    We have drafted 1st,3rd,5th,6th,7th... etc.

It's not where you draft, it's how you draft.

Somehow the Steelers have found impact players without worrying where they draft every year.

Win every week at all costs.

EXACTLLY CORRECT A higher draft isn't a guarantee of getting a good player. Think Courtny Brown, Gerrard Warren, Tim Couch.............. They were all top 5 picks and they all sucked

Yup, the Steelers have had relatively low picks because they were good. Care to see what they did? Pola-mumu 16th, Timmons 15th, Hampton 19th, Mendenhall 22nd, Woodley 46th second round, Wallace third round, Harrison- undrafted.

Aaron Rodgers slid down to the 20 or so pick, Dan Marino was the last player taken in the first round.

Notice a trend there? IMHO finally with Heckert calling the shots and an eye for talent, we may catch up- but it probably will take another year or two. So don't go crying over a few lost draft spots.

And in case you didn't notice with TWO first round picks, the Browns certainly have the ammunition to move up in the first round, should they choose to do so.

Like you said, how many times have the Browns drafted in the top five over the last 12 years, and totally blown the pick?

  • It IS comforting that the Browns now have folks conducting the draft who actually KNOW talent. We'll be ok.

    Mike

  • 4-6 team with building confidence from all aspects of the franchise. Two fluke plays away from being 6-4. This is prob the same tool that cheered every game the cavs lost to get James how'd that work?

U want my opinion Browns 21-Bungles 18. I want to draft behind atlanta's spot!

its called pride. are telling me that if we somehow pull off a miraculous win against the steelers your gonna bitch about losing a couple draft spots?

Key words are PRIDE & CONFIDENCE. I like the pride these young men are showing & they need wins for confidence. With the kind of pride these players are showing, we'll be ok. They just never quit. The draft will be what it will be, but I sure won't hope for any losses.

Yea I must admit to some part of me wanting close losses for the draft pick (I reallly want Blackmon), but our fans and players need these wins. It really is about pride (and lack of embarrassment) and building a tradition of winning. To look at Colt's face toward the end of the game (and Dawson and Haden etc..) they reallllly needed this win for confidence and just competitiveness. It wasn't pretty, but Im worried about our team losing confidence and faith in themselves and teammates, so it was great to see the win...

  • Soju,you ignorant Slut!!!!!

You dont drop games to better your draft position. Thats a total loser mentality. I for one do not except or prescribe that kind of strategy.

It doesn't matter what little PRIDE & CONFIDENCE was manufactured last Sunday against the crap Jags, we come back to reality against Balt. and Pitt these final games, and in the end no confidence was created, only a hollow win that damamges our draft pick in the 1st round.

Look at who we beat--Dolphins, Colts, Jags and Seahags--you get "confident" from those wins?

    Get real!

Now, if these wins were against San Fran, Houston, Tenn. and Oakland then HELL YA! I'd be thrilled we won last Sunday!

    You guys aren't very smart.

  • I wonder if the Packer fans are happy about there wins since they only beat the Panthers, Vikings 2x, Tampa, Chargers, Denver. I mean shit They really only took down the Bears before they became good, the Saints in the first game of the yr, and "if" Ingram does not get stopped at the 1 yrd line they lose. I mean they beat the Falcons, but they are not that good. So if you look at the Packers just are not that good because they have not played anybody good...

I wonder if the 49er fans are happy about there wins, I mean they played the Browns, Bucs, Seahawks, Eagles, Redskins, and Cardinals. I mean really there only good win was against the Lions, and they are not that good.

God Glad I am not a Texan fan, I mean they really have not beat anybody either. 6 of there 7 wins are against teams with losing records!!!

Get my point, who cares who we beat!!! a win is a win. I am sure all three of these fan bases are not upset that tehy have beat these "so called" shitty teams

You beat the teams you're supposed to beat. If you had aspirations of the Browns being a playoff team this year, YOU'RE not very smart. They were a defensive brain fart away from beating the Bengals, and a missed FG away from beating the Rams. Then you'd really be whining about the botched draft position @ 6-4.

I've done it before, but I guess I'll have to do it again- it's not where you draft, its how you draft. That Browns have monumentally blown their first round picks, as a general rule until Heckert showed up is why they have sucked. Rahim Abdullah or Lamarr Woodley in the second- ya see? And complete garbage in rounds lower than that.

Here's a short synopsis, as I'm not going to go through every "Draft of Sorrow".

1999 Couch or Edgerrin James, Ricky Williams, Torrey Holt, Champ Bailey.

2000 Courtney Brown or Jamaal Lewis, Brian Urlacher

2001 This one really hurts- Spare Change Warren, or eventual Hall of Famers LaDanian Tomlinson, Richard Seymour.

2004 Kneivel Winslow or Ben Rothlisberger and throwing away a second round pick to do so on top of it. 🙁

2005 Braylon Edwards or Aaron Rodgers

2006 Yet another gem swapping places with the Ratbirds we took journeyman Kameron Wimbley- they took Pro bowler Haloti Ngata

I'm going to stop there, but with 20\20 hindsight, I can go through virtually every draft, and find you better talent lower in the draft with maybe two exceptions- with the Joe Thomas and Joe Haden picks, the Browns finally got BPA at those slots. (And even then, the pick we gave Dallas to get busto Quinn could have been Mendenhall or Chris Johnson the following year). That in a nutshell dear Soju is why the Browns have sucked, and why losing a few draft slots isn't the end of the world.

this comment coming from you is comedy gold and irony at its finest!

    😆

    i love this board sometimes....

  • Atleast a few of you are happy about this loss, what has this world come to?

Fire the coach, trade are best players, lose games for a better draft pick???

Albert Einstein once said "Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions."
