So I was looking through some highlights today, and I came across something very interesting. During the play where Colt McCoy gets his head torn off by James Harrison, everyone was either focusing on the play that impossibly converted the 1st down, or Colt McCoy getting his teeth knocked out of his skull. What no one noticed, until now, is that Alex Smith goes out on a crossing route and gets jacked up on the play by Polamalu, when the ball wasn't even thrown. This was CLEARLY a penalty and should have been called.
Look on the bottom right of the screen and you will see the hit. Anyone else find this appalling?

Well it is within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage (where contact is allowed) but the hit was from behind (which isn't allowed). So I'm not sure if it would have been a 15 or 5 yard penalty, but you can't have more than one penalty enforced anyway. It's not like you can add them together and move the Browns 30 yards down field. Polamalu's hit on Smith would have been declined and while it was cheap, it wasn't near dirty enough for a fine so it's a non issue.
But good catch. I didn't see that before because of Harrison's dirty hit..
Edit: Actually watching the video again, I noticed a Browns wide receiver (maybe Evan Moore) lighting up a defensive back of the steelers right behind Polamalu lighting up Smith. Moore hit the db from the front at least but I'm not sure that is allowed behind 5 yards either. It's right around 51-52 seconds..

Ha thats a good catch, He even gets up and is like what the hell reg wheres the flag! Also saw the Moore hit, maybe the play was designed to go right to Smith and Moore was responsible to seal off the DB, or maybe the DB just backed up into his route or something.

In Head and SHoulders' defense, Colt did tuck it, and he took Smith out before Smith could block him. It's still dirty to hit a player in his back, though.

Actually, this wouldn't be getting all that much run if your fan base did not spend all last year crying over the consequences or the dirty hits your players make....or shall we say, the illegal hits. So, you basically brought it upon yourselves by your whining.

Why anyone would be intimidated to play the Stoolers is beyond me. Between this and Harrison crying because he can't lay cheap shots and threatened to retire, I don't see why anyone would take these estrogen-laden players and estrogen-laden fans seriously. All the players do is cry,and all the fans do is cry.

You Clowns also missed Phil Taylor rack up his 2nd illegal hit fine of the year. He's only a couple of shot away from a suspension himself, and he's only a rookie! Poor guy will probably end up missed multiple games in his career for DIRTY hits!
