "The Hair" has touted some massive round one blunders in his day to boot.
