Jamarcus Russell was a quiter...I don't see that in RG3.

nobody saw it from jamarcus either. what u think the scouting report read something like..........."kid's a HUGE athlete, big and tall at about 6'7" 265lbs, runs a 4.6, can throw LITTERALLY from endzone to endzone, and has had a stellar college career.......oh, and he's a quitter."?

    nope.

and jamarcus didn't start quitting until he started going through the rigors of the NFL. it wasnt' until he hit the pro's that he was exposed......same with RG3.

i'm gonna say it right now so it's on record. what should the browns do? get peyton (if healthy, and he should be) for the next 5yrs.....earn instant legitimacy and contender status.......start BUILDING A TRADITION OF WINNING AND CONTENDING........which would make the browns MUCH more attractive to future FA's.....draft another QB and let him spend 3-4yrs learning behind one of the greatest of all times.........franchise is now set for at least a 10yr span.

what the browns WILL (most likely) do.............draft RG3........realize just how overrated he was over the course of the next 2-3yrs of 6-10 records or worse.......and be right in the same position you are now.....top 5 draft pick wondering who you could pick that can improve your team to at least mediocre.

somebody save this post and be ready to post it in a couple years when everyone is asking why the browns still suck.......it'll be like reading an original scroll from Nostradamus.

You're thinking from a STEELERS perspective. Now if you didn't have Ben, and Charlie Batch was your starting qb, sure it would make sense to get Manning.

One thing for sure I got out of Holmgren and Heckert's presser- they're thinking LONG TERM. Peyton Manning is a short term band-aid, admittedly a very attractive band aid- BUT. You're smart enough to know football history, so tell be what Joe Montana got Kansas City- couple of playoff years, and then off to tend the vineyard in California. Sorry, I want a Browns team that's going to put a can of whuup-ass on the Steelers for the next decade or so, not the next two years.

You seriously think Manning's good for another 5 years? The guy has had a cervical fusion, and IF he comes back, he's living on borrowed time. I'm sure he can make a few million a year doing SONY commercials at far less risk of paralysis.

Now I'm far from sold on spread qbs making it in the NFL- but Griffin does have a few things going for him- he's very accurate, has as much arm (if not more) than Andrew Luck, as mobile as Cam Newton, and has one thing Jamarcus Russell was seriously lacking in- smarts. RG III got accepted into law school.

The best thing that could happen to the Browns is Luck- RG III- and Kalil go 1-2-3, and Blackmon falls right into our lap. Better yet, RG III is still there, and Snyder the buffoon offers us his first and second to take Griffin. Seems like Mangini knew what the was doing when he traded away the rights to Sanchez, and H&H are every bit as smart qb wise.

  • If Blackmon isn't there, RG3/Wright is my ideal draft.

    Way to be positive.

Trying to get Peyton, at his age, with the doubts on his health, with his high price tag, is a "Redskins" move. "Win now at all costs! Mortgage the future while we're at it."

This kind of sad-sack pessimism (among other things) is why the Browns organization will never stabilize.

Draft RGIII if available, draft the best WR they can with their next pick, and just focus on the offense for the rest of the picks.

Though Seneca was not great statistically (and had some of the same issues behind the line that Colt did), there were some games where at long last, a substantial drive turned into touchdowns. I'd rather see if RGIII can do the same from a younger vantage point. Peyton is an NFL legend, but the Browns buying up vets for the sake of now, instead of the future is a horribly, sterotypically "Cleveland" thing to do. It's time for some change hereabouts. Besides, I see a "Peyton on some other team" situation looking a lot like Favre in Minnesota. Let's avoid that.

You mean when favre took them to the nfc championship game and nearly won? I'd be ok with that.

dude, he quit as soon as he signed his multi-million dollar contract.

i know you're a steeler troll with some standing on this board BUT can you stop with the 'typical browns football' fan bullshit because not everybody here thinks the same. i know it might be different than your community trailer park thinking, but must of us here can form our own opinions on things.

i know it's your purpose to be annoying but give it a break.

    ZING!

  • as i stated with you before to compare him with russell is completely Retarded and ignorant. They literally are two different athletes, and many saw russell as an extreme risk at the number one overall pick. I bet a lot of money that he falls greatly if Al Davis (RIP) wasn't a crazy owner who was obsessed with speed and arm strength. It's obvious you're basing your opinion off nothing more than faulty slippery slope logic of "man he's a athletic QB who ran a lot in college he can't be good!" What a tool buddy. If you come back here with actual logic why they are the same please, i'm all ears. But right now you just look like a douche

Then you had better be OK with a 3-13 record, which is what the Vikings have after Farve left to tend the farm. Close, no cigar.

Well, I've lived through three "close no cigars" with Bernie & Co., and another one with Sipe & the Kardiac Kids.

Steeler fans are praying the Browns will be dumb enough to mortgage the future to get a year or two of decent football out of Manning- just like KC did with Joe Montana- and then it's right back in the dumpster.

We're not going that route- and I'm giving you the Hoorta lead pipe lock guarantee. Bet the ranch Manning is somewhere else than Cleveland in 2012.

  • Come on Skins and Feesh. Let's see those offers...

Didn't JaMarcus Russell have some character issues? Plus he was a moron. I don't get the vibe that RG3 is a moron. Then again, Cam Newton seems really damn stupid, so what do I know?

Griffin is FAR from stupid- in fact, has good enough grades to apply to Law School. I'll bet he'll score extremely high on the Wunderlich. Steve Young anyone?
