This Pissed Me Off

Ok, so we generally have two uniforms for this season:
All whites were designated for home games.
Brown tops and white pants were designated for away games.
HOWEVER,
Every away game we played this year, the home team decided they wanted to wear their dark jerseys. Hence, we never had a chance to wear are brown tops. I know this is dumb of me but that upsets me. I wanted to see the Browns with some uniform variety, and I can't remember the last time the Browns wore the same exact uniform color all year long...maybe since the 50's.
Sorry, just needed to get that out there.

Haha you and me both. The only chance we had of wearing the dark tops was if we played Dallas or Washington. And we obviously didn't..

They would regularly play every game in their white unis in the 60s/70s/even the 80s.

You have no idea how much this pissed me off this year. I was just hoping that one team would have been cool and said, "You know what, we'll wear are aways at home this weeks so you guys can wear your Browns at least once this year." For some reason I don't feel like the Steelers are going to do this for us this week.

It is my understanding that the home team has always had the choice of jerseys. Most home teams opt to wear the colored jerseys at home.
The story that was passed to me from my Dad is that Modell wanted to treat our fans to seeing the opposing teams in their colors and, therefore, we started wearing whites at home. Only a couple of teams do this on a regular basis (Dallas comes to mind).
i like the brown jerseys too. From a fan standpoint, i'd be happy seeing the whites every game if they could fix the speaker system in the stadium.
roach (...and fix the push rush too)

See, I would say this makes 100% sense. But in 2010, our home jerseys were are brown tops...so...

Right. The tradition from the 60's hasn'y been applied consistently. 2010 is a good example. We've seen the hideous orange jerseys too.
BTW, there is a theory that the teams that wear whites have a tiny edge in uniform recognition each Sunday (FWIW). If true, we need every edge we can get.

Trying...
Nope, the human brain can't imagine impossible things.
Good one there!!

IIRC that was the old NFL guideline. And, yes, the idea was it allowed home team fans to see all the other teams' colors. Not sure when the practice completely fell apart, but could have been when color TV was well established.
Personally I like the ALL-whites... and that includes FACE MASKS... (shoes optional...)

Was never a fan of the white facemasks. They make the players look toyed....like a toyger.
Grey ones make em look mean.
