Wow, one bad game....way to stay classy Cleveland.

more than one bad game. remember the end of the rams game?
Remember how Alex Mack stuck his foot in front of the snap? Oh yeah.
Not his fault.

One bad game? We are 6-5 if he could snap the damn ball. Don't know what happened to him. Kinda like when Steve Sax couldn't through to first base or Steve Blass couldn't throw a strike to save his life ... it becomes mental.

Not sure if the 2 losses are his fault, one hits Macks foot and the other is still a 55 yarder into the wind with about 2 mins left in the game.

Sad, there must have been other problems with him to make this unfixable.

Ok I like Pontbriand and feel for the guy, but he has 1 job to do and has failed at it this year. I'm sure we can find another guy to hike a freaking ball.

And the scapegoating begins.
Here here.
It is the special teams coach who should have been canned. Far more egregious than those 1 or 2 bad snaps has been the the fact that these special teams have been playing like children wandering in the wilderness.
-
Surely you can't be putting the blame on anybody hired by Holmgren?
That's blasphemy, kind sir. Blasphemy.

Agree with this. Dawson is good, but 55 yards into the wind is no gimme kick.
Also agree with the person who mentioned scapegoating.
Special teams in general have been poor this year. People are wondering if Cribbs has lost a step, I wonder if maybe we just aren't opening many holes for him on the kick returns.

sad to see him go ..... but considering he is not an impact player .... meh !! im sure he will find a job in no time.

It was more than just one bad game. Watch the games close and see how off he's been on his snaps. Maynard saved him at least once on a punt on Sunday and on two other FG or extra point snaps.
He's been all over the place all season.
Thanks for the good years....good luck with your new team.

What does 55 yards into the wind have to do with anything? That effects dawson, not the snapper. And when the snaps bad, Dawson has no chance......
1st Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU 3rd Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State4th Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma5th Earl Wolff, S, N.C. State6th Lucas Reed, TE, New Mexico -

I agree.
Ponti's snaps have been off.....punts snaps have been all over the place, but this still stinks of a regime looking to mitigate the record.
How about changing some coaches after the season??
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. -
I haven't been too big on the new coaching staff, but I do like this move. Pontbriands only job was to get the ball to the holder, making this move should set an example. When your only task is to get the ball to the holder, and you can't do it, you're gone. I am sure being a longsnapper is no walk in the park, but it also ain't like being say, a quarterback, or receiver.

A solid point.
Let's hope the next guy doesn't snap it 10 yards over people heads.

No, it's pretty easy being a longsnapper. It's like being a bullpen catcher.
