Qb Situation And The Offense=Draft
-
There is a world of difference between the way Colt played last year and the way he is playing this year. No rookie QB can regress this rapidly in the NFL unless the coaching was bad. I think the problem lies deeper than McCoy. Who ever is coaching him is doing a bad job and the chances are if the same guy is coaching our Ist Round Draft Pick QB, There is a 99 % chance that the new guy may also suck.

Sentiment has no place in football. McCoy is not Dellehome, we didn't drafte him to sit on the bench. There are better avaulable veteran QBs who can be effective back-ups who cost a fraction of what Colt does. WOuld COlt renegotiate his contract down to $400K? Thats the price for a back up.
If not, cut him now.
Hey genius, Colt is making 405K this year and will only make 490K in 2012. 2013 is the year his contract jumps up to 1 million. He will be on the Cleveland Browns next year unless some other team gives us a ridiculous trade offer. And vetern backup QBs do make good money. Seneca Wallace is making 3 million a year and Denis Dixon is making 1.2 million a year as a 3rd stringer for the Steelers.
How about using actual facts next time before you make a bigger fool of yourself..

If he is making 400K, I would keep him. He is good enough to play .500 ball against the worst teams in the NFL.
He hasn't beaten a team with a winning record this year, and he won't.
Not with this roster. Come on, you know as well as anyone here that our starters are pretty much backups in most of the teams, so unless we are blowing big time money let us not chastise them. If there is anyone I have a problem with, it is the axis of evil (holmgren, heckert, Lerner) !

Funny, isn't it? Without knowing what his agent negotiated, I correctly determined his net worth. This is why I could successfully run an NFL franchise and you could sell popcorn.
You correctly guessed what a 3rd round draft pick makes in a year? You must be psychic! I'm sure Lerner will soon have you on speed dial

I think RDE and WR need to be addressed before QB. There's alot of very talented quarterbacks coming out this year. If we snag one around the 4th to compete, it would make more since. If we have to draft ANOTHER first round quarterback, we need to have him come into the perfect situation because we absolutely cannot afford to miss on yet another. And right now were far from ideal.

I'm not sold on colt as the guy either but its hard to get a gage of how bad he is with his surrounding cast..
I tell you what he is no blaine gabbert

Unless our WRS could dunk in the NFL Colt McCoy throws passes so high and most often behind our recievers its a joke, I'll say it's harder to evalute Greg Little than it is McCoy i have every game on DVR i watched em all and i'll be dead honest with you... McCoy and the Play calling both suck here is an interesting fact out of every game only 3 passes have hit our WRS in the numbers everything else has been off target WAY off of acceptable.
Last year Colt had the White Rhino to take alot of that pressure off and this year we see how that's working out and without the ground and pound we have to expect McCoy to pass in the WCO and well HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM.
-
I wonder if Colt just isn't throwing a catchable ball. Little had no problem with that pass from Seneca yesterday.
-
If the Browns were smart, which we all know they aren't, they would spend their two first round picks on Baylor players Robert Griffen III and Kendall Wright.
-
There are a lot of things wrong right now. Our offensive scheme sucks worse than it did last year. Did anyone see the points Miami put up against a much better Raiders team ala Daboll.
We lead the league in dropped passes. You can't do that. So all the blame can't be on Colt.
However Colt is making just as many bad passes too, behind players, not enough juice on 'em. He had one almost picked off because the ball was too long in the air on a 10 yard pass. His passes are being knocked down way to much. He has started to show some decent strength, but can he throw that 30 yard frozen rope when needed? Does he have the confidence to throw through the eye of a needle?
But I do look at coaching. I think Shurmur looks to be over his head. Hillis is looking decent, but how many catches from the backfield did he have...One.. and look what happened.
Our biggest problem is coaching right now and utilizing players correctly. I hear Shurmur and read what he says, but when game day comes around, it's the same crap.
Our next biggest problem is Colt. I hate to say it, but I just don't think he has the build to play QB in the offense we are trying to create... However, if they built the offense around his ability to move and scramble a litle more, than maybe, just maybe, he might work out... But there are still some physical traits I don't like. Some of his passes look odd coming out of his hand (and people complain about Tebow)... I don't know.. I think he is too short, and doesn't have the arm that we need.

It's going to be hard to pick RG3 when he's not coming out this year.
If you were smart, which we all know you're not, you would have known that.

if you are blaming the QB for the offense then you're lookin in the wrong direction
normally im all about the offensive line but when steinbach comes back it should be alright as long as they address the other tackle position
first and foremost the browns need a WR. justin blackmon or alshon jeffries should be available and either would turn the browns WR corps around immediately
look at what green is doing for cincy.....blackmon and jeffries are better than aj green and the browns line should be better than the bengals line next year
draft a WR and a tackle and solve the problems on offense

If we had both right now today and in prime form, i would bet the browns could not consistently put up 14+ on any NFL team with the offense we run.
Best case scenerio our wide recievers catch the 3 yard pass instead of dropping it, and we still punt because we needed 8 yards for the first down.

Why do you think Ghoolie moved to Memphis? It is the birthplace of the KKK. Him and old Bedford Forrest were tight.

The Browns really cannot miss on this draft.
We could draft a CB and a pass rusher LB and be pretty much set for defense. (one more DE eventually but its not a serious issue, Sheard and Taylor have been clutch)
Or we could draft any combo of WR/RT/RB and have our offense greatly improved.
Good teams build up around mediocre QBs (see : Tommy Maddox and the Steelers) and then get the good QB, not throw a good QB in the line of fire.

Wtf are you talking about? Why are you so confident he doesn't come out? NO PLAYER (excepts freshman/seniors ovbiously) have publically stated whether they are entering the draft or not! Now who's stupid.

I just don't think people understand the scope of what i am saying... i mean i HEAR you when you guys say WR CB LB etc makes us better, but i am going to disagree, the way it stands i don't believe having the WR and even 2 stud linebackers would make us a PLAYOFF CONTENDER holy shit i used two different words there if you are HEARING me Playoff and Contender.
Unless we change the offensive scheme to highlight McCoys strengths, then this will always be a shit sandwiche and let's be honest Holmgreen and Shurmur aren't getting rid of the WCO and if McCoy can't run it well enough he has to go, it's all i am saying.
Our First Pick should be the best QB on the board and i am thinking that's Barkley... I am not one to trade the kitchen sink for Luck though just won't break the bank for it, I would be very comfortable trying to package a deal for 2 picks in the top 8 only if i get a QB/WR combo and every pick from round 2-7 are all linebackers and free agency addresses OL and a runningback (Hillis resign works for me)
But all in all please guys i came to these forums talking about the Kool-Aid and theres no need to drink it atm, when this season ends we really need to rethink our offensive roster and scheme.

wow. i agree with the D&D basement dweller.
we've got way to many holes to fill to burn another one on QB. it isn't colt. lat year and this year are like worlds apart with his play. no. it's the new system. hire an OC who can tweak this WCO shit to within colt's grasp, WR, RT, CB/S, LB, DE.....how many more picks?
-
mind blown that people are suggesting trading up when we have soo many holes. just fill them already.
I do agree that they need to change the offense a little to highlight McCoy's strengths instead of forcing this style of offense, and I think they have on a small scale (we saw a little more shotgun action) hopefully this continues.
And yeah, no doubt an OC.
Not enough people seem concerned about our TERRIBLE run defense though.
