Lastly, everyone on this forum complains how the Browns never sign any free-agents. dawg

I tend to agree with you, but the above statement is completely without merit. It's false.
I have never complained about the Browns not signing free agents. There are plenty of others who haven't.

I feel like this is common sense but apparently not so I'm going to help out those of you that are a little bit slow. As Dennis Green once said, "You play to win the game!" With a team like the Browns that have a culture of losing, the team has to LEARN HOW TO WIN. EVERY win, even against the lowly Colts, Dolphins, Rams, Jags, etc. is a motivator for them. Just watch the post game press conferences of some of the players like Greg Little. You can actually see the excitement they have for what is happening with the team. Losing breeds losers. Winning bread winners. Enough said. As far as the draft goes, the browns may have dropped a few spots but that's irrelevant. It's not where you draft, it's how you draft and I think most of us would agree Heckert/Holmgren have done a much improved job with this the last 2 years. Lastly, everyone on this forum complains how the Browns never sign any free-agents. Do you know why that is? It's because players don't want to go to teams that lose. A 8-8 Cleveland Browns team is a lot more appealing than one that is 5-11, 4-12, 3-13. Need I continue? Whether those few wins make a difference in the playoffs means nothing. You have to win to win as stupid as that sounds.

It was Herm Edwards that said the play to win the game thing. Secondly, I covered what you said about players wanting to play for winning teams in several posts months prior. However still a spot on post.

I think that is a Herm Edwards quote not Dennis Green.
I too was not upset about not signing free agents. I am 100% on board with building through the draft and adding some complimentary free agents when we have a nice core in place. I would say you are pretty accurate though saying the majority of people (atleast on this forum) were upset about not signing people.

dennis greene was "they are who we thought they were!"
anyway, there's a rather small minority that would not come here cause they didn't want to compared to players that would chasing the almighty dollar. the problem is, our management chose not to offer up the big bucks while building a core. not a bad idea....considering we have 2 first rounders next draft.
a few FAs would help win a bit, but they werent gonna put us over the top. we have a long way to go building this roster before we can consistently compete. lets just hope heckert does better in the next 2 drafts or we're fucked again.

The Chargers didnt have confidence in Brees after his disaster injury and dropped his salary by more than 10 mil. He felt blessed to have the opportunity to work with Peyton and the Saints. You're taking an obviously isolated incident to support your straw argument. Yes, free agents care about the money, of course they do. They also take into consideration whether they will see playing time and the team's record.

Start naming top FAs that went to bottom feeders, and tell me how many Super Bowls they were eventually responsible for. My off the top of the head guess would be about none.
Sorry, as was previously stated, Brees was damaged goods. The Broncos took a chance on Courtney "crip" Brown- tell me how that one worked out.
FWIW, Wright would look a damnsite better on the Browns if he had Suh & Fairley tearing qbs heads off in front of him too.

I can name plenty of players who went to bad teams and have helped them turn the corner. Of course it is never alone but they are part of the puzzle
Lets see how Carlos Rodgers has gone to the 49ers and helped there defense. They also added Dante Whitner
Uhmm oh yeah Johnathan Joseph has been money for those Texans, who have gone from the worst pass D to one of the best.
Im just naming this year, but there is a long list of players..
Again, nfl free agents sign for a couple of reasons.. First and for most Money.. I would say the 2nd and 3rd reasons are geographical location and playing for former coaches..
Than you have the aging Vet who wants to win a championship..
The Browns can sign players, just choose not to..
so go eat a dick

Ya I was mistaken on the quote, you are right it was Herm Edwards. I may have exagerated that EVERYONE wants free agents, but you do have to admit there are a lot of posts that beg for the Browns to sign free-agents (Terrell Owens, DeSean Jackson). The Browns do pass on some free agents I agree and Holmgren did say at the beginning of this season that he was happy with our roster. But in general I still believe players want to win because most can get the same money pretty much anywhere.

Hey 'Tard- go backtrack and look up my posts where I said Joseph was the ONLY FA worth going after. Carlos Rodgers, CB = age = 30 great choice for a rebuilding team. Two years= Sheldon Brown- got it?
Of course you got your nose so far up every potential FAs butt, you can't see clearly anymore.
-
Yet, we have signed fa's in the past, but some were just bad choices, most on the downhill of their careers.
Signing (the appropriate) fa's is a PLUS to SOLID DRAFTING.
That is happening now. Things are looking bigtime upwards.
Unless, that is, if you are a prissy, crabby, belittling to everyone whining and whining and whining about the past because you reek squeeler worhipper.....
because you can feel like a huge private part after always bragging on their steriod stuper bowls....

It is a fallacy that FA's refuse to come to Cleveland because the team stinks.
It is the losing culture, management, core values, attitude and style of franchise that makes Cleveland a no-no for top FAs.
Doing shit like taking Gerrard Warren II instead of Julio Jones, to every intelligent football thinker in the world was a first class blunder that has EVERYONE scratchign their heads wondering, WTF is wrong with those guys?
We pass on Big Ben, but we make extra sacrifices for Winsblow. We make sacrifices to draft Brady Flop, we have no running game, no playmakers, and are $23 million under teh cap.
Who in their right fkucking mind would want to tie their career to a shit franchise who continues to make idiotic choices?
Seriously? If I had a kid going into the NFL draft, I would let Cleveland know that my kid would sit out a year before coming to play for them. My kid would tell them he will not play in Cleveland.
ON EXCEPTION............... if my kid was a big, slow, non-talented lardass, fatass offensive lineman, I would encourage him to play in Cleveland because he could get paid higher than a QB.
Julio Jones is nothing more that Braylon Edwards revisited, i.e., the production will not be up to the potential. I don't have a problem getting the trade we got for him. With that extra draft pick we got from Atlanta, I think the Browns will get a real playmaker, whether O or D....one that will be far more productive than Julio Jones will ever be.
